  1. I have tried to download new mission within the game and get cannot connect to server. This started happening after I updated to 2.06. I know I am connected because I ran the updater again and it says all files up to date and I am now on this Forum typing this.
  2. I added an EFX reverb column to the missions wiki. (No pressure...) :)

I would personally love an A to Z tut. I still might have a guy set for doing my FM soundtrack so having extra knowledge to arm all the select audio bits would be wonderful.

The Location System is technically mentioned in the context of a blurb saying the ambient sound system exists. (I remember because I wrote it!) But not everything it does. It's a bit complicated for an intro tutorial, but if many people think it's important enough, maybe we can have section just for it and add the ambient sound & EFX.

Yes to stgatilov and Epifire, we're talking about fidcal's tutorial if you didn't catch it: http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=A_-_Z_Beginner_Full_Guide_Start_Here!

  3. So even though the cave isn't finished I still wanted to play this mission again! It's a great one! At first I found the city portion confusing, and I got lost a lot. I eventually just enjoyed exploring it. There were so many buildings that I could actually go inside and so many AIs that it really felt alive, the way a city ought to It was really cool to be able to get around the city through the sewers. The level design of the cathedral was my favorite part. Good architecture for sneaking about combined with good patrol routes made for a fun challenge. The readables were nice and some of them made me feel bad for thieving Thanks for this great fan mission Bikerdude! I'll have to play it again when the cave is done. Also, I think it's awesome that you help out with so many fan missions
  4. That moment you log into TDM forums and suddenly feel nostalgic...

  5. So I just decided to sorta start clean (that is, download the latest edition of TDM which, since it really isn't a mod but a stand alone game could just be called, "The Dark Stand Alone" but that would be rather awkward... but I digress). After loading it up I went in and updated all of the available missions, and this is when I made an interesting discovery. MFMF! So I have two and sometimes three instances of the same mission in my directory. Some of them have a check for having been completed, others of the same name do not. A few are obviously updated versions, but several have identical file names with no indication of a version number. The real treat, however, is file size. I have three versions of "Somewhere Above the City"; one is an update, two are not, and all three have vastly different file sizes. When I run into these duplicates I have some that read 18MB right alongside a version reading 226MB! While I'm guessing the easiest thing to do is wipe entirely and use the downloader to rebuild my list, I was wondering what could cause the huge discrepancy in file sizes (yes, each version seems to work, even if one is lacking 100MB in content) and is there a way to prevent TDM from downloading duplicates in the future?
  6. Lots of missions I have not played yet

If you haven't played kingsal's ones yet, or the latest Goldwell and Grayman missions, i can highly recommed those.

@nbohr1more: Having not done anything Dark Mod related for years now, I had completely forgotten about that mission. I am not even sure I have the files anymore :/

@chakkman: Have to check those missions out.

Hopefully they are still around in some form. :(

  7. Just wondering. It looks like FMs are downloading in the zip format now from fidcal.com. Has it always been that way?
  8. Hello I've been replaying a handful of missions, the last couple of days, and a little problem seems to be reoccurring. Some loot, usually blue money pouches is un frobbable; In the mission "Chalice of Kings" v.3.4 there are 2 pieces of loot that I'm unable to pick up. One of the pieces is found in the Library, inside the desk (I think), and the other is well hidden inside the captains room. The last mentioned piece of loot can be tricky to pick up if the thing covering it is pressed inward (so I've read), but I did dabble with it for about 20 minutes, always reloading before another attempt. Never succeed to pick it up. Another mission I encountered an issue with is "Breaking out the fence" v 1.0, inside the safe are 3 blue money pouches, one oblong and two round. I'm unable to pick up one of the round pouches. I'm playing on Expert in both missions. I'm using TDM version 2.05 running on Linux Mint 17.3/Ubuntu 14.04. Does anyone have any ideas about these issues?
  9. Hi guys, I'm creating this post because I've almost finished translating to Italian the awsome WS1 fan mission by grayman, and I have some questions, both for the Italian translators (@ECHELON/knymed) and the mission author (@grayman). MAINLY FOR THE TRANSLATORS NAMES: I have a few questions regarding the various names in the game, since I could not find a lot of information in the wiki. First, in your translations have you adopted standard translation for the names? If not, I translated "Lord/Master Builder" -> "Creatore" "Builders" -> "Costruttori" "Magyck" -> "Magya" "Taffer" -> "Imbroglione" Are you ok with that?? Are there any better solutions? FOR BOTH TRANSLATORS AND THE AUTHOR FREE TRANSLATIONS: Because of the fact that English sentences are a lot shorter than their Italian equivalents, I had to make quite a "free" translation of the texts, especially, the journals' in order to prevent the text from overlapping in readables, but I tried to keep as close as possible in the meaning to the original texts. "GRIM" WORD PUN: It was very difficult for me to translate the word pun on the sentence "A Grim thing it is we do" in which "Grim" has (I guessed) two meanings - first it has a literal meaning: "A horrible thing it is we do" - second it is a clue for finding the skull, it's saying: go look for the skull in Grim's vault so while translating it I wanted to keep both and it came out like that: "E' Dura la nostra scelta" (literally "is Hard our choice") But in this way we no longer have father Grimmore but Duramore and you have to look for Dura's sarcophagus and not Grim's to find the skull. I know that's a very big change, so I wanted to know your opinion... In addition it would require a change in the map file, precisely at rows 241927 and 242540, where the strings for the sarcophagi labels are defined, and that should be added in the strings file. FOR THE AUTHOR MAPS: The only missing things to translate are the maps (the three floors' and the two catacombs'), which unfortunately are pure bitmap and cannot be edited easily, could you provide me with a source file that I can edit easily? SPLASH: I could also translate the splash screen at the beginning of the mission, but I'm not sure, in fact at the moment the mission title and description cannot be changed, so I fear that changing the splash screen only could be a bit confusing. What do you think about? Thank you a lot for your time
  10. A decade and TDM has aged not a day. I am LOVING the missions made by the epic makers.

I've found it difficult to find where TDM is listed as #1 on Greenlight. This page ( https://steamcommunity.com/greenlight/ ) has no ranked listing. This one ( https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=858048394 ) has no visible rank or stats page. Is it my script blocker?

  11. Hello everybody, I'm RS-STALKER and I just joined. I have to say what you guys did with this mod is simply amazing, nothing short of brilliant. Every single one of you who worked o this mod is awesome and I simply love it. However I do have some problems and hope some of you guys might help. Some fan missions won't start, I haven't tried all of them but I have run into two fan missions that won't start. One is Alberic's curse where no loading screen comes up, and the mission simply won't start. Another is the mission, Business as usual, the game freezes and crashes every time I try to play that mission, particularly when i press the start mission button. I have noticed though, And I don't know if this might be the problem, that both these missions have a introductory screen with the fancy arrows and "X" at the bottom. No other mission that I've played (that worked) had such an introductory screen, But the mission that I did want to play that did have that particular introductory screen, wont work because the loading screen just won't show. If any of you guys have some solutions I implore to please share it, cause I'd really like to play these missions I have windows 7, 64 bit, nvidia GTX 560 graphics card, core i5 intel cpu, and 8 GB of ram, and currently using the dark mod version 2.0
  12. Is there any way to know on the mission selector which missions contain undead? Could this be implemented in a future patch?
  13. Hey, Every time I've try to use the Full Editor when PM'ing someone, and every single time I get an error. Whoever is in charge of the forum, is it possible that this could be fixed? Thanks Neon
  14. How many floppy disks would it take to store the dark mod and all its missions?

The latest ones I remember could store a bit over 3MB. If Mr. Bohr is right with the size we would talk about 3600 disks.
