  1. http://www.d3jedi.com/ i kinda hope that your mod team will give this some thought... D3 is dead
  2. Strange dream last night. I dreamt that I was writing a post on here to complain about the new vocal sets for 1.08 as I had just heard a Builder singing This Charming Man by The Smiths.

Pls, let me translate this for you:

TDM is your life passion and singing AI is your disapproval with life. You're gonna die in agony... Soon.

I never got into BSD, though I've installed it once or twice. This is another reason to check it out.

The BSD's arn't for everyone, but within their goals, simple code and mailing lists lies a lot of goodness and simplicity. I love the underdogs. Anyhoo work will be Linux friendly too. Portability is a cornerstone for good code.

  6. I had a dream last night where there were a lot of maroon diamond flags on a castle wall. Then I noticed they were all waving *exactly* the same way and in my dream I literally said out "Holy crap! Instancing!" haha

Ever had a dream where you knew it was a dream while it was going on? That had never happend to me until a wile ago. Its a cool experience because you can do anything you want.

I had that last week. I was walking down a street and I realised it was a dream. I knew that once the realisation kicked I would quickly wake up. So I decided to run in front of a car. It hit me and I woke up.

When I was young, I had a dream where I started falling and when I woke up I hit the floor. Pretty funny...

  7. I know it's been debated, but no thief in the real world actually works alone .... My wife and I start missions simultaneously so we can kinda feel like we're going through it together, as we sit side by side in our game room .... We played ALL thievery missions together, but that's getting dated fast ..... we also played Doom 3 together using the Last Man Standing D3 Coop mod .... works like a charm for all four of us (two girls play along with us too) It makes family game night a wee bit different in our house ...... I always wondered that since the Last Man Standing Coop mod for Doom 3 worked so well, why couldn't it be an option for TDM? I thought of actually contacting the LMS developers and hiring them to do a custom coop mod for us ... desperate I know , but after Thievery, we realize how fun sneaking around together actually is! All the elements are there, it seems like one would just have to take advantage of it if they knew how ... I mean those guys did it for Doom 3 right? Wife and I envision someday a massive multiplayer online city map server where citazens roamed about thier business, and thieves could work together, share hints, buy and sell items to each other, etc .... We sure wish we could hook up with some of you great folfs for some thieving together!

(We can leave the thread for journalism corruption, but just on this...) Then the issue in academia is money flowing to the more corruptable fields like science & engineering with the big corporate grants & revolving door with staff. The humanities might not get that, but OTOH they are getting pressured to "justify their existence" financially. I could probably agree it's rife in almost any human field though, as long as there are incentives there will be corruption.

    3. demagogue

      demagogue

Or then we have the "uncorruptable" critical academics, but then they're basing their work on Derrida or Marx and are so detached from reality they throw their credibility out the window. It's good to be critically detached, not so good to be derailed from reality. My position in law sometimes is something like a critical realism, but it's practically an orphan position. (You want to protect victims *and* think science works??? Wha...?)

    4. Sotha

      Sotha

Who is uncorruptable anyways? I cannot convince even myself that I would be uncorruptable in every situation. And I perceive myself to be situated in the more-reliable-than-50%-of-the-general-population side in the gaussian distribution curve of corruption. Problematic, yes?

  8. Do not speak ill of the Shatner! He'll hunt you down and do stuff. Really bad stuff. Like knock on your door then run away and if you're really mean about him he'll make you listen to one of his albums! Just watch your step.
  9. Does anybody else have this problem? In the (European) evenings the forum is unbearable slow. The server is delivering about 8Kbyte/s, sometimes less and usually stops midwhere during loading the page. Sometimes you can't even get the index page, sometimes you can log in, but then only get half of the overview etc. In the mornings everything is snappy.
  10. In the 1990's 3D animation in tv shows or movies was rare. Toy Story was a household name but one day Beast Wars was born. I remember turning the television on and seeing the intro credits. I was like "woooah..". How could they do that, amazing. Beast Wars left it's mark and is perhaps my favorite TV show of all time. Eventually they released the three seasons on DVD. Later Mainframe made another type of Beast Wars. When they returned to Cybertron but it wasn't as good. More info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beast_Wars So have any of you seen this TV show? I felt emersed when I watched it. Stranded on a planet with a team of Transformers. They are trying to survive, while constant new pods drop from the atmosphere. An alien intelligence is slowly uncovered... Just pure bliss .
  11. Clever wordplay for the day: My friend noted that Ms. nee Stalin actually died last week, but the papers were Stalin on the obituary (which only got published today). I then gave him high Marx for such a clever bon Mao.

  12. Has the team considered switching to the updated D3 engine used in Quake Wars? I don't know about the internals but the biggest changes seem to be the ability to render huge outdoor areas and excellent AI, both things a Thief-y game should benefit from.
  13. Twenty six missions last year...only 16 this year so far....

Thief editing in general is winding down. That not enough people have transitioned to TDM instead of dropping out - that's the disappointment.

  14. We build hard drives that last a decade, but we can't build an air matress that lasts over a year.

  15. Map geometry complete! Needs one last scripted event, gameplay polish, and visual polish. This thing may actually be done by Oct 31!

  16. I've upgraded IPB to the latest stable version, and since this was a major upgrade (from 2.3.6) I also had to re-do the forum style. Most of the new stuff is in place, but I bet that the logo will be changed. One of the many new features in version 3 is rating of posts and also a "report spammer" ability which will make it easier to single out spam bots and ban then at sight. Hopefully this will stop some of the spam threads we've seen recently. Make sure to empty your browser cache if you're experiencing any problems. And please report any errors etc in this thread. Cheers, ~m2
  17. Geometry Wars on Xbox 360 is nearly a perfect game. I've played lots of "run and gun" games, such as Robotron, Smash TV, etc, where you run with one stick and shoot with the other, but GW seems to have refined the gameplay to a sublime smoothness a poet could love. Anyway, I just finally broke through the 1 million barrier (ended with 1.1 mil), and I'm just floating on air
  18. Wow this game is pretty fun. It's only one map but you can play like 5 or 6 classes. Build stuff, shoot stuff, and blow stuff up. Pilot all kinds of crazy vehicles. It might even take a lot of hype from UT 3. In UT 3 you don't really have campaign mode or conquer areas. You can do that in Enemy Territory though and Enemy Territory Quake Wars. Go play it now!
  19. I can't login to Steam forums. Please visit the Thief release threads and mention TDM Thanks!
