Question about "door bashing"

Back in the day in the city there was a common skill that sneaksie peoples rarely used on locked doors... but it was often a good option. Did any of you ever "door bash" to enter certain doors that were locked but didn't respond to lock picks? You could do a few overhead blows with your sword and *CRACK!* the door would swing open.

Not very ghost-like, but handy! Any chance of this being brought into TDM?

I've never been in favour of it, personally. Bashing a door open with a short sword is quite ridiculous to anyone who has ever held a real sword before.

Yes, definitely the foot. I've kicked in a couple of locked doors and I can't imagine the waste of time it would have been getting them open with a sword

On that note, you'll all be happy to know that I ripped a nice "door kicked in" bam! from YouTube that I used in my FM; it's there in the "Sound" folder.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

you could use the hilt of a sword to smash the lock, special those with big pomels on the end, the sharp bit you wouldn't use cos you could bend it or make it go blunt, an ax would be better to open a door with or those spikey maces, or maybe a widowmaker would do, you could open a door with a widowmaker, if you could chop someone in half with them (groin up), then that would open a door, but a thief wouldn't carry one around with them, just too big.

You'd have far better luck using a baseball bat.

Or your foot.

Yeah, my point was that even a baseball bat is not very effective for breaking open a door, and it's much better at it than a sword. A sword might very easily cut through wooden boards--if they were stretched horizontally across two sawhorses. But trying to swing a sword at a vertical target with walls surrounding it on all sides is useless--the only thing that will connect is the tip of the sword.

Kicking would be much cooler... still not exactly stealthy, but perhaps a nice way to get that extra ring for 50 gold that's inside a bonus house all boarded up and keyless. Give up stealth for the perfect loot score.

And, yeah, I'm pretty handy with a sword, and couldn't imagine trying to bash a jewelry box open with it, let alone a door!

Instead of having to bash open doors that don't respond to lockpicks, I'd prefer that mission authors use them sparingly and only when the flow of a mission requires it.

If there were bashable doors then there would have to be unbashable door args too. Sounds more trouble than it's worth to me.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!
