Youtuber needs encouragement....

The films also nicely demonstrate that graphics are important and nice, but gameplay whips the floor with them. He spents not more than 10 seconds remarking on the level of detail, textures etc in "Too late!" (but he mentions our bad kerning in the readables and the comic-sans-esque title :) but compare this to his fricking 3 minute rant on how awesome Swing! is :)

One more thing that I noticed how cool/awesome some of the scenes worked out it Too Late! He goes into the second section of the warehouse, knows the guy with the torch comes sometime, doesn't find a hiding spot. Then the guard actually comes through the door, he panics, tries to scramble up the crates, and is bathed in light. Luckily, the guard looked the other way, and he escapes. That is what for me the stealth genre is about and makes it so exciting. The same happened in a few more places (the guy with the torch comes to the fire). Very very good guard placement and patrol routes in that FM - and it was soo good, that the videographer didn't even notice how good it was ;)

hehe, this isn't an adult film!

Oh come on, it is about bjs, bjing, and there is swinging! The level is even named Swing! And don't forget all the steamy trusting action going on. Things get sometimes really hot and then wet.

what, you didn't know you could douse candles without making a racket by shooting water arrows at the ceiling? B)

I always use a broadhead to shoot the candle from the table and wait for it to go out :D

I notice he has that old problem where if there is something bright in the bottom corner it affects the rendershot and makes the lightgem go brighter. What fixes that again?

I've had no trouble (once Cat AI was turned off), so hopefully this isn't yet another problem.

Here's another potential Youtuber who needs encouragement. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lsEL5yu_pM&feature=related

He seemed to really enjoy Alberics Curse, but he didn't make it through this one. He got frustrated and gave up on part 6. I told him to give some of the great missions like A Score to Settle and Transaction a try.

Also, he was another player who didn't know about basic things like picking up bodies and aiming above torches to put them out with water arrows. IIRC he said he played the Training Mission.

I think this fellow is being troubled by a bug in FRAPS that causes problems for the light-gem. Lowenz reported similar issues with Mandrasola. He needs to be made aware that his version pf FRAPS is making the missions too difficult not the mission or mod authors...

Please visit TDM's IndieDB site and help promote the mod:

(Yeah, shameless promotion... but traffic is traffic folks...)

I don't know just seems ATI users have lots of trouble with Doom3 and The Dark Mod in general.

Lets hope that having TDM have its own executable will cure these problems.

Dang, yes he has a nice way of talking to be honest. It's so constant and he delivers subtle humor every now and then which I find very amusing indeed.

Though it's the kind of talking that makes you... sleepy for some reason. Like listening to rolling waves...

I have no idea just how creepy that sounds when someone reads it- but yes- It's funny to watch, the commentating is a nice addition and very... involving.

I was trying to do commentary once and it's not easy, not at first anyway... You either run out of stuff to say, or you're just thinking of what to say and lose track of the actual game. Plus the whole part about getting used to your voice & just talking by yourself. But anyway I botched the whole mission so don't think I ever put it up. (IIRC it was Disorientation.)

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

no kidding, I had a lot of trouble with my DR tutorial video, even after writing an outline of topics, still ended up babbling a little bit. Also noticed that if i have a pause where I'm drawing a blank, I tend to sniff my nose to fill the gap. sounds really nerdy, lol. Thankfully I don't tend to do that irl, just a nervous "performance" twitch.

Also, Fen has finally grown on me like a fungus. If I watch too many more videos, I'm going to start refering to things as "a thing".

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
