Looks good, though I don't know if it will be useful as a brush texture. It really needs a model.

Ok so I put it to models\darkmod\props\textures as flag_pirate1 and to misc material file.

Now it needs animated model.

It's only a model...

misc material file.

Pirate flag model will go to nautical, I suppose, so maybe nautical.mtr?

Looks good, BTW.

Do you paint or draw in traditional techniques as well?

Thanks. No, not really :) I never went beyond drawings in school notebook. And since I finished my education (at least for the present) I actually play guitar and do music on pc more than draw.

I created new folder: textures\darkmod\decals\table_cloth with 2 textures inside: rosette_01 and rosette_02. I think that we could do some semi transparent table-cloths using decals placed near the surface (of a table for example). It really works nicely in my opinion: http://img126.imageshack.us/my.php?image=llinenco0.jpg . I uploaded map test/table_cloth if you want to check how it works.

They're doily's.

Heh :)  I don't have that word in my paper dictionary. I guess I'll change the file names now :) However I wouldn't rename the folder as I plan to make some other table covering.

Doily is made of paper, isn't it? (I do have that word in my dictionary... :P )

What Arcturus made is kind of lace, made of fabric.

A doily (or doilie) is a small ornamental mat usually made of cotton or linen

OK, my shitty Large PWN-Oxford English-Polish Dictionary is currently burning in my fireplace.... <_<

I deleted iron_fittings_rivets and replaced it with plates_rivets_grey. The new texture shares normalmap and specularmap with panel_rivets_blue.

I was wondering lately, is it completely legal to use photos of ornamental fabric like this? After all it's some kind of industrial design.

Good question. I suppose technically it could be called a derivative work, just like photos of paintings are derivative works of the painting.

In practice I don't think it's likely to cause anyone any grief.

My games | Public Service Announcement: TDM is not set in the Thief universe. The city in which it takes place is not the City from Thief. The player character is not called Garrett. Any person who contradicts these facts will be subjected to disapproving stares.

Erm. This changes quite a lot the look of my old mill....

Let me please have a look whether the new one is better or not...

So on a regular basis I try to start building something in Darkradiant but very quickly I loose interest and give up.
      I tend to
create a room, position an ai in it (or first ai, then room, probably better) put a light in it Put some stuff in it test the room in tdm Now I had this new idea:
Start of with a gigantic room. To skip the importance of sealing for the time being and to think broader than one room. Then just use ground without wall, just to visualise the structure of the level.  Then just use prefab walls and other elements (arches, etc.). Just building area's that aren't enclosed. I can always close them at a later point. Maybe this is all very logical from a mappers perspective, but tdm is the first game where I have done any kind of real mapping and I always stop at the start. It just takes too long to make something exciting.
I want to build something at some point, because over time I accumulated lots of ideas.

It would be nice to have a link to the forum thread of a mission in download section, rather than having to search for it manually, like on Thief Guild.

Anaglypta , floral and damask wallpaper look great in older homes
It’s rare to see anyone using “shader not found” wallpaper in their house

Terribly difficult juggling map designing with work, but I'm still alive and chipping away at something very special. I'm actually making a collaboration of sorts with a friend, I make the map itself and he acts as my "Chief Scope Creep Consultant" that checks in every so often to make sure this project isn't getting out of hand. It's a good system!
