  1. A coworker who bought and VR headset brought this to my attention since he knows I'm a Thief fan. The guy playing it in the video is a bit annoying, but it looks pretty good overall.
  2. Don't worry, the name is wildly misleading. This interesting youtube channel features development stories of legendary games like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzD9ldLoc3c
  3. Diego's recommendation of the week*: The Messenger. Started playing with zero expectations. I had this on my wishlist but I don't remember when I put it there, so I just bought it blind during a sale and started playing. Man, what an amazing surprise I had! What I'm about to say would be qualified as spoiler in my book but the trailer and the game description on steam seem quite proud to announce it. But I'll put a spoiler tag anyway. Maybe play the game without watching the trailer or reading the description lol that's what I did and I'm glad I did it. As a snob and picky gamer it's nice to have more than one contender for game of the year. (Return of the Obra Dinn is still ahead) Should we maybe make a topic just for game suggestions? I played TWO good games this year so I feel like I'm spamming now. * More like biannual
  4. I am a total sucker for high-tech sneaking like Splinter Cell, so I am farely interested in this upcoming game. Maybe some of you are too? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_WGV9eL6r0
  5. Hey guys I figure we should make The Dark Mod more accessible for general audiences and make our game less unique so I figured some helpful pointers would help you guys out! Slow motion powers that use up a meter that only builds by stealing loot.Highly graphic (also probably slow motion) x-ray kills and knockouts. (See attached image)A fully semi-automatic crossbow or something with clip reloaded ammunition. (Chu-ko-nu comes to mind)Mark and execute on above crossbow and possibly also the bow and arrows.Ledge grab kills & kills from above. The ability to knock out guards by throwing bottles at their head.Third person camera for overpowered situational awareness levels.Snap-to-cover system.A radar complete with enemy vision cones.X-ray vision that highlights loot/intractable objects.A tacked on PVP mode that nobody plays and never gets properly developed but has like one or two good ideas in it.I really hope this thread helps you guys improve a good game into a great one!
  6. I'll answer this one more specifically later. However, I'm a bigger fan of the earlier Tomb Raider games by Core Design. I love Nathan McCree's work in TR1-3. Overall, it's tough for me to choose my favorite, but I'd probably have to pick from 1 or 2. I think I might go w/ Tomb Raider II. I'll get into the details later. Personally, I can't stand the CrystalD games. These just aren't the same and I am so over reboot Lara/ Tomb Raider. The first reboot game was alright then I completely lost interest after Rise. I still haven't purchased or played Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The week it came out I was having too much fun replaying TR1-3. The new games just aren't the same.

  9. The title tells everything this is the error code I got. I suppose there should be something about it in the blue field but it's empty. I used the copy from moddb. Tryed also the new tdm_base01.pk4, same effect. Win 10, 64 bit. 2.05 run well.
  10. I'm currently in school full-time pursuing a degree in Computer Science going into my third year. Not a master programmer by any means, but I like to think that I'm fairly competent and a quick study. So far I've done most of my work/projects in C++, Java, FXML/XML, Python, R and Javascript/HTML/CSS, but have dabbled in C, C#, PHP, Kotlin, Go and Clojure. Right now I'm on Summer break and doing an internship, but I also have a good amount of free time to work on personal projects and if applicable or at all needed I'd be interesting in assisting the development of the platform. Since finding out about TDM a few weeks back (just prior to the release of 2.06) I have played through a dozen or so missions and it has quickly become one of my favorite games of all time. It takes everything I loved about the Thief series and improves on the mechanics and adds the variety and power of a passionate community to create one of the best games I've played in years. If there is anything I can do to help make this game even better I'd be more than willing to assist. I have also recently begun to develop my own level for the game (currently in the early stages of developing the story and learning how to effectively use DarkRadiant) which I hope to have ready for testing and release by the end of the Summer. I also just want to shout out to and thank everyone who has contributed to this project so far because you all have developed something absolutely exceptional.

  14. Just thought i'd start one of those fancy survey thingie. Mine would be Deus Ex, for sure. Never played anything like it anymore. Really pretty perfect in all regards. Followed by Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition with all addons, System Shock 2, and the Thief's. Also, every GTA part since part 3 has been pretty great.
  15. Experimenting with TDM on Steam Link on Android. see topic http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/19432-tdm-on-steam-link-for-android/

Did the TDM team removed D3's internal Joypad feature? (tdm works only with systemkey binders for joysicks)

  17. I've encountered a big problem with my wip map 'Seed of the Lodestar' - it starts and works without problems, but an error (malloc error 1048576) occurs while loading savegame after restarting TDM. But - if I start the map from the beginning and then load savegame, it works well. I've tried deleting whole sections of the map (it have five: the city, sea bottom/surface and ship's exterior, ships interior, arctic wreck, buried ruins) and removing only one section didn't fix the problem, even if entity limits seems to be in the safe zone afterwards. Also removing almost all of model files from /models folder makes fresh load-save work - so it may be related to model complexity. I've tried making all func_static no solid and it didn't help, so its not a collision limit problem. Here's download link: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AoIlw2GQnPGZeO3FRHW4_DSdQEk
  18. Has anyone experienced the situation where you are playing the game and then you tap "T" for lockpick and you get nothing? What about loading a mission and then when you go to turn left or right with the mouse the view does not change? Does anyone have any troubleshooting tips of advice for me? Is there a way to reset all controls to "factory"?
  19. Morning I started getting this last night after deleting my darkmod.config from from my appdata folder, Im running Windows 7 and I have full read/write rights to the darkmod folder. The reason I nuked the config file is I have had a number of minor bugs with DR and the first step of fixing some of them was to nuke the config file. Evenign when I correct the game path from the list of available Fms (see below) it will continue to popup at launch.
  20. Rebels: Prison Escape, an abandonware video game from 2004 by a Hungarian studio that went bust. To me it was always a mystery why it wouldn't work. There is no information about the game, no walkthroughs, no fixes, patches or even videos on YouTube except a few cinematics and old amateur footage. The challenge, if anyone has time and curiousity - figure out if it's possible to go beyond the first level prison. To me both this version and the retail copy I had about 10-14 years ago would crash after finishing the first prison. It produces a crash log but I have no clue whatsoever. It's one of those games that Ross Scott might want to do a video of Game Dungeon considering how cryptic the internet is about this game, but until then... This is the only game I saw that took the prison thematic seriously and made it work. It's basically an Isometric RTS/Steath like Commandos or Robin Hood. Update: By accident I found on some obscure sites the necessary files that include a patch to fix the crash to the second level. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1WFSESXj3YdJdv8KGraVpqHpKXHvUCHc2 I also uploaded it at Moddb: https://www.moddb.com/games/rebels-prison-escape/downloads/rebels-prison-escape-patch-for-crash-at-the-romero-memorial-second-stage Here's the game itself because it's only sold second hand these days: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1VDgYLReyQWlPPN3TPzWF5RvvRWh29jF6 Tweak: Edit the rebels.cfg file by changing the 'checkvideo=#' entry to 'checkvideo=6'. Save the changes and you can start on any level.
  21. Image - https://i.imgur.com/zJS8zFj.jpg Solutions? Im using a custom resolution on windows 10 (140% in custom setting) Is there any workaround?
  22. Just setting up my new Win 7 pro PC. I have internet connection okay (using it here!) Problem is, I just installed my Courier Email program - correctly gave it permission to access the net through my firewall - but checking for email just gets a winsock error: WINSOCK Error: Connection refused. (The requested mail service is not running on the designated server. Verify the server name or contact your System Administrator). Connection to socket failed. Now, I know the mail service IS running on the server because I just used this exact same program and mailbox on my Win XP PC minutes before. I simply checked my email as normal on that machine, received email okay, saved the mailbox, copied it over to this new pc via a flash drive - but get this stupid error when I try to get email with the exact same email program and config. Google didn't help. Any ideas anyone?
