  1. So, unbelievably, I've never purchased a dedicated gaming keyboard or mouse, or furthermore any keyboard/mouse that costs above $10 each. The ones i have now i've been using since i dunno 2010, 2009? feet grips rubbed off, when I play any game, every 5 minutes i need to slide the keyboard back to the edge of the tray every 5 minutes or so, and its not backlit, so i end up fumbling a lot with the less-used keys while playing in the dark. and playing in the dark is what we do. cuz its dark mod. Also no extra function keys on the mouse, its m1, m2, m3+wheel. and the wheel button is completely jackshit worthless, I always end up scrolling forward or back once or twice trying to press it. I don't have a terrible lot of money, so i was thinking i dunno, maybe a $50 mouse right now, and then 2 weeks later maybe a $50 keyboard, and I was getting all prepped for the specs to research, and the pricepoints to expect, and I browsed through the entire Razer product line as a starting point, just to see what ridiculously overpriced stuff looks like. And then this happened: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823129030 I mean, I'm used to giving my mouse a few technical taps when it doesn't move properly, and having a coefficient of friction problem where I have to put a bit much force just to get the thing going, and by then its far too late for small precision movements, I usually end up using the momentum I've built up to run in little circular movements to get pinpoint accuracy. So, basically, even really mediocre starter gear is going to be a huge improvement for me. $30 combo with back lighting, and adjustable DPI mouse with extra function keys. I can't even... how is this beatable? Is there really a point to shopping any more?
  2. I've made it so buttons/levers can be locked and then unlocked using keys and the lockpicks. This is for use with locked doors that use controllers. Do any of you primo map authors know of any instances where you or someone else has allowed some other inventory item to be used on a button or lever? (CBinaryFrobMover for those who've been in the code.) I'd like to test any such cases, if they exist, to make sure they still do what they're supposed to. Thanks
  3. Well I attempeted to effect a repair on my SteelSeries Kinzu and just made it worse, so am now using my spare Kinzu. I would like to know what mice people are using, specifically mappers who do a lot of DR work. After a lot of bug reporting with Greebo I am partly convinced that the kinzu is repsonsible for some of the issue I am having namely - drag and snapback - when I have an item selected and move it a small distance to another location in ortho and it snaps back to original location etc.shift-drag-select - when I am trying to shift-select a bunch of items and end selecting everying behind my selection and have ti hit exscape and start all over again.I think the issue with the Kinzu is a combination of the following - very light mouse that glide very easily - so when pressing the LMB its easy to move the mouse every so slightly causing a drag select.short stroke LMB action, - which gets made worse as the LMB microswitch and the finger pad wear, reducing it still further. In a previous attempt to combat the shift select issue I have been using a different k/b that has a lighter shift key, it happens less but it still happens. ta.

  6. I googled but came up short. When running in windowed mode how how does one switch out of the game to the desktop or release the mouse to continue working in the desktop? OS: Linux, XFCE DE
  7. Hey, How can I make a shootable button which can be activated by arrow? Or can I add a shootable property to an existing frobable button? Thank you!
  8. I have NEVER had this sort of problem before with any game. The Dark Mod was working just fine until I installed a fan mission called "Builder's Influence". Then my mouse could no longer do free look. My side to side (turning) did not work at all. Why would this happen? I am leary now to install any other fan mission.

I suppose making a campaign as an individual and building for Thief Gold go hand & hand. You need to be pretty obsessed to do either. XD

I'm just very happy to see how much work still goes on with the original Thief games. Good mods = long life after release!

  10. I got a new wireless keyboard/mouse combo for ten bucks! Talk about a great deal! Within 10 minutes of hooking it up, I wondered if it is encrypted. It uses 128-bit AES.

      lost_soul

I saw that some other wireless keyboards use 8-bit encryption. YES, 8-BIT! Even a 486 would be able to crack that.

Blooth is the way to go, if you can find one that ticks all the boxes and doesen't cost an arm and a leg.

Indeed. If anybody at Logitech is reading this, we love you guys. You make really affordable products that just keep going. You do not remove features from products we already bought, or do any other sleezy things. Sincerely, a happy user.

  11. I'm wondering if anyone ever checks new posts in the Fan Missions Forums? I've posted 4 questions asking for help for 4 different missions that I can't finish because I"m stuck, and I don't get any help. I posted a question this morning so I don't expect an answer right away for that one. Its frustrating because I would like to finish them. I've read through the posts for each mission and I'm not getting anything from them. If there's someone who could help me I'd really appreciate it. Thanks I guess I'm spoiled from the TTLG forums.
  12. Is it just me or does the TDM Forums favicon look whack?

  13. Hi all, me again Now that I've learned how to take screenies on DM (thanks to Aluminumhaste) I wanted to post one that I took but I got an error saying that the image ext that I used was not allowed in these forums, It was .jpg so I changed it to .png and I got the same error again. They're on Photobucket.
  14. Hi, I come into the strange bug recently, on every map I try to play the mouse is not working.. I can attack and scrool things with mouse scrool, but not use my mouse to look around. The cursor starts moving imediatelly after switching out of TDM. No problems in menus eighter, only ingame in missions. Anyone know what to do?
  15. First, a quick "hi". TDM is incredible. I played through most of the tutorial last night and am very excited to try the game proper. Also, I've had a number of small issues getting it to work, but the excellent FAQ and resources already available have helped me solve most of these problems on my own. One thing I can't find, though ... can I adjust mouse sensitivity in the game? I feel a little sluggish. Thanks in advance - Zombra
  16. Hello, i played few fms, and in some of them my mouse wheel works ok, like it should be (wheel down, and things come to me, wheel up and it goes away), but in some missions its inverted O_o and its really weird. Thieves Den, A Night to Remember, Tears of Saint Lucia these were ok, but A Score to Settle and Alberic's Curse these had wheel inverted. Any explanation for such weird thing?
