      I've found it difficult to find where TDM is listed as #1 on Greenlight. This page ( https://steamcommunity.com/greenlight/ ) has no ranked listing. This one ( https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=858048394 ) has no visible rank or stats page. Is it my script blocker?

  3. I just read the thread from Vorob http://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?s=&am...st&p=180349 I think the lamps on the walls look really unrealistic and ugly without a shadow. Since there are the issues with the shadows, I think it would still look much better if we cerate a simple shadow texture as a decal and maybe a prefab for such lights, so that a mapper can put them on the wall. Of course the shadow wouldn't move, but it would still look MUCH better with a static (and performancewise easy) shadow, than none at all. It would still look better if we had just a dark generic blob, that can be used in such cases as a shadow replacement. No details, just a shadowy blob. In older games this was used as well, because shadows were not realistically implementable on older machines, but it still adds depth to the image, as the shadow is an important tool of judging distances. The lamps always look like floating somwhere indefinitely.
  4. Have any of you played Styx: Master of Shadows? Steam recommended it to me as a stealth game. A goblin is sneaking and assassinating through a fantasy town. Is it worth the money and time? I could always go for a good stealth game Not enough of those around.
  5. I know this might have been discussed before, so I'm sorry if I'm stating something obvious. I absolutely love the dynamic light system in idTech4... but I believe one problem which stands out at this stage is the lack of soft shadows. In real life, shadows become more blurred the farther they are from the object casting them. Gradual distance blur is probably a lot to ask for in a renderer... but shadows having a constant softness would likely look much better than the sharp ones used currently. idTech5 has this fixed, but in Doom 3's day this was sadly the only possible lighting technique. Since the software as well as GPU's have evolved nowadays, I was wondering if the DarkMod engine could ever move past this limitation, and change the lighting system so it can allow for soft shadows to exist. This isn't to beg developers to implement it... I'm just curious if it's planned, and when we could expect it. Hint: I play Xonotic a lot, and I know the Darkplaces engine (based on idTech1) implemented blurred shadows for its dynamic lighting system. Maybe some of its code could be of use here as well?

  7. I'm wondering if anyone ever checks new posts in the Fan Missions Forums? I've posted 4 questions asking for help for 4 different missions that I can't finish because I"m stuck, and I don't get any help. I posted a question this morning so I don't expect an answer right away for that one. Its frustrating because I would like to finish them. I've read through the posts for each mission and I'm not getting anything from them. If there's someone who could help me I'd really appreciate it. Thanks I guess I'm spoiled from the TTLG forums.

  9. Anyone can tell me whats the line to put in a entity like a street lamp model to not cast shadows.!! I know i can look in Wiki..but im sure i get alot of time just ask here. thanks

Hi all, me again Now that I've learned how to take screenies on DM (thanks to Aluminumhaste) I wanted to post one that I took but I got an error saying that the image ext that I used was not allowed in these forums, It was .jpg so I changed it to .png and I got the same error again. They're on Photobucket.
  11. Is it possible to have a fullbright material, which receives shadows as if it was standard material ? For example, if I add stage with blend add to a standard material, it becomes fullbright, but then any shadow that is cast on it looks so faint, as if it's not even there. Thanks.
