Zerush Posted November 29 Report Posted November 29 (edited) 3 hours ago, revelator said: dark sector while fun is not really geared towards modern displays. any resolution above 1920x1080 will cause gfx to go bonkers with smearing (some have had success with editing the config file "not me") works if running it in above resolution but if you happen to have an ultrawide screen you will have to accept letterboxing (black bars on the side). controls are also a little wonky as it is a very very old console port so a bit like the first ports of resident evil . No issues with the display (1920 x 1080 is my max resolution in the Laptop), but certainly, even customizing the controls, it's somewhat strange to handle, but playable. But is needed to put the aiming sensibility at the minimum, because , if not, aiming is very "nervious" and not very precise. But yes, it's clear that it was originally a PS game, optimized for gamepad, apart only autosaving on checkpoints, worst, no difficult settings, hardcore by default. I'm currently playing it, dying 6 times in the prologue. Edited November 29 by Zerush 1 Quote
revelator Posted November 30 Report Posted November 30 got both an ultrawide and a 4k display, funnily the 4k display is the one it has less problems with since it is standard 16:9 so it looks ok even in 1920x1080. my ultrawide is an older asus 3440x1440 100hz so a mix between a 2k and a 4k screen and many older games have trouble with it sadly (letterboxing smearing etc), looks stunningly good when the game does support it though. revelator Posted November 30 Report Posted November 30 in retrospect an ultrawide is probably better for working with many open windows since it takes away the need for having dual monitors. Quote
jaxa Posted November 30 Report Posted November 30 I could have gotten a 1440p 165 Hz Samsung display clearance for cheap but I passed on it. Oh well. 1 Quote
revelator Posted November 30 Report Posted November 30 bad luck though be carefull with the models from samsung with external psu's they have a nasty tendency to either blow up or just go dead (bad caps) shortly after the warranty period has passed. had two samsungs and the psu died that way on both, well i still have the other one but i bought an aftermarket psu for it and it still works (going on 5 years now). 1 Quote

Zerush Posted Thursday at 09:08 PM Report Posted Thursday at 09:08 PM (edited) Most DigiPen Games in Steam (a lot of all kind) are completly free. Steam generally has a lot of free games, more than most others, apart of the Giveaways. Edited Thursday at 09:17 PM by Zerush 2 Quote
