By the way, I also wanted to ask:

1. Saint Lucia seems incomplete without the crypt added. Is it going to be added?

2. Even this map seems to be larger than the standard Thief 3 maps, how large are you capable of making maps? I played Doom 3 a bit and their maps seem to be pretty big.

2. I have seen some extremely large TDM maps currently in alpha/beta stages. Thief 3 Deadly Shadows will be put to shame. :)

1. You're referring to the

unopenable door in the passage down the bottom?

It's been a long time, but IIRC

there is a crypt behind that door, you just need to find an alternate route into it.

I could be wrong though - might be thinking of another area.

2. Yup. There's at least one I'm thinking of that's epic. :)

My games | Public Service Announcement: TDM is not set in the Thief universe. The city in which it takes place is not the City from Thief. The player character is not called Garrett. Any person who contradicts these facts will be subjected to disapproving stares.

Wait you mean the place that you go to by elevator with one guard? Well I guess that makes sense now...Lol, I was kind of expecting some haunts or zombies I guess. Just seemed to small to be a "real" crypt Lol

Great news. :)

Heh. Well, it is a smallish church. :)

Any chances to see St. Lucia for TDM 1.00?

My computer was being repaired for the last few weeks (just got it back), but shortly before it broke I finally got a chance to play through the "The Tears of Saint Lucia" mission. And I want to saw how good it is, everything is so well done! :) Great level design, story, voices, lighting, just the whole thing is quite polished and it gives you an idea of just how powerful the Doom III engine combined with The Dark Mod is for making elaborate Thief missions. Felt like a real Thief story in this mission, and I can't wait to see what great Thief fan missions the many dedicated Thief fans out there will make using The Dark Mod. :)

I'll be updating it for TDM1.0 just enough so that it works and you guys can replay it. Everytime I think I'm going to get time to do it I end up being wrong though which has sucked. I really want to get it done for an Xmas present :P

The reasons are:

1) Me and Fidcal have a project which is an entirely new level so there'd be no point into putting a bunch of effort into adding to saintlucia when you have this entirely new map! :)

2) I officially finish my undergrad degree (BBA) in 3 weeks :) And I'm so tired from studying I feel like I'm going to die :P

Hi guys, I need help.

How do I drop the hammer on the Lucia statue? Oh, and while I'm at it, where do I find the ...thing that makes the statue weep?

Thanks in advance!

I didn't even know..

.. there was something that makes the statue weeps!

But just push the hammer with your body. Maybe it got stuck somewhere.

Are we talking about the same hammer that lies on that framework above the statue?

Yes. Climb up the wooden scaffolding, and run at the hammer to push it off the scaffolding and onto the statue. Might take some fiddling but it's definitely doable.

Thanks, guys. After a little trying I managed to do it.

Turns out I had canted the hammer slightly by not pushing it in exactly the direction the mapper had intended me to.

All ist well, and now off to the thingy that makes the statue weep. You don't happen to remember where that was?

If you're talking about the relic, you need to look:

Any word on when the mission will be updated for version 1.0? :)

LeatherMan: I look forward to seeing these huge Thief fan mission levels. I bet the fan mission designers are having a field day with the mighty DOOM III engine. :)

I just uploaded a new version of the Visible Player Hands mod. It's been updated for TDM 2.13 and has new animations. Check out the post if you're interested!

I moved from Manjaro Linux (rolling release) to Linux Mint (LTS). One of the reasons was that I found the updates a bit too often and long. But now on Mint I get updates every day, although they're usually small updates.

I'd like to track my level design progress a bit more often now, so I'm using the feed in my profile here.
I've been working intensively on Springheel's YouTube course over the past few days. I'm currently up to lesson 8. There is so much information that needs to be processed and practiced.
I have started to create my own house. As I don't have the imagination to create a good floor plan, I grabbed a floor plan generator from Watabou and experimented with it. I chose a floor plan that I will modify slightly, but at least I now have an initial idea.
I used two guards as a measuring tape: The rooms are two guards high. It turned out that I can simply double the number of boxes in DarkRadiant in grid size 8 that are drawn in the floor plan.
I practiced the simplest things on the floor plan first. Drawing walls, cutting walls, inserting doors, cutting out frames, creating VisPortals, furnishing rooms.
I have had my first success in creating a book. Creating a book was easier than I thought. I have a few ideas with books. The level I'm creating will be more or less a chill level, just for me, where I'll try out a few things. I don't have an idea for my own mission yet. I want to start small first.
For the cellar, I wanted to have a second entrance, which should be on the outside. I'm fascinated by these basement doors from the USA, I think they're called Bilco basement doors. They are very unusual in Germany, but this type of access is sometimes used for deliveries to restaurants etc., where barrels can be rolled or lifted into the cellar.
I used two Hatch Doors, but they got completely disoriented after turning. I have since got them reasonably tamed. It's not perfect, but it's acceptable.
In the cellar today I experimented with a trap door that leads to a shaft system. The rooms aren't practically finished yet, but I want to continue working on the floor plan for now. I'll be starting on the upper floor very soon.

On a lighter note, thanks to my cat-like reflexes, my superior puzzle skills and my perfect memory, I was able to beat the remastered version of "Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation" in a new superhuman record time of 23 h : 35 m, worship me!
