I think that what this, "D-K" affect really comes down to is a great imbalance. It's common to see the individual who successfully utilizes self confidence and superiority as a means to an end.
The imbalance occurs when the inept subject continues to elevate themselves as a response to poor results. Ergo, the illusion is perpetuated.
