Sorry, I just saw Baddcog debating so heavy Teef supporters over at TTLG and it tripped my insanity alert level. I'll have grayman fix that for nbohr1more v 2.03

I feel we're going back to that time when we carried a couple of batteries in our pockets.

some one ought to develop a tesla type power system for mobile phones, then the battery would just be there to connect up to the power through the radio waves.

  5. The Dark Mod is in Moddb's Top 100 list yet again! Thanks for the votes!

      lost_soul

It seems like the Intel linux drivers have made a lot of progress in terms of speed lately. This is great! I've a feeling Valve is partly the reason for this.

Oy... The wiki link issue is because their site sanitizes the apostrophe. I'll need to create a redirect in the wiki and point to that...

So with the use of "floor", you can potentially save a lot of time manually dragging things down so they sit on the ground? That sounds pretty useful

  12. Lords & Legacy... A fantastic upcoming FM with a huge mantling playground. Coming soon...

    1. Obsttorte

      Obsttorte

It's good to see that so many new FM's (and FMA's) are upcoming the last time. This gives me hope for the near future, especially for the next year when TDM is rising like a phoenix from the ashes of Thi4f.

  13. Business as Usual v3... a good platform for a temperature meter system?

    1. Show previous comments  6 more
    2. Obsttorte

      Obsttorte

You can either have a heat stim that tells the script that it is warm or a cold stim that tells the stim that it is cold. Depends on the mission I guess.

Another idea would be to use the location system and let the script read out a temperature spawnarg on the location entities.

    3. grayman

      grayman

In the North uses a temperature spawnarg on the location entities to determine whether to create breath puffs or not. Feel free to read the script. Look for BreathPuff().

    4. nbohr1more

      nbohr1more

Heh. Biker is already using that script. Thanks Grayman! Now I've gotta figure out how the breath meter works to make a temperature meter GUI...

  14. Seeing a lot of Internet folks defending Monsanto. I wonder how much they pay those people to post in discussions

    1. demagogue

      demagogue

I would defend them, or at least give another side, just to force the critics to shore up their arguments; they're often emotive tosh. But my first (legal) job was researching agriculture regulation, including GMOs... I've looked at Monsanto almost every possible way there is to look at them (as an independent academic; I'd be the last to over-defend them too.)

    2. demagogue

      demagogue

I have a libertarian edge which cuts in two directions. I distrust the concentration of too much power in mega-companies, but I think the state needs a good reason (more than a FB bumper sticker) to intervene in the market too. So I deeply distrust them and would keep an eye on them, but for bigger reasons I'd want the gov't to have good reasons and a plan to stamp it down so it doesn't justify more intrusion.

    3. nbohr1more

      nbohr1more

I am not per se apposed to GMO's. I just wish that the defacto producer of them didn't have the sordid ethical past of Monsanto. Yes, we shouldn't be flailing with hysterics either way.

  15. Melan, remember when you wished you could play the 2001 version of DNF? http://www.moddb.com/mods/duke-nukem-forever

Terrorists don't have actual political aims they're after in any realistic strategic sense.

    3. nbohr1more

      nbohr1more

Well, the question is... Did we ever take down the auto-destruct system? Meaning, could a terrorist exploit MAD and make our defense system think it's a Russian or Chinese attack? Or was that a bluff? Was a true first strike never anticipated and therefore a slow response was all that was ever possible. Was the whole MAD scheme a convenient fiction?

    4. demagogue

      demagogue

I read an article (IIRC) where they were talking about how to handle terrorists doing exactly that (although it'd be hard; they'd have to simulate an ICMB launch plume in their territory when they'll be lucky to have short range rockets). But to answer the question: no, the MAD apparatus has basically been dismantled since '91 AFAIK (e.g., the B52s that used to go over my house every day stopped & the base shut down, same for subs, ICBM sites, etc).

    3. nbohr1more

      nbohr1more

No problem that I know of. I just think it's a cool feature and wonder if it's been tried yet... Much better than using difficulty spawnargs for performance changes to maps (like HoLS does).

      Baal

These might be helpful for the map Bikerdude and I are working on. A lot of objects in some areas. Thanks for the hint.

      nbohr1more

I got the Complete Collection DVD for xmas so now I finally have T2 and TDS. The euphoria has worn off a little since encountering the terrible lock-picking in TDS.

It's a total conversion mod for Crysis Wars that changes the gameplay from men running around in nanosuits and real world style tanks, to combined arms mech combat. It won a moddb award a few years back (best upcoming, I think), and has placed as an honourable mention (due to not being able to win twice rules) until this year, where it seems to have not gotten enough votes to even make it to round 2. Not sure if that's because PGI's F2P game MechWarrior Online has taken too many o...
