  1. @geegeeright, one more thing: IDGAF about the name Ok, it might sound a bit generic, but the bigger (but still small) issue was that the description also made it sound kinda basic - there probably are several missions about acquiring a cure for some kind of plague (e.g. housecall, I think there's at least one more but don't remember exactly) so a description that makes this mission stand apart might help. Even if it's just something like "Collaborate with the pagans to find a cure for your daughters sickness" But this is also no biggie of course. What I also forgot to mention, I also enjoyed the humor Just one more little nitpick (sorry, I start to feel like Columbo), as I just read that in another comment: I also didn't get what the gargoyle switch was for. I frobbed that thing and apparently nothing happened so I assumed that I'd need something to interact with it (maybe to open the glass case). According to a comment that switched off Walking Stick defences, so I never noticed those existed in the first place
  3. This is an experimental GUI app for managing and packing Dark Mod missions. It's a successor to FM Packer but with a GUI, that I've been working on for some time. It's now at a stage where I feel somewhat comfortable sharing. Having a GUI unlocks potential for more in depth management of fms, which I intend to explore in the future. You can download the binaries here: https://github.com/Skaruts/tdm_packer_2/releases Currently: it can pack your selected mission into the pk4 at a click of a button it provides an editor for a .pkignore file where you specify which files to exclude from the pk4 it gives you a handy tree view of both the included and excluded files (Shift+LMB to fully expand/contract branches) it can launch TDM or DarkRadiant for the selected mission, or run a second installation of TDM to test your pk4 in isolation (see the menu Settings->Paths) it automatically writes your map sequence into the appropriate file all maps, except the ones in the map sequence, are auto excluded from the pk4 Important: This is still an experimental alpha version, so backup your missions before using it. Note: For now I provided binaries for Windows and Linux. I don't have a Linux system to test the binaries yet, though, so they may or may not work properly. As a last resort, one can still run this app from the source code by running the Godot Engine itself from the terminal with the "--path path/to/project" argument. (Godot itself is just a simple executable and requires no installation.)

  5. Not a big deal but it would be nice to remove these missions, as it stands any time I download a mission I get something like this— *mission *mission mission *mission mission *mission *mission mission It frankly just looks ugly and is just an annoyance. If I'm to assume "translation" means that mission is available in another language then that's probably not relevant for 99% of players who have already done that mission in their native language. Unless of course I have mistook the meaning of translation??
  6. No, there are no rope arrows. Everything you need to do is climbable. You can pick up the map from Bromwich's office near the start of the mission.
  7. I took some time to sit on my thoughts on this one, so I forget my exact totals, but I completed this mission in around 2hrs and had ~7000/11000 loot on the middle difficulty setting. I enjoyed my time overall? But a lot of quality issues held me back on this one: - The AI really seemed to be out for my blood, and I'm not sure why or how they saw me lots of times. I think at one point I had 6 guards running around the market place. I think this was maybe a portaling issue? Because I managed to piss off guards in neighboring buildings or on different streets often during this mission. - The do-not-kill objective didn't work. I discovered this by blackjacking a sleeping commoner who bethesda-physics'd into the wall so hard that she died (a TDM classic, not the fault of this mission), and the objective didn't tick failure. I used this to my advantage for the second half of the mission and made the streets run red because of my previous AI woes. - The mission was very flat. There weren't a lot of opportunities to run across rooftops, crawl through sewers, or emerge through vent shafts to new floors of buildings. There was a little bit of all of that, but I was struck by how isolated and one-off those moments felt, and how the streets were perfectly level from one side of the map to the other. - I found lots of polish issues in the geometry, including a pretty sizeable gap in the ceiling of a side room in the pumping station, windows not aligned to the buildings they were supposed to be attached to, and a visible seam through the second floor of the manor under a bedroom door. That said, I liked the ambition and creativity overall, and that kept me going. I think I'm at like a 6/10 or 7/10 on this mission. Good effort, solid ambition, needs refinement.
  8. A quick demo video of using a fire arrow to blast jump up to new heights. It may be loud and harmful to the user, but it's still a fun option! Done on the mission "Tears of St. Lucia" on Expert... which thankfully doesn't seem to affect the self-damage.

  10. +++ Announcing the Heart of Lone Salvation +++ Enjoy your extended weekend with this monster easter egg! Heart is a full-size Dark Mod FM, the third in the Thief's Den series in which you play Farrell. Story: Not heard from Sam since I turned down the Edridge job as too risky. Now I'm low on funds and have no choice. A gem called the Heart of Lone Salvation which they say brings good luck - but only once. Sounds foolish but who cares? Worth a fortune on the thieves' market if I can get inside Edridge Hall - and Lord Edridge is very wealthy. Sam knew him from the old days as a common lifter who made good when he found the Heart. It's a beautiful night - dank, cold; fog's rolling in; maybe Edridge's luck is about to run out. Must read: The Heart must NOT be destroyed until you have finished all your other objectives. If you have then sorry, it may be that you will have to noclip to finish the mission. Nobody, including myself, ever did it that way before. I'll have to find a solution and do an update in the future. SIZE: ALLOW 5 TO 6 HOURS PLAY FIRST TIME AROUNDPERFORMANCE: Players with low end machines should play this with low settings on Hard-LoPC [difficulty level] with fewer guards. You won't miss anything. I've played it on a 2GB machine with an old Geforce FX5900 card. Lag in some areas but tolerable.SECRETS: There are many 'secrets' in this FM. If you don't like secrets, [then to] turn off 'Found Secret' messages, create/add to autoexec.cfg in doom3/base a line:seta mvr_show_secrets 0In-Game FOG: Game characters may see through fog better than you. Take extra care.Player tools Slow Match: You have a slow match (smouldering splint) and a spare [match] important to this mission so don't lose them. Practice on any candle or torch that is not lit or just as a convenient light in a dark area. Ghosters can use it to relight extinguished flames. Use the drop control to put the match in your hands and move the match so the glowing end is close to the wick, etc. Press the 'Use' control to put the match back in your inventory bag.BODIES: You need space to shoulder a body as well as drop one so you may need to drag into an open area before trying to shoulder again with the 'use' control.NEW OBJECTIVES: New objectives go to the top of the list to make them easier to find. Sometimes more than one at once.BRIEFING: Do not use Esc during the briefing or the cursor becomes invisible. (You can still select blind though looking for highlights.) You can skip the briefing with the left mouse button. If you miss anything you can use the back button to show it again.Info: This mission was optimized and updated to version 2 by Bikerdude, a klot of bugs were quashed and performance improved through out the mission.
  11. I encountered incorrectly configured target_set_frobables in drawers of a desk at 1677.2 -74.09 218.25 (Hoppie Hypo). They're (only) triggered when the drawer opens. However, the way they work, each time they're triggered their state is toggled, so if they're currently disabling frobability and you trigger them, the items within it are made frobable - fine so far, now it's in the "enable frobability" state. But if they're triggered again, they will disable the frobability. This means that every second time a drawer of that desk is opened, the contents become unfrobable Solution: Also trigger when the drawer gets closed. Furthermore those drawers are missing the "successfully unlocked" sound. --- Otherwise great mission so far
  12. Mandrasola is a small sized map in which aspiring thief Thomas Porter steals some herbal products from a smuggler. The mission was created by me, Sotha and I wish to thank Bikerdude, BrokenArts and Ocn for playtesting and voice acting. Thanks goes naturally to everyone contributing and making TDM possible. This mission occurs chronologically before the Knighton's Manor, making it the first mission in the Thomas Porter series. Events in chronological order are: Mandrasola, The Knighton's Manor, The Beleaguered Fence, The Glenham Tower and The Transaction. The winter came early and suddenly this year. Weeks of strong blizzards and extremely harsh cold weather hit Bridgeport hard. With the seas completely frozen, a rare occurence indeed, most of the City harbor commerce has stopped completely. Vessels are stuck in the ice and no ship can leave or enter the City, resulting in the availability imported goods declining and their prices skyrocketing. One of these imported items is Mandrasola, a rare herbal product, which is imported overseas from the far southern continents. Mandrasola has its uses in alchemical cures and poisons, but mostly this substance is used for its narcotic qualities by commoners and even the nobility. The problem with Mandrasola is that excessive use is extremely addicting and the withdrawal effects are most grievious. Many are utterly incapable of stopping using Mandrasola and are transformed into quivering human ruins if they do no get their daily dose. And now this expensive and rare substance is running out from the whole City. Me and my fence, Lark Butternose, would love to grab this monopoly to ourselves: selling the last few doses in the City would probably be worth a fortune. According to Lark's sources, there remains only one smuggling lord who still has Mandrasola in stock. The problem is that this individual maintains an exclusive clandestine operation and only supplies a few nobles. Despite our best information gathering efforts we couldn't learn who the smuggler is and where he or she operates. Luckily we have an alternate plan. While searching for Mandrasola related information, we learned that a noblewoman called Lady Ludmilla is addicted to the substance and has paid high prices for small amounts of it. We also know that she has visited frequently someone in the Tanner's Ward waterfront, and since she goes to the area personally we believe she is visiting the smuggler. The plan is simple: I must monitor Ludmilla's most likely entryway to the Waterfront and then follow her to the smugglers hideout. I'd better be very careful around Ludmilla. She must not realise I'm following her or she probably won't lead me to her dealer. Hurting her is also out of the question. After she leads me to the smuggler's hideout, I can take my time to break in carefully and steal all the Mandrasola I can find. While I'm there it wouldn't be a bad idea to grab some loose valuables as well. I've now waited in the blistering cold for a few hours already. Looks like there are a few city watch patrols in the area to complicate matters... I think I heard a womans voice beyond the north gate. That must be lady Ludmilla, I haven't seen many ladies in these parts. I'd better get ready.. Links: Use the ingame downloader to get it. WARNING! Someone always fails to use spoiler tags. I do not recommend reading any further until you've played the mission.
  13. This reminds me of Chronicles or Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena... One of my favorite games ever, unfunctional, because of the copy protection. That said, I do get though, that software is a phase-out model. At some point, publishers or developers simply can't guarantee anymore that the stuff will run on current software or hardware. And, it's also not easy to provide the games as is, with a license which allows modifcation of any kind. I can't count how many times I read "Please Open Source your software!". Well, it's not that easy, with potentially loads of licensed code or assets.
  14. That's correct but many people just use the in-game mission downloader to check for new stuff without even looking at the forums, which is what I did. In the past a lot of missions that required a newer version of the game executable and assets would tell you this when you tried to start them up. I was just reporting on this and that you don't need to reinstall, just update via tdm_updater if you find this issue.
  15. Apply a thin layer of nodrawsolid with your desired sound over the top. If you want to use custom sounds, you need to create a .sndshd text file that points to it, or just copy one from the base mod and change it to your file path. You can unzip .pk4s to edit the contents, just make sure you include anything you change under a different name in your mission .pk4 so it doesn't overwrite the base mod.
  16. Just finished this amazing mission. I really like how dense the world is, and the story intrigued me. It is a very good one! Personally I believe this mission to be my favorite. Overall, thank you all who worked on this map for that amazing experience! One question, however, bugs me a bit.
  17. Starting a playthrough of the whole Dark Mod, from oldest mission to newest. I've knocked over the first few already and about to start Living Expenses. Only ~170 missions to go!

You can see my progress so far here:

Next up is another mission I've been not looking forward to: Alchemist. I dislike it because all the guards start off in berzerk mode, making it feel like I've messed up even before I started

you're making great progress. thanks for adding your playthrough link, adding the play time is helpful but it'd also be interesting if you added some general observations/comments, just a thought.

I find myself enjoying the older and smaller missions like Too Late and Special Delivery a lot. They make a nice change of pace from the huge sprawlers we play nowadays.

  18. Wonderful map. Brutally difficult on "difficult", which of course I like. I'm curious if the mission is any easier at the lower difficulty settings or if it only changes the loot objective. I only managed 4048, so clearly I missed a lot! I only really got frustrated when I ended up using noclip, which I have never done before. I replayed that bit with the gamma turned up after reading another player's post. I found the way, so I could finish without resorting to cheating Thanks for the great mission! [EDIT] I went back in and found I missed ended up with 7088. Well worth retracing my steps for that.
  19. I've tried it several times, using both the most recent release and custom versions, but the same results.
  20. I think this is a great mission, after having played it. Wanted to also post and say that I initially had the same issue as a user on the first page with the black untextured floors and some walls. I think the issue is the mission doesn't check the version of the game that's being played--I had 2.12 installed and it started the mission without asking me to update. After running tdm_installer and forcing a file analysis and then updating to 2.13 not only did the pure black texture issues go away but the slight framerate issues I was having in some of the outdoor areas disappeared as well.
  21. somehow the quote box has precluded adding my own text, but I wanted to say I found the hint but never found the location mentioned. Many of my thoughts about the mission (story-light, exploration-heavy) have been posted, but I wanted to acknowledge the reference to The note on the door made me think I needed a key from the Watch Captain so I trekked over there to find I found a foul-smelling key once I was inside, can I have a hint where to use it?
  22. OK, I loved this mission, I've loved every one of the lieutenant series so far The only issue I did have was a framerate drop on the Everywhere else was smooth as silk I got all the loot* & everyone apart from the the non KO guards is asleep, no issues with KOing, spent a lot of time staring at things wondering how I was going to get up/down/across to them & thinking "this is never going to work" except it did, I do like puzzles like that * So thank you for this
  23. Hello guys, I just thought that when The Dark Mod is going to be standalone soon, a lot of people will try it and they could eventually like it (more) if it was translated to their own language. I am from Czech Republic and could try to do translation of czech part, I also have a friend from Spain. My question is - do you guys have something like Text File with all menus? Then I can move onto translating FM's one by one.
  24. After several months of hard (although very enjoyable) work, I’m proud to announce the release of my first FM - “Cole Hurst 1: Eaton”. Mission description In the northern town of Eaton, Lord Mayor Zelmer is hosting a lavish party at his luxurious estate to celebrate Eaton's establishment... The city's elite, a famous musician and even the Queen will be partaking in tonight's festivities. Screenshots 1-Gatwick.jpg 2-Streets.jpg 3-Mansion.jpg 4-Lobby.jpg 5-Theatre.jpg 6-Room.jpg Download “Cole Hurst 1: Eaton” should already be available for download in the game, but you can also grab a copy of version 1.0 from here. To install this copy, simply place the downloaded file named “ch1_eaton.pk4” in your “[the dark mod]/fms/” folder. Notes I would say this FM could primarily be considered a “traditional mansion heist” mission. These were by far my favorite type of Thief 1/2 levels which I have very fond memories of playing through as a child. I suppose this is my humble attempt to create something vaguely similar... I have tried my best to make the story, the readables and the conversations as interesting as I could and so I really do hope that some of you will find it enjoyable. The mission features: I already have some relatively concrete ideas for a follow-on mission in mind, so hopefully I will have time to continue my mapping efforts soon(ish) :) Contributions I have been overwhelmed by the amount of people interested in helping me with this mission. A huge thanks to each and every one of you! Story Kelly Hrupa Voice actors: twhalen2600 (AKA @Benny_the_guard) Kelly Hrupa Testers: @Acolytesix- brisk puzzle solver @duzenko - the man with the admin tools @JackFarmer - objective wrangler @Shadow - a certified spider-monkey who refuse to stay caged @Cambridge Spy - an eagle-eyed book-worm @wesp5 - eager candle-snuffer @madtaffer – readability advisor @prjames - spider assassin @suzy8track – book magician @datiswous – destroyer of crates I would also like to say a special thanks to @Dragofer who has been very helpful with debugging and general advice in cases where I had absolutely no idea what to do. @duzenko has also been very responsive to any game-related bugs that I’ve encountered during the beta phase and also thanks to @nbohr1more for handling this release for me. As I am completely new to mapping in general, I also found @Springheel‘s wonderful TDM New Mappers Workshop extremely helpful when I was first getting started, so thank you very much for creating it. Known bugs/issues While this mission has spent quite some time in beta testing, I’m sure that some of you will discover shortcomings that my wonderful beta testers and I have overlooked. In that case, please do get in touch and I will make sure to address it (to the best of my abilities) in a future update. There are unfortunately also a few (primarily cosmetic) things that I have been unable to solve – at least for this release: The small church model used in Gatwick square has low-resolution textures applied Some picture frames do not match the original frame after being stolen Strange looking shadows on the greenhouses in the garden Visible vertical lines on some interior walls Various gaps/holes in some of the models that I have chosen to use The female mansion lobby guard occasionally sound like a dude EDIT 2025-03-23 Revived dead download link for version 1.0. I plan to release version 1.1 in a few days time. I will try to figure out a way to have it beta tested in another thread beforehand... EDIT 2025-03-24 Version 1.1 of this mission is now in beta testing on this separate thread.
