  1. I've upgraded IPB to the latest stable version, and since this was a major upgrade (from 2.3.6) I also had to re-do the forum style. Most of the new stuff is in place, but I bet that the logo will be changed. One of the many new features in version 3 is rating of posts and also a "report spammer" ability which will make it easier to single out spam bots and ban then at sight. Hopefully this will stop some of the spam threads we've seen recently. Make sure to empty your browser cache if you're experiencing any problems. And please report any errors etc in this thread.   2. Hi guys, first of all thank you thank you thank you and thank you for the 2.0 standalone version of your impressive game! Really, the dark mod (that now is a standalone game, no more just a mod, you could adapt the name like "the dark game" or "the-real-thief-legacy" ) is, in my opinion, one of the best game out there. Just thank you. I recently have played the Penumbra games and one thing that I have really appreciated of that game was how your character interacts with doors. It is a nice mechanism that gives you realistic controls over doors. In my opinion it is perfect for a game like The Dark Mod, where do you have a very nice control of object but not over important components of the game like doors and windows. Do you think it could be a good (and feasible) improvement for the game? I see many use cases for it like open a door just a little bit to see (and hear) what's behind it and then open it completely when you are sure. Below a little example of Penumbra and how do you interact with objects and doors: Again thank you for the game. I'm updating the missions right now...

  4. I downloaded ver 2.00 of TDM and want to do the training mission but it doesn't open to the "training rooms". Instead it starts something with an Archbishop and water treatment plant. I'm not learning the system and getting killed a lot. Where do I get the training mission.pk4 file (with the rooms)?

      Sounds like you're installing Tears of St. Lucia instead of the Training Mission.

      It is slightly counter-intuitive, but you have to click on the "training mission" on the right, click on "install mission", the game will restart, now you can select start mission. "start mission" do not case about what you selected on the right, only what you installed.

      St Lucia was being loaded. I removed all pk4 files but the training mission.pk4 file as my final test and still got the St. Lucia mission. The only diff between the two files is the introductory screens and thte file size. I need to have the correct training mission.pk4 file. anyone know where I can snag it?

      I'm using the CD with TG, T2 and T3 on it. Darkloader doesn't like it. I can't get TG FMs to work

  7. Im helping Kvorning with the latest update to his LnL Fm and it occured to me to ask if there is a way to fade in/out the opening and closing of a 'Func_portal' via scripting or some such? the idea being it dosent snap on and off etc.

Out of interest really as if a door is left slightly ajar so that you can peek through it the guard doesn't seem to notice Is the degree of opening versus the guard seeing it variable or a fixed amount The other thing is that if the guard is closing a door and you interrupt the movement he doesn't seem to notice. Is this something which could be fixed as it can make it very easy to get through locked doors
  9. Ever have a file that won't open? I did. I wondered why. I ran "strings" on the file to see what data was inside and got nothing. Then I opened it with a hex editor and had a look... all zeros...? Its nice to have an OS that ships with useful tools like this by default.

  19. [update] Spoke to Marcus @AMD UK on the phone and as it turns out a number of complaints have been made against "Spyre". My AMD forum account has been unbarred and my Ip address unblocked!!! Bought a new gfx card for xmas, been having issues with mainly the driver So I though a good place to look for support and polity vent etc - or so I thought My second post got flamed by some smart arse fanboy and then promptly locked, to which I reported the posted asking why it had been locked.. and then my account on there got deleted and my Ip blocked (untill the isp dhcp refreshed etc) so I cant login even with a different account name. I have emailed AMD directly about this as I did nothing wrong according the t&c's and I got no warning Pm or email from the forum mods. Now I've been over at the nVidia forums a long while back when I had the 8800GTX when I was equally frustrated when posting about the driver issue with thief etc, but at no point did a thread get locked or worse my account deleted. I don't have loyalty to AMD or nVidia but depending on the answer I get from AMD next week this card maybe going back and AMD will be added to the list of manufactures I will never buy anything from again.   20. I feel like this should be fairly easy but I'm not quite sure how to achieve it. I want to have an AI walk over and open a chest. I've seen them do this by accident, but I'm not sure how to get them to do it on purpose. I can get them to walk over and play an appropriate animation, but what can you do to actually trigger the chest to open at the right moment?
