  1. May be overloaded at the moment. Eidos forums are on fire post-announcement but TTLG's Thief Gen was already heading towards mental for the last 24 hours.
  2. Somebody should promote TDM here: http://www.osnews.com/story/25328/The_State_of_Linux_Gaming_2011 They should know that there are over FIFTY missions to play and that this is nothing at all like Doom 3.
  3. There's a big difference between a lovingly crafted fan mission and a corporate producton line, who's only purpose is to squeeze even more money out of fans. Franchises are never good, be it Rocky V, TombRaider VIII or Final Fantasy X.
  4. When one has produced a FM it's very difficult for me to understand how one cannot be humble to others that are producing missions. It's so much work that goes into creating these things

    Thief 4

I feel compelled to say, this has been known for quite a while now. http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?...933#post1807933
  6. I just avoided that street, nothing there anyway. Finished it too -Biker, I was referring to future missions I know you're always working on something TDM... As for my mission, once I get the hang of DR I'm gonna base my FM on 'The White Lady' at Bamberger Castle in the UK still have some research to do about the story of that ghost. Got most of the layout of the castle over the years & lots of pics when I was there
  7. I'm quite a fan of Tim Burton's work too, if not a creative genius, certainly one of the best film makers around. I have no idea what he looks like though, so I can't comment on his haircut
  8. Yes, my latest two missions have had a bit too much emphasize on the story and it has been too overwhelming and it has had it's toll on the gameplay. NAOG will be much more "light" on the story and I shall aim for a much better gameplay experience. Not to unveil anything but I can say as much as every difficulty will be an unique experience Haha, I was planning on not mapping any more for a while, but now I'm all fired up on continuing with this beast!
  9. what about some readables contest entries ? TDM need such missions badly PS "Remember these pretty maps from thief 1?" you breaking the law by saying that you never played Thief 1,so you cant remember it yourself
  10. And the Matrix; well i thought the first one was great, especially above the sequels. I think it was because the Martial Arts were more realistic in the first one. The second one had alot more fake stuff; and the final battle at the end of the third one? IMO that fight was just retarded. I'm quite a big fan of the old (and new) chinese Kung Fu and Wuxia movies where guys are flying through the air and doing totally impossible martial arts stuff. I think its because they're either humurous or artistic; like Hero; and also because they don't abundantly use CG actors. The 2nd and 3rd Matrix's took themselves way to seriously to be funny; and used far too much CG Neo to warrant what I would I call a good fight scene (though i'll make an exception for the Neo vs. Seraph one). The movie series which started out so promising ended up shooting itself in the foot. Another movie that did the same thing was Blade 2; which had some CG department butcher the fight scenes into something resembling the game Virtua-fighter, only with worse graphics. I preffered the 1st and 3rd movies much more. I know CG stuff is hard, but it has to be done well in a fight scene otherwise it looks crap; in that case I would prefer actors flying through the air with strings attached to them.
  11. I've been asked to add a poll to this topic, so there you go. Given the age of this little mission and the quality of all the missions that came after it I'm almost curious what the results will be.
  12. brethren

    Thief 4

I read somewhere the Crystal (Tomb Raider Underworld) engine has been highly modified for Deux Ex 3 and is barely recognizable, whatever that means. Whatever that does mean, you can bet it will be even more so (modified) for T4. Edit: Here's, its in the faq from the Eidos forums:
  13. Just to add a great big thank you for all the help. I hope, eventually, to get through all the missions and despite a few problems I am really enjoying playing them
  14. Looks terrific Seuchensoldat! It certainly stands-up well against the other city missions visually. No need to fear any harsh words from me
  15. @Noisycricket: I'll set you up as Animation Contributor in a minute. There is a startup post describing how to get ready for direct contribution here: http://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?showtopic=6694 Now I've got 2 requests for you: - Please take your time to read through that post, it contains a lot of info for starters. - Please stick around for more than just one or two animations. The team is "marked" by literally dozens of people showing up, putting efforts in their application, only to disappear right after they got SVN access. Please don't be one of them, it's so disheartening for the team to invest time on a newcomer, help him getting ready only to see after three weeks that time is wasted for nothing. That said, we're happy to help in case you're hitting a wall or something.
  16. I Love spooky missions Zombies, not so much... I do have a problem though. When I chase the other thief I follow him/her down the stairs, through the dining hall, but when I get to the lobby (behind the grand staircases) I see the footprints going under the door, but the door is locked. How can I follow the thief then??
  17. I'm pretty sure we tried all those things a year ago when this first came up. Let me see if I can find the thread. This is all I can find at the moment: http://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?showt...hinges&st=0 I don't remember, but apparently: "Polygonoffset seems to be designed to address exactly this problem, but for some reason it doesn't work for me--it just turns the material black and the z-fighting is still there. I thought turning the texture into a decal might work, but it has the same result." Seems like there were a few working options: 1. Move the hinges further out on existing doors. 2. Make new door models with fully modeled hinges. 3. Use a LOD system to swap between two different models Maybe #2 is the way to go....would the extra polys be significant if they were non-shadowcasting? - That's annoying. It would take me literally 15 seconds each if they were .lwo files.
  18. It works like a charm for me too. Never had an issue with saves, but missions just wouldn't stay installed. Thanks.
  19. This was definitely an awesome mission! I'm a little over 200 short of the loot requirement on Expert, though--any ideas what I might be missing? Also, I found a glitch no one else has mentioned: I haven't been able to finish this because of being short on loot, but otherwise, this is definitely going on my favorite missions list. :-) --Jennifer
  20. There's a suspicious line here: [.\DarkMod\Missions\ModInfo.cpp ( 238):DEB (MAINMENU) FR: 0] Couldn't find darkmod.txt for mod betrayal -applaunch 9050. which might indicate that the current mod parameters are misunderstood by DOOM3.exe. Can you please also attach the currentfm.txt file and the tdmlauncher.log file? I'd also like to see the DarkMod.log file after you installed an FM: - Start the game - Install the FM - When the dialog is displayed "Game will be restarted now" - don't click OK, instead hit Alt+F4. - Get the darkmod.log file and upload it to somewhere
  21. I have a hard time choosing a favorite mission genre but the genre I've developed a sweet-tooth for is the "Prison Escape". The mission "Trapped!" is often near the top of my list. I also enjoyed "Betrayal" though it beats my poor lowend PC senseless. I guess Beleaguered Fence counts to some degree. Hell I even get a kick outta the zombie prisons in NHAT and the mini prisons in several of Biker's missions. I am really looking forward to HappyCheeze's upcoming prison mission.
  22. And then you've got Nehrim, a total conversion, unofficial patches, script extender, plenty of other mods. If we judged TDM, Oblivion, Skyrim, etc. by its crappiest mods and missions, we might have a problem.
  23. 1) In Tears of Saint Lucia (And thief 1-2), if your lightgem was at its lowest, you could only be noticed by touch or sound. 1) It's pretty unimpressive without 3rd person view 2) In 1st person, you would have to draw clunky and sort of ugly "ghostly body parts" to show as a "You are wall-hugging" indicator (like Thief 3 did). What you said was absolutely true in Thief 3, but it unfortunately doesn't work well in a first-person game. I'm almost certain that after we release, someone will come around with a Dark Mod patch or mod that could add 3rd person and wall-hugging. By the way, glad to see you registered on the forums and show such interest in the mod!
