So, what are you working on right now?

My solution was to move snow further away (but mine's light flurries).

I was thinking it'd be nice if weather could be more like the SEED system, with areas that could be blocked out. But that (as well as were it like water) would mean removing particles at a certain point, instead of based on time expiration.

As I recall, the SEED system "can" control particles:

Oooo, intriguing, but sadly that's placing emitters, but not limiting or walling off particles from passing through a roof or walls like SEED entities can be blocked from spawning in specific areas. IE, affecting the emitters but not the particles resulting from emitters. Thank you for that reference though! *stores in mental toolkit for future

My main focus is still on writing my next novel, but it looks like I've got another FM in me . It won't be as ambitious or large as Requiem was, but here are a few screens of what will hopefully be a small two-level campaign. Crits and suggestions for improvement are welcome as always!

That sunlight-through-the-window effect is gorgeous, but to me it looks like it's at the wrong angle compared to where the sun is on the skybox. I think I'd expect the sunlight more to be hitting the wall opposite the window (maybe even reaching to the ceiling - I mean, that sun's really low.)

Difficult to judge from 2D pix though, so happy to be told I'm just wrong.

Hey simplen00b,

I've done my best to match them up, but can you show me where you think they'd hit w/ an arrow or something. I'm having trouble seeing it with my minds eye.

Thanks!

Any chance of a couple of screenshots taken as though you were standing right by the window but with your back to it? (I.e. 180º to the direction of the original pix?) One for the location in pic #1 and another for the location in pix #3 ? (It looks like they're different rooms but facing in the same direction towards the sun - is that right?)

Wouldn't worry about it too much though. I'm probably over-thinking it (again), and suspect I wouldn't even notice it in gameplay. I'm just glad you may be gifting us with another FM in the near(ish) future. :)

If this FM will be accompanied by a novel again, I surely will buy that too. ;)

Hey SimpleN00b, I'll just have to put you on the beta testing team when the time comes :-).

@7upMan, sadly the next book is going to be sci-fi so, not thief related. I won't complain if you buy it though!

Looking really good! Those blue flames add a really nice effect. Can't wait to play! :)

I feel chilly just looking at the screenies.

I guess the Finnish winter also helps with that

It's dramatic. I wouldn't want to see it in every FM, but for one it definitely evokes a mood and leaves an impression.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

The torches have copper chloride in them? Propane? Alcohol? Something else making the flames blue we'll presumably stumble across in the mission?

It occurred to me the last pic I posted was almost a month ago, yeesh! Although I did this room way back then, I just added the wainscoting here tonight. (Also vastly improved the ceiling, not that it can be seen in the darkness, heh...)

Looks fantastic and it has a very nice lived in feeling to it.

Why so much blue? :o

They are supernatural flames. The manor has been abandoned for 10 years so having lit torches wouldn't make any sense. If they are supernatural, well then I guess anything is possible. The map also has a winter theme and natural flames from torches create a warm feeling that i want to avoid. Blue generally seems to be thought of as a cold colour. I really like the way it looks.

Blue is tricky, the human eye doesn't perceive it well (because Earth's air is actually blue, not clear). So yes, paler blue wouldn't be so monochromatic, would let objects' various colors show a bit, but might appear dim white surprisingly quickly. I might lean toward cyan, adding a touch more green than red, to help the blue not be overly bold, if convenient/desired.

Thanks guys, I guess I'll keep plugging away on this track then . SteveL and Obsttorte are working on a custom script right now that will make the map hopefully a lot more interesting too.

Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.
