SeriousToni's head model

I've messed around again with some head model try outs. I always wanted a sternly guard like they had for the Mechanists in Thief 2

She reminds me of Brienne from Game of Thrones. Definately a lady that i wouldn't want to make angry. Idont know anything about modelling so I cant give you any advice but it certainly looks good to me. We'd need someone to do some vocal sets for a female guard to go with it.

She looks *very* manly, I didn't even realize it was a she. I think the chin is way too manly, women seldom have such a strong chin. Maybe sharpen it a bit to make it obvious the character is a woman?

As an a example chin, here is a stern woman from Finland, professional boxer Eva Wahlström:

Are you gonna contribute the head to the mod?

I know just because I found SeriousToni's youtube channel (not really that hard), and there's a self-shot video. But maybe that's just of a friend & it's still ambiguous. That's more fun.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

Fantastic work SeriousToni! The updated model is much better.

Good to hear that you're almost ready to merge code Serpentine. Good luck with OpenMP.

I failed to understand the first part of STs post, but that is irrelevant.

The relevant thing is that the head is great! The side view looks very much like the latter Eva Wahlström picture I showed.

Very, very nice work. Are you a professional modeler? Commercial quality stuff in that screenshot of yours.

In my experience the excessive use of smileys is a female trait. :-P;-)B-)

Nice improvements on the female guard :-)

Hey but Thiefette is also a girl and she doesn't use that much smileys! :P

How many polys is that head? Those ears look like they're fully sculpted.

Yes, the head has about 25k polies on the lowest level right now.

Haha no no! Really this was my second head I modelled. I postet my first attempt somewhere here in the forums. I'll gang it on the attachments - it still needs some fixing but it could go as a cool desktop background.. ;) I started making models for my first map Sneak & Destroy, but they were only objects, nothing humanized. So I tried to make myself a head :D

Much better. The first one looked like the alien bounty hunter from the X Files. ;)

Like whom - Fox Moulder?? ^_^

I'm glad you people like it now, although my wild guess is that you just want to be friendly after trolling me so much today.. :P

Very impressive. They are so lifelike! I can't believe you haven't made tons these before.

This latter one looks like David Anders:

So... Will these be on TDM v1.09? Surely some steps are still to be done to get 'em ingame?

Yeah...the low poly will need to be closer to 1k.

The low-poly version would have to be made, and the dimensions would have to be set to fit our existing characters. The mesh would have to be rigged to our existing head skeleton. Teeth and a sock would have to be added if they're not there already and then exported to md5mesh format. Also an entitydef made. It's a fair amount of work.

I used sculptris (its free) to simplify highpoly sculpts before, it has a pretty good decimate tool that allows you to manually decrease detail in selected areas, carefully. Im sure there are better tools out there, Im a smalltime modeler, but thats what I used (for the skull model, for example).

Good work by the way, with the texture specially.

Haha, I didn't mean to look like I was trolling you ST.

You're a good member & well liked here, and I'm a fan of your work too.

The heads looks great. :)

For something like that I'd use zBrush. It also has a good tool for decreasing detail on selected features, and very natural for sculpting.

It's so much better for organic stuff working in a sculpter than poly-pushing in something like Lightwave (or Blender)... But for architecture & smaller things I'd still use LW because I know it much better and sometimes it's nice to just control the polys & surfaces outright.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

Thank you all for the praise and the tips, people

I didn't manage yet to recompile them to only 10.000 polies in a good way. Either they lose their UVWs or they look like the actor models in Tomb Raider 2, haha!

I'll try some more things out, but it could be that I need some help with the converting in the end

But if I find a good work flow of making them TDM ready, then I'll try to make even more heads, until it becomes boring again :P

PS: If you look closely to the "wallpaper version" with the male guard, you may notice the background scene... ;)
