I might be able to do both of those Goldwell and Melan. Depends on the whole timezone offset for when you make them available. I tend to see you guys posting stuff at 2 to 3AM EST

so I would miss the window there. Pretty amazing you would even have time for a beta!!!

Awesome, i'll pm you when it's ready.. I'd say the map is about 90% complete so far so a beta test tonight could be possible :)

Very nice storytelling, it flows just like in the classic Thief briefings.

Well my attempt was to make a puzzle mission where you're being buried alive and need to figure out how to get out of the coffin, and then you hear your captors getting mauled by revenants outside, which you then have to deal with in making your final escape from the misty haunted grounds once you're out.

 

But it wasn't really coming together and I don't have the time to make it into something fun now, unless pulling an arrow out of your knee to shoot a rat in a coffin without shooting yourself sounds fun. (It kind of is.) Maybe I'll get something working sometime. But in the meantime, here's a fun screenshot that'll be my contribution to the spirit of the contest.

 

Of course the obvious name for this would be "In a Grave Situation."

Dressing the set. New music in place. Prolly no fancy briefing, since there's no time to do one.

 

Starting objectives.

 

Hope I make it. Halloween is my better half's birthday, and my daughter has something planned, and I don't know what it is or how big a hit my contest entry will take. And to top it off, my better half gave me a big (surprise!) project to do for her class of little ones. Due Sunday.

Since it's so down-to-the-wire, unless the other mappers agree to deadline extension terms, I think the next best thing is to

disqualify the late entrants but calculate their scores anyway so that folks can see how they would've ranked had they been

able to meet the deadline.

 

Then we get the best of both worlds.

 

The folks who stuck within the deadline can reap the glory and those who didn't can still know whether they would've ranked highly or won.

 

If someone gets angry, we can have a mapping showdown\duel to settle the score!!! :)

Yes, quite. Just because you can't make the deadline, you shouldn't give up on completing your entry! Remember, it is a two-week contest. Two weeks' worth of time is not much!

Murphy's Law has struck.

 

Just when I was starting to feel good again about making tomorrow's deadline, my graphics card has begun glitching on me. (Little black squares everywhere, NVIDIA driver experienced a problem and recovered on its own, blah blah blah. 3 times in the past 30 mins.)

 

All attempts at updating drivers have hit a dead end.

 

Will struggle through, but don't want to be distracted too much.

Didnt we solve the GFX card issue with that PC a while ago..? in any even if it does crap out and its needs finishing drop me a PM.

 

I haven't had a graphics issue until tonight.

 

You looked at the sound card I'm using, and recommended an upgrade. I have the new card, but haven't installed it yet.

grayman: Better late than never! Why this contest matters is that we have a bunch of small missions to play, and because we can show people (again) that it is possible to do missions like these in a small timeframe. :)

      Was checking out old translation packs and decided to fire up TDM 1.07. Rightful Property with sub-20 FPS areas yay! ( same areas run at 180FPS with cranked eye candy on 2.12 )

      i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
      tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

      I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
      Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.
