My wife may have just gotten pregnant!

Long story short, I was basically born with a natural vasectomy (sp?), so they did a direct extraction (ouch!) last month and got a bunch of baby-makers which they promptly froze.

 

Then my wife went through an IVF (In-Vitro Fertilization) cycle (series of medications to prepare her body) and finally today they did the actual embryo transfer, so we'll find out in two weeks whether it worked!

 

Not a very romantic way to conceive, but hey, it's effective

 

(glad I'm not Catholic, where you're only allowed to have sex to procreate, or else I'd be forced to be a lifelong abstainer!)

Wow, for real, or is that just a pic off the net? If that's really them, that must be one of the earliest family photos in history. I've always thought it must be interesting (and weird) for kids growing up today to be able to see themselves as children or even infants on video... that pic above would be mind blowing. Going for twins?

It's for real. They transferred two embryos for a greater chance of pregnancy, and there is a small chance that both will work, so yes there could possibly be twins (fraternal). Yeah someday I will show my kid, "Here is a picture of you when you were three days old, literally!"

We'll find out tomorrow after a pregnancy test, but my wife's had some bleeding and called the doctor and they think that odds are it's a little miscarriage. I never got my hopes up too much, just waiting to see, but my wife is pretty broken up.

 

But we'll see for sure tomorrow, and if not then they'll plan another cycle attempt for IVF which all takes about a couple months.

A little bleeding may not mean much. My wife also had some bleeding when she got pregnant and it still worked out, so it might still be to early. Doesn't hurt to hold your thumbs though.

the pregnancy test came back negative, so it didn't work this time around.

 

we'll be starting another cycle and try again in about a couple months.
