Proof that TDM forums are intellectual, even the spambots are high brow.

I think the Phaedo has to be my favorite dialog. "He who contemplates existence through the medium of ideas, sees them only through a glass darkly".

  2. Amberstar: The complete Jochen Hippel score!

    So cool.

And so, I could kick up a discussion by just posting something enigmatic. (Actually, there is a hidden meaning, but it is, well, hidden ;))

      Thank you, grayman!

    3. Melan

      Melan

Interesting, quite high sound loss values there.

    4. SteveL

      SteveL

NB there's a bug with sound loss that causes sound card pops in a complex enough map. It'll be fixed soon in 2.04

Nope, but I'm contributing some hanged corpses, which fits the theme, I suppose.

  6. Asking on behalf of someone: when will restrictions on registration be lifted?

      Springheel

I don't know. I've asked modetwo about it but haven't heard back. He's the only one that can do it, I believe.

  7. Back from organising an international conference. Whew. Fun, but exhausting.

Sotha: That was just the list of presentations - we held the roundtable in a beer garden due to the good weather, had a reception in the evening, and a field trip the next day. Lotsa stuff.

Vae: That's really for the guests to say... but they seemed happy enough, so... :)

I don't know how it was over there, or if you even got one, but coach hire in the UK was an absolute nightmare. They're such money grabbers, and all miserable as anything.

Eh and where was that, you better not have been over in the UK without saying hello..!!!

It was Brussels, actually. Strange city.

    3. Bikerdude

Oh dear, the city of the eurocrats and all things bureaucratic. But I digress, I imagine the rest of the city is nice to visit..?

  10. Blades in the Dark is a tabletop RPG about thieves and thievery, now on Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2080350433/blades-in-the-dark I cannot vouch for it, but it seems to be getting a lot of good attention based on the previews.

      Nonono! Do not embrace Chaos.

      Embrace Order.

The systematic progression that is under logical control.

The railroad that progresses beautifully from the abstract initial plan to the concrete realization of goals.

    3. demagogue

      demagogue

Embrace creative chaos, the chaos in the heart of the order, or the order in the heart of the chaos, one of those.

  12. Bones: an excellent Thief 2 city mission. Highly recommended!

I'm having a bit of an FM break at the mo. Its on my "To Play" list though. I usually get around to playing all Thief / TDM FMs eventually.

    3. STiFU

      STiFU

Haven't played a T2 FM in ages. Maybe I should get back to it... =)

    4. Sir Taffsalot

      Sir Taffsalot

The amount of Thief FMs released might not be as many as before but there have still been plenty of high quality releases over the past few years. I'd be happy to provide a list of recs.

And you know who's going to pay for The Wall? We're going to make the Evil Overlord pay for The Wall. It'll be the biggest wall, because I only build great walls. Great walls. It'll keep out everything. Nothing will get through. And the Evil Overlord will pay for it!

    4. stumpy

      stumpy

seems a bit odd...if the evil overlord has to build it wont they undermine it by putting tunnels under it. Or you could just invest in some boats and come around the ends.

  14. Breathing Corpses: another astounding T2 mission - vast, complex and imaginative. Wow!

  15. Broke down and bought Grimrock II. Off I go!

It is hard enough on Normal. Think I'll restart with a new, more optimised party.

    4. Melan

Frobber is a champ then, because I have tried Dromed on my laptop and it was awful. Well, I couldn't do much during the commute anyway since I am within 5 minutes walking distance from my work, so...

If you have Microsoft One Note installed you could maybe screenshot the .pdf pages and then drag them in to One Note and "copy text from picture"

@Obsttorte: Sure, and now there are even more people searching through archives to implicate their opponents.

Yeah, that's the thing that hits me. Some people prefer linearity, okay. But to claim Doom-style maps are somehow "too complicated" or "not fun"? That weirds me out.

    4. Melan

      Melan

...it's not like Doom is rocket science or something.

  24. Danger: Diabolik is the best movie I have seen in 2015. Pure, shameless comic book gold.
