  1. Hello Dark Mod team and community, long time listener, first time caller here... I recently ran into a problem with TDM 2.06 when I upgraded my Radeon drivers to 18.12.2. I can't remember what driver version I had before that (I don't upgrade too often) but I was able to run GLSL and soft shadows with the same hardware I have now, but the upgrade broke these shaders. Besides rolling back my drivers, I can work-around this problem by entering "r_useGLSL 0". I held off on reporting this problem because 19.1.1 was getting ready to release and I was hoping the new drivers would fix this, but sadly they have not. The way the shaders glitch out is interesting, walls are only lit by half and usually along a diagonal line or a curve that doesn't match the light that should be cast by the source and meshes are sometimes cut into quarters or lit in . Sometimes things aren't lit at all despite being directly in view of a light source, and look like their normals have been flipped inside-out or something. Normal maps and speculars are also not working. Besides being ugly, you can't always see where pools of light are being cast until you step into them and your light gem tells you you're visible, which inhibits gameplay. In every other respect, the game seems normal, but broken lighting in a Thief game is a problem, so I'm playing 2.06 in "2.05 mode" for the moment. Here are some examples: - from "Sir Talbot's Collateral" with GLSL on (broken) and same scene with GLSL off (old lighting working correctly) - "Heart of Lone Salvation", GLSL on and GLSL off (please pardon the missing book on the table) I'm using an AMD Radeon R9 390 Series, 8 gb of GDDR5 VRAM Intel Core i7 2600K at 3.4 GHz Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit 16 GB of DDR3 physical memory On the Dark Mod wiki there's mention of creating a game profile with Surface Format Optimization turned off, but that did not alleviate the problem. Have you guys seen this before? I think the developer Stgatilov had a similar graphical problem and reported it here: http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/19752-tdm-205-weird-graphics-on-nvidia/ But his problem was on 2.05 and with Nvidia hardware, not AMD/ATI.
  2. I'm finding the right mouse button to be very unpredictable at the moment. Sometimes nothing frobs, sometimes I have to hold to open doors, etc. However, there is one symptom which is very clear: lock picking doesn't work at all, instead I have to hold down Enter. I *think* this is new since updating to 2.07 (and the hot patch for lighting issues). Has anyone else seen anything like this?

Hi guys, through the "cheats" topic I got the idea, that it would be quite useful, if there were tags for missions (the post was about removing the killing restriction in some missions to suit the prefered play style). I don't know how easy or difficult this is, but with them, it would be quite convenient to pick missions with playstyles, environment, etc one does want to use. This could also be expanded to other mission properties. I remember a discussion about climbable drains, handles on doors, that cannot be picked and other things the map author chooses for himself. That way these things would be clearer and as I said before, it is easier to choose missions with playstyles that suit oneself. What do think?

  5. Hello! I've been having a host of weird AA/ graphics problems with 2.06. Ill post them here and create bug reports when necessary (sorry if these are redundant in other threads) Windows 10. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980. (Latest drivers) TDM 2.06 (Both 32 and 64 bit) Problem 1- AA forces fullscreen - While in windowed mode + (advanced render features off / SS/ Post/ect) - If I click AA on, it forces fullscreen mode even after restart. I have to disable AA and then restart to get back into window mode. Problem 2- AA and my skyboxes -While AA is turned on + (forced fullscreen, advanced render features off). My skyboxes get this weird windowed effect in them. If I turn bloom on, the effect is very noticeable and creates a huge FPS drop. Some screenshots: Cauldron: With Bloom: Volta and the Stone: with bloom: I did try removing the fog light I use in the skybox, but the problem persisted. Problem 3- Water shader - All advanced features off including AA. I get these very weird black lines on my water shader. Material file: volta_water_material.txt I want to make sure these are legit mod bugs before filing reports, so please let me know if you have the same problems or if these are already filed and being tracked.       Did the TDM team removed D3's internal Joypad feature? (tdm works only with systemkey binders for joysicks)

  7. Hi! I'm a Thief-fan since almost 20 years now (times flies!) and have finally decided to treat myself this seemingly excellent game that is the Dark Mod. I've installed TDM on my mac using PlayOnMac, following the procedure outlined in the thorough step-by-step-guide found here: http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Installer_and_Manual_Installation#Installing_TDM_on_Linux.2FMac_OS.2C_using_PlayonMac.2FPlayonLinux Still, when I try to launch TDM I get an error message saying TheDarkMod crashed. Any ideas on how to move forward from here? (I have btw not forgotten to install "mvsc100"). Thanks in advance, I am really looking forward to exploring the game!
  8. Hello everyone. So I bought myself a new trackball mouse, the Elecom Huge M-HT1URBK. So far I am pretty happy with it, but I've run into an issue using the mouse software that comes with it. Although the installer has selected english as standard installation language (and I have kept it like that) and the whole install process is performed in english, the software is using japanese language instead. The program itself does not allow a change of language. I've already contacted their support and although they are eager to help me, they are of no big help thus far, so I thought I may ask here. Some information: I am using Windows 7 Professional 64bit, german version. I've already tried setting the language for non-unicode programs to english. Installing additional language packs is not possible under Professional, at least not in an easy way, and I don't want to change my system language just to use a mouse program. I've also searched the regestry (searchword "elecom") and found one entry 'language', but that was set to english. Maybe one of you folks have an idea what might cause the issue and how to probably solve it. Thanks in advance.
  9. Thought I might as well post up the results of my latest attempt to download a mission, "Crucible of Omens: Behind closed doors". I ran up tdm, went straight to the in-game downloader, selected CoO:Bcd for download, and left it running ... came back to find the game crashed. Here's the console transcript: I'm guessing all the messages from therats are from the previously loaded game, The Rats Triumphant (excellent mission, BTW). The download seems to have been aborted (I did see it at 70% at one point when I looked in to see how the download was getting on) because there's no sign of it in my fms directory. I'll delete the currentfm.txt file and try again... and it worked! Well, that's interesting. Maybe the moral is to unload the previous missing before trying to download missions? Dunno, mission download has been pretty flakey for me in the past.

I have version 2.0 and It keeps trying to download TDM_update_2.00_to_2.01.zip, then restarting the download again once it finishes (29.3mb over and over again with a average download speed of 200kbps, there is no zip file in the darkmod folder apart from with with 2 underscores before its name and 0 bytes big). I've waited patiently but every download mirror it tries downloading from does the same thing, downloading keeps restarting but gives no zip file and just starts restarts the download for the next mirror in a continuous loop. Its already bad enough that I need the whole Darkmod installation folder with me to the internet cafe just to download a measly patch, but this is bizarre. I tried copypasting the download link from the logfile into the browser, which worked but honestly that took longer than it needed for me to figure out the updater isn't doing its job. But then.. ugh again an issue. I extracted the patch from the zip, 2.00 to 2.01, overwriting.. but now its saying my version is "no exact match" and trying to download the zip again :/ I put the zip file in the darkmod folder so I would think that the updater would notice that the update package zip is already there and shouldn't be downloaded, no luck still tries to download it regardless. This is ridiculous, doesn't matter what way I do it, it still won't allow me to get the next 2 updates. I tried downloading the updater manually from the website: http://www.thedarkmod.com/download-the-mod/ Same issue. My system is XP SP3, same as I've always had for TDM.

  13. Has anyone experienced the situation where you are playing the game and then you tap "T" for lockpick and you get nothing? What about loading a mission and then when you go to turn left or right with the mouse the view does not change? Does anyone have any troubleshooting tips of advice for me? Is there a way to reset all controls to "factory"?

      I installed it on a Venue 8 pro, and I hate it. NONE of my complaints about Windows 8.1 were addressed and now there are bugs like a black screen after waking from sleep. My biggest complaint is the lack of pinch-to-zoom anywhere other than the web browser. At least with auto updates, the display bug will hopefully fix itself, right?

      I upgraded using an ISO that I stuck on a SD card. There were no issues doing the actual upgrade. I would imagine you can upgrade from the ISO on Windows 7 too.

      I also downloaded the ISO format, will wait with the upgrade for a year, when most of the ugliest bugs will be squished out.

  16. Hello guys, I know this is not the TDM engine but is based on idtech 4 has well so i hope you guys can help me. I'm trying to create a new class of object in a separate file, for that i created a new .header file and a new .cpp file for my class, i then tried to copy what idSoftware has done for their own classes but no matter what i do, visual studio never compiles and gives me a bunch of errors but what really confuses me is that the errors point to the original engine code no my own code!? Is if my files are breaking the id code not mine. This is what i'm doing: header class myclass : public idclass{ public: CLASS_PROTOTYPE( myclass); myclass(){Init()}; // constructor ~myclass(){Init()}; // destrutor members vars methods / functions } ///************* cpp file #include "../idlib/precompiled.h" #pragma hdrstop #include "Game_local.h" // myclass header is called from inside here CLASS_DECLARATION( idclass, myclass) END_CLASS void myclass::Init(){} etc. I did the same thing using structs instead (afaik they are just like classes) but directly from inside the player.h and player.cpp file and that worked fine, but now i wanted to make it a separate class and i'm having a bunch of problems, i most say that i'm a beginner c++ and OOP so i most be forgetting something basic, or i'm forgetting to declare my class in some other id file, any help would be appreciated.
  17. Sometimes after I DL a mission from the ingame downloader, they wont dissapear from the list. The missions in question are a score to settle, alberics curse and the gatehouse, any idea why this happens? Also, I'm not able to DL special delivery, when I do I get a warning about not enough disk space and copy protected files. *** EDIT I DL'ed all missions, except for special delivery. The problem still remains, is there an alternate location I can get this mission? Anyone else having problems DL'ing it?

      I've found it difficult to find where TDM is listed as #1 on Greenlight. This page ( https://steamcommunity.com/greenlight/ ) has no ranked listing. This one ( https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=858048394 ) has no visible rank or stats page. Is it my script blocker?
