  1. I've extracted tdm_installer.exe v1.10 into my existing Dark Mod folder. I try to run it with Get custom version and Advanced settings both unchecked. I get a Downloading finished message, then it says its analysing certain missions but very quickly after that I get ERROR: Minizip error -3 and it won't proceed. What gives please? The installer log indicates the error occurs while Analysing "tdm_ai_humanoid_beasts01.pk4"...
  2. As the title says! I am just curious. The answer doesn't necessarily have to be your all-time favorite game, because I would argue that some games even get better after the first playthrough. Obviously, all answers without major spoilers, please. So for me, it would be the Outer Wilds and the Splinter Cell Series. Outer Wilds, because it is an unbelievable intense experience to explore the physically simulated cold outer space and unravel the secret about that innovative 22-minute supernova timeloop that leads to some very interesting gameplay ideas. Sadly, it will never be the same as in the first playthrough, so this ist definitely my 1st place in this category. I learned about this game on this very forum and after Marc Brown (Game Maker's Toolkit) explained in one of his videos how this game works, I just tried it eventhough I thought that these types of games were not my cup of tea. And I say the Splinter Cell series, because there is just nothing like it and I am hungry for techy espionage stealth thrillers.

What a lovely game, perfect way to relax before sleep.

Oh nice, I just downloaded the demo on our Switch two days ago, when I felt sick and wanted to play something relaxing, but I was too tired. 😄 Definitely gonna give it a shot 'though.

  4. Woo!! 2.10 Beta "Release Candidate" ( 210-07 ) is out:

    https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/21198-beta-testing-210/

It wont be long now :) ...

  5. I don't think there's a link to thedarkmod.com on forums.thedarkmod.com ...

Yeah and the wiki and moddb. It should have those links in the footer I think. Probably easy to add by an admin.

Edit: And a link to the bugtracker. I'm always searching for a post in the forum that links to that because I can't remember the url.

I drew attention to this several times in the last few years. No one payed it any attention, so I just gave up.

Reluctance to improve the forums is matched by reluctance to allow more people to work on it. Talk about trust and power.

  6. Deathloop – what a mess of a game. I'd love to see a post-mortem on it some day. I hope Arkane is doing okay though.

Thanks to this thread I am currently playing Deathloop. Have to say I am enjoying it very much, but I can see where it turns people off. The bad first: Yes it's repetitive and enemies respawn, annoying to have to encounter/kill the same baddies over and over. It is a time loop game, so that part is to be expected. Perhaps the back and forth between times of day and revisiting areas once you find info or codes in other areas can be too much backtracking for some. The good: It feels just like Dishonored with a No One Lives Forever candy and bubble gum pop vibe. That's a definite plus. Mooncrash will be next to play for a real comparison.

So, how do we turn this status discussion into a fully fledged thread now? 😄 @Dragofer is this possible? 🙂

Unfortunately I can only hide or delete this status update. Would be cool if new threads with new posts could be created.

  7. Be honest: Who of you have actually finished Cuphead? This game is freaking tough! It might even be harder than Sekiro. Dark Souls is a joke in comparison to Cuphead! :-D

Cuphead is one of the toughest games you can play. The bossfights are absolute insanity. I did finish it, but not without cheating. It was a beautiful game and worth a play tho, if only to put cocky bragging gamers in their place.

Ok, I couldn't wait until saturday! 😄 @AluminumHaste the final boss was pretty bullet-helly though. 😕 Still, you might get into it. I hate bullet-hell games normally as well.

  8. Please, can we finally group the missions by year in the game menu?

You'd need to have that metadata present somewhere in the downloaded files or the mission database backend. Right now I don't think enough of that info is there, except maybe by guessing the date due to the age of the files in each missions's .pk4.

Odds are if you want such info, best to use outside sources until/unless the in-game mission downloade is extended to somehow access the info in these links:

I like the idea of having a way to choose the sort order. Wouldn't mind sort-by-author too.

As to the data, this looks like one of these cases where you could spend a week programming it for auto updates, or a couple of hours of manual entry. Probably only a dozen data points change per year thereafter.

  9. I keep on getting the same error message whenever I try to install this mod. ERROR: Hash of "http//darkmod-alt02.taaaki.za.net/release/zipsync/release/release200/tdm_gui01.pk4||dds/guis/assets/hud/inventory_icons/loot_icon_amulet_round.dds" after download is 90311f2b5c1fa6dbeccb747ebdef95ea9c3777ac25ea05997efc6495b5455d instead of f65e9dc77f34fdd8773c32925e19117ab0eac9461f07824fb0bc7c0170ce02de It then gives me the option to close the download which just puts me back to the beginning of the download / install process. Am running Windows 10 Home I am pretty much tech illiterate, so if anyone could advise me in the simplest, most dumb-downed form of what I'm doing wrong, or how to fix this, I would exceptionally grateful
  10. Hello everyone! I'm brand new to Dark Mod and I'm really excited to play! However during install I get an error the reads: ERROR: Failed to open zip file "C:/Users -- _download0_tdm_sound_ambient03.pk4" If anyone has any ideas or knows if there's anything I can do I would highly appreciate it! Thank you so much!!
  11. So I tried to download ALL the missions available in the downloader, thinking this way I'll easily see any new missions that show up. Turns out you you can't completely empty the missions downloader. There always remains a dozen or so missions you can't remove. They are downloaded, but remain in the Mission List in the Download menu. This is a pain cause the whole reason to download everything is to easily find new missions. Can this be fixed please?
  12. ig7icd64.dll error TDM is loading, mission loading but just before game starts it gives error message and closes. I installed TDM 209a. My OS Win 8.1 X64. It says fault module is ig7icd64.dll and it shows that dll has different timestamp from app timestamp. Any ideas how I can correct this?
  13. Soooo, I just got the platin trophy in Sifu... xD Incredibley addicting game!

  14. Hey there, I've been playing this game casually for some years, and I wondered if there were any plans, now or in the past, to put it on Steam ? I'm pretty sure it would get a pretty decent amount of players, knowing how amazing the game is, especially for a free game. I wouldn't pay personally for the price of the steam sdk, but I could participate in paying it and I'm pretty sure there are people in here that would like to have it on Steam and maybe contribute to paying the sdk if you can't afford it Sorry if this has been brought up multiple times, I didn't see it looking through the forum, and I'm pretty new to it.
  15. Hey all, Being a fan of stealth games and specifically the Thief series, I wanted to share with you a little indie title I've been working on for some time. If you're interested, there's a demo out now that you can try. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1417880/Winter_Ember/
  16. Jumping back in after several years away. Very excited to see the new maps! I found however that on startup, the game window is very small and I can't seem to expand it. Using Ubuntu 18.04. Not sure what version of TDM I have, but I downloaded it yesterday so it's whatever is current now.
  17. An error has occurred in this program. I tried to download the stable version 2.07, but I couldn't (screenshot below). Аnd I'm now sure that if players download the latest version 2.09b, it may be missing some files due to a bug. Can the developers check this program and fix it? It would be very convenient, if all versions were uploaded to some cloud and players could download any version without this program.
  18. Hello! At first, sorry for my bad english. I’ve got a few month brake from the game, and after i want to go back in to it and play FM there is some kind of bug.. Okay, my problem is when I start the game, in the main menu cursor is still moving in to the left. In option/new game or in load saved games is the same problem. In the game player is moving in to the left side.. I dont know what is going on, i try changing every option and FM and even download full game again. Is 2.09 version; playing on Win10 64bit Did someone have the same issue? Thanks,
  19. Maybe the game should be available on that stores because all the new users can download a get ready to play the game, also i think that this game will be at the top of the list of the games because its quality.
  20. Here is the code for computing angle: /// Return the angle between <self> and <other> T angle(const BasicVector3<T>& other) const { // Get dot product of normalised vectors, ensuring it lies between -1 // and 1. T dot = std::clamp( getNormalised().dot(other.getNormalised()), -1.0, 1.0 ); // Angle is the arccos of the dot product return acos(dot); } This approach gives high error for small angles (i.e. when cosine is close to 1.0 or -1.0). If machine epsilon is eps, then error can be as high as O(sqrt(eps)). For floats, it would be about 3e-4, and for doubles, it would be about 1e-8. It can be good idea to use asin/acos to compute angle only if you prefer speed over precision. In order to achieve O(eps) precision for all angles, use atan2: return fabs(atan2(a.cross(b).length(), a.dot(b))); This approach also works perfectly well for computing signed angle in plane --- just remove fabs and replace .length() with dot product over plane normal (direction matters).
  21. hi I keep getting this error when trying to install TDM, any ideas? I'm using windows 8 x64 cheers
  22. I'm trying to build a debug trunk build (which I've been able to do in the past). I'm doing a "cmake -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE="Debug" ..", then "make" in a subdirectory called build, but make bails at the linking of the binary: [100%] Linking CXX executable thedarkmod.x64 /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lstdc++ collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status make[2]: *** [CMakeFiles/TheDarkMod.dir/build.make:8080: thedarkmod.x64] Error 1 make[1]: *** [CMakeFiles/Makefile2:96: CMakeFiles/TheDarkMod.dir/all] Error 2 make: *** [Makefile:104: all] Error 2 The libstdc++.so is installed and exists /lib/gcc/x86_64-redhat-linux/10/libstdc++.so. I'm not really familiar with cmake, so I'm not sure the proper way to get things linked up... any ideas? (Now that I think about it, I think the last time I built darkmod (last year) was applying a scons patch, which I rather just get the correct way to build darkmod working...)
  23. William Steele 1: In the North, Build 2.10 Can't frob a particular AI's loot, not sure if this is a known issue on map or engine error. Better safe than sorry.
