  1. Since due to the nature of this forum, file/image sharing is used quite frequently, I thought to present some alternatives to the widely used Gdrive, which I don't like so much, especially since the last TOS change. File Sharing To share large files there are several options that also do not require registration. The first is File Hosting Online, which supports files up to 25 Gb, encrypted and also includes a Virus Scan that ensures safe use Another good option is Gofile, free to use, privacy focused and unlimited Bandwith. No refistry needed. While the files are accesed or downloaded at least one time a week, they are never deleted, otherwise inactive files are deleted after 10 days. If you prefer to use P2P, that means to share files directly from PC to other, without a hoster in the middle, there are also very good options, which permits to share files and folders without limites of type and size. The most easy to use is O&O File Direct, a small Desktop app (sadly only Windows), very easy to use 1 Open the app and drag the files/folders you like to share in its window 2 Optional adjust the days and amount of permited downloads and if you want a password 3 Share the link which apears in the app Done The only limits are, that the receptor only can download your files, when your PC is online, on the other hand this permits that you can stop the download in any moment, going offline or shutting down the PC. The other limit is, that the files to share can't be in a protected folder. Her are an Example with a list of Search Enines (Html file 423,56 Kb). While I am online, you can download it https://file.direct/f/pmjVFnjfkjFTKTt5 Videos One of the best options is Streamable (need a free account, inactive videos are deleted after 90 days in the free version) Alternatively you can use Streamja, a simple Video sharer with good privacy, free account optional (nick, mail) Images Ok, there are a lot of Image sharer, most used the known Imgur, because of this I add only one which offers some advantages over Imgur. ImgBox (free account) is a reliable platform to share and host images like Imgur, but it make it very easy to upload and post dozend of images simultaneous, selecting all the images you want and drag them on the window, offering coresponding bulk codes from the selected images to post them with one click for forums (BBcode), Html and others, fullsize or thumbnails. More since Imgur used since some time the hated webm formats for gif images, hardly accepted in most forums.

  3. Thought this might interest some of you here - there's a PnP RPG on Kickstarter right now called Project Dark that's supposedly able to closely emulate stealth games. Other things of note: - Card-based mechanics in combination with dice - Optimised for 1-2 player-characters Also based on a brief exchange, it seems the developer's a fan of PC stealth games like Thief. Project looks pretty cool overall, and although I haven't played any games that use cards for conflict resolution, the pitch has me intrigued, if only because running a game set in the Thief world sounds awesome. Too bad existing backers won't get a copy of the rules until March Edit - oh yeah, link here:
  4. SS3 remake kinda got shafted the SS1 remake should still be in the game SS1 also uses the unreal engine and not unity. SS1 also accepted kickstarter fundings where as SS3 largely ditched it. https://www.systemshock.com/
  5. Did a great find today: Quake 4 mods for dummies. Now online readable. http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/5576-book-quake-4-mods-for-dummies/?p=412644

He changed ita long while back, it was so he was using the same name as he uses on other forums.

  6. There's a new oldschool RPG project on Kickstarter. It's made by a german RPG veteran, Guido Henkel, known for Realms of Arkania and propably not as famous outside of germany. If you've never heard of these old games, Legends of Grimrock is a good reference point. Here are the key features according to the kicksterter page: Single player, first person Party-based play (four player-, plus two non-player characters) Six races and eight classes to choose from Over 34 unique character traits, plus base attributes Party characters interact with each other Turn-based combat Indoor and outdoor environments Complex puzzles and evolving quests Combine items to build weapons and traps Interactive game world Recipe-based crafting and enchanting Involving, adaptive storyline with many key players and twists Factions for intriguing political set-ups Tons of monsters to battle Dialogues—yes, you will be in awe at our cool and intelligent dialogue system Cheese toast I backed it. Is anyone here interested in this kind of game?
  7. It's pretty great actually, I'm really enjoying it. I think what really helps is that I've never played System Shock 1. I started with the Thief series and tried SS2 and hated it. Then tried it again 5 or 6 years later and absolutely loved it. I've obviously heard about SS1 and how clunky it was etc, so never bothered playing it. I've watched some lets plays of it etc. I am a kickstarter for the remake, so looking forward to the final release.

Sotha: Russian was a poor example. I meant that even tho the language might reflect badly on the writer, it's the message that counts. Of course, I rather prefer a professional, well-thought out and presented opinion, too, but sometimes cutting through the bullshit is easier when you can just every f-word instead of reverse translating stuff like "utelizing synergy-driven brand effects" :D

Sure, but an intelligent writer should be aware that their important message may be completely ignored due to inability to write properly. Their important message will sink into the bottomless depths of empty-minded drivel that is the blogosphere. In the modern era information flood, the reader must carefully evaluate the data on multiple criterion before accepting it.

Absolutely true. There was a very insightful article around Julian Assange's alledged rape and the situation in Sweden, where things seem to have gotten out of control regarding what is defined as rape. However, the article was so hateful and biased that even if all stated fact were true, I could not ever use it as a reference.

  10. Hi guys, everyone who loved the Homeworld games as well as "Nexus: The Jupiter Incident", will love to hear that a Kickstarter campaign was started today for Nexus 2: The Gods Awaken. You will find a video with a presentation of the capaign here. Anyone who has no idea what kind of game Nexus: The Jupiter Incident really was, please have a look at the trailer here. Also, there are several Let's Play's on YouTube. Here is , and one without, focusing completely on gameplay. Nexus 1 still looks breathtakingly beautiful, and I can only recommend it to anyone who is even remotely into space RTS. It is available on GOG.com for 10 US-Dollars, DRM-free of course. Together with the Kickstarter presentation, it clearly shows what to expect from its successor. I hope you guys will like the project and pledge much.
  11. A couple of days ago Larian Studios launched a kickstarter for their new game "Divinity: Original Sin". It's an rpg that (among other things): - is party based (with optional multiplayer) - has turn based combat - is played from a top down perspective - focuses on an interactive game world - comes with an editor I have only played one of their older games: "Divine Divinity". It was a very good rpg with a big open world, a lot of quests and different playstyles that unfortunately became hack and slash towards the end because the developer ran out of money and time. The new one is already far in development and looks very promising but they need additional funding to polish it up.

I've found it difficult to find where TDM is listed as #1 on Greenlight. This page ( https://steamcommunity.com/greenlight/ ) has no ranked listing. This one ( https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=858048394 ) has no visible rank or stats page. Is it my script blocker?

  12. Maybe you can do something with the animated grass demo: Topic https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/12985-animated-grass-test-map/ Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRCzWOeYxd0
  13. Grim Dawn is from the same guy who worked on Titan Quest, it's also made with that engine, but with improved graphics. Originally via kickstarter. I've played original GD for many hours. If you like Diablo 2 and Torchlight 2 more than Diablo 3, then you might like GD as well. What is especially cool is that you have dual classes. So you start of with one class and later combine that with another. With the mod you can for example combine a necromancer with a paladin build.
  14. Is there a limit to kickstarter threads? LA Game Space Anyway, this project sounds weird and... weird. I think it's worth watching at least Pen Ward's message about the project (the creator of Adventure Time!), I'm a huge fan of his and the video is funny and cute: http://youtu.be/ypc0RA3w6RM
  15. Hey, Every time I've try to use the Full Editor when PM'ing someone, and every single time I get an error. Whoever is in charge of the forum, is it possible that this could be fixed? Thanks Neon
  16. So giving it none of those tags, but making the AI invisible, silent, non-solid, and on a team neutral to everyone would not work? Oh well, it was a horrible inelegant idea anyway.
