  1. Hi, I need to know what the code is to use Spoiler Tags. I am using my tablet and I don't have the options to use anything, like spoiler tags, quote tags, text changes etc. Thanks
  2. Hi, I played The Accountant 1: Thieves and Heirs recently, and I really enjoyed the rainy atmosphere. It's very well done and I found myself starting at the window in the middle of the mission many times, just enjoying the rain. If you love rain like I do, do yourself a favor and play this mission! So, now, to my question: what are other missions where it rains throughout the entire mission? I tried a search but came up with nothing. Thanks
  3. Mission Name: The Ravine Author: Spoonman Build time: 8 months. Version: 1.00 Released: 17/04/2017 Type: Underground Size: Large Completion time: 1-2 hours. Difficulty settings: Higher difficulties require you to find more loot. Known issues: This mission was not beta-tested. Some areas of the mission can get noticeable drops in framerate. Special thanks to: Grayman for his minecart and tracks models from "Somewhere Above the City" Gigagooga for his custom ambient sounds (thanks to Melan for recommending them to me) Download links: http://www.mediafire.com/file/o58h61j5zgz9n1e/ravine.pk4
  4. Greetings all, I've been playing The Dark Mod sporadicaly over the last years, enjoying my experience with the game and the awesome missions done by people. Now, i'm trying to get my hands on a particular mission i played 2 years ago i think. The problem is that i don't remember the title, nor the author (shame on me). Also, my computer crashed, so i had to download TDM from fresh, erasing the missions i had already played. So i'm unable to see which one i've already played when i start the game. If someone can help me retrieve this mission, i'd be very gratefull ! It's not much, but i remember having a good time with it, and i'de like to revive that. Here is what i remember : - this is a multi mission type. The first one is a classic city rob. The second, mainly outside is more an atmospheric one. - the first one, you navigate between several buildings. At one point, i remember struggling with an enigma to find a code. The enigma was based on a painting which displayed an execution. To find the code, it was necessary to find how many people were attending the execution, how many people died, etc. - Still in the first mission, you'd also enter a merchant suite, only to find his corpse on a bed. If you were to steal something from his room, a sort of lich would appear in the living room (that was creepy). - At the end of this mission, you had to flee in the sewers, pursued by something emitting a red glowing light. In the end, you are introduced to some sort of higher spirit. - The second mission was very different, much more of an atmospheric one. You had to navigate in a forgotten city, trying to understand what caused the death of everyone here and escaping the red glowing thing from the first episode. I'm sorry if it's just a bunch of unrelated clues but memories are like that. I tried looking several TDM missions, replaying also some of the great titles but i cannot find this one. Anyone has an idea ? Thanks in advance and happy new year to anyone brave enough to read all of this.
  5. Hello, I just installed TDM and have never played it. I read on the website that we are encouraged to play the training mission and the two other missions that are supposed to come pre-installed with the download. I select new mission and it says i have no missions installed. I go to Load/Save missions and there are non in that list either. I selected the download missions from server option and the training mission is not in that list either. There are many packages/folders downloaded in my TDM folder. Is there a place to look quickly for the training mission?
  6. So it's finally time! Not An Ordinary Guest hits the forums like a heavy bag of coins! This is, as the topic states, my entry to the Unusually Gameplay contest. It is a fine example of a mission that has been built with only vague plans in mind. I thought it would be cool with a hotel mission and so I started building a room and a corridor and a boxy lobby. This was back in january 2010, the first serious map I started and since then I've probably run into every crevice in the road in my attempts to become a master mapper. Always start small, that's the lesson the gurus are trying to teach us. Baah, humbug! I rather went for something I thought would be fun to play. And after all, it wasn't meant to be a quick build, but rather something I could planlessly just add things onto as I went. And so more and more work went into it but I got carried away from it because of the other contests so this mission is something I've been building on from time to time over three years and because the overall plans were very vague until about one and a half years ago, several things have been changed over the years. I hope you'll enjoy the resulting mision! The unusual element in this mission is that each difficulty setting corresponds to a different character with different agendas; Will you play as the assassin, sneaking into the hotel, figuring out where your target is and eliminate it? Or will you be the unseen thief, skulking in the shadows, looting the wealthy from their heavy purses? Or why not the saboteur, wandering the hotel like an ordinary guest, but is he? Why is the water in the bath cold? Why is the food tasting like shit? It is something peculiar about that fellow in that room... Another thing I would like to mention is the effort I've made to increase replayability. There is no guarantee that the guests will reside in the same rooms from play to play, and the same goes for where the loot may be. And as the different characters have different agendas, so will some items be frobable for some and unfrobable for others. Special thanks to Ziggun, my friend who has helped me with lots of visual design desicions. Henrik Swenson, who has made at least one of the ambient sounds. BikerDude stepped in during the betatesting for some lighting help, much appreciated! And Grayman helped me with some scripting, I'm very grateful for that! I would also like to thank the betatesters with lots of good advice and keen eyes for Z-fighting and other unwanted errors: Bikerdude, AluminiumHaste, nbohr1more, lowenz, jaxa, Obsttorte and TylerVocal. I must adress some issues with the map. As I said, some parts of this mission was built when I was rather new at this and visportalling became a second issue, especially in the front section which is a rather open area. Lower end systems will have problems there. My efforts to increase the replayability was not without a cost. I'm very close to the entity maximun with only a few hundred entitys left to prohibit the mission from starting. I don't know if this will cause any trouble, performance vise, though. Planned fixes/additions for ver 1.01 Good hunting/looting/sabotaging! If you are outta of time or need a small appetizer or dessert, try Coercion or The Bakery Job. Short, straightforward, fun.

What about Ravine by Spoonman? Isn't it a short and easy mission?

Yes it was in a discussion where someone was saying how unhappy they are with the way game companies grant themselves permission to do whatever they like to your PC and personal info today. I pointed out that giving up games completely is an unnecessarily overkill solution when there are free games like TDM to play.

Honestly the mod/Indie genre is still really booming right now. And they aint got no reason to do shady invasive privacy bs.

  9. I got an empty list for downloading missions from thedarkmod currently, telling me I may download nevertheless. Possible I could download from the game itself but couldn't sort the missions list by date, e.g. Some days ago I was still able to download from the wiki list, but somehow this also doesn't work any longer - just gets me to the mentioned above empty missions list now. Am I blind or dumb ? Why has it to be that difficult and uncomfortable ? Does Darkmod has a deathwish somehow ?
  10. Having enjoyed giving voice to six or so DM missions, I want to branch out...can anyone tell me if there are other games using fan missions where I might apply my voice? I want to move into doing voice work professionally one day, but for now am thrilled to use my talents as donated work for the Dark Mod and others. Visit my website for samples of my work on my demo page, and for a short reel of DM voices I have done, and please...if you have contacts with Skyrim or other modders, contact me. www.everybodyandme.com
  11. It's time to release my entry for the Halloween contest; A Night To Remember This one took me about one and a half month to complete. It would not be possible without the eminent assistance of Ziggun and my girlfriend. Thanks a lot! A thanks goes to Kimdawg for creating the pianomusic. Thanks to my betatesters - Bikerdude, Xarg and PranQster Also a big thank you to all the folks that keeps the mod alive and evolving! Enjoy! Diary entry, 20th of October, 1721 Say one thing about Sir Henry Doyle, say he's a taffing idiot. Yes, I admit that. Only a taffing idiot would try to rob Lord taffing Cromwell, much less do it while being his honoured guest. I came out here to enjoy the quiet countryside and to study under the great inventor so that I could forget about all the troubles back in Bridgeport. But I suppose they didn't forget about me, nor did the Lady Terevaine. She must've found out I was staying at Cromwell's estate somehow, seeing as she had a letter delivered to me right in the middle of supper. Could barely keep a straight face as I read it. The nerve of that woman... Thankfully, my fellow guest at the mansion, Father Tellam, had another heated argument with Cromwell about the whole Gottfried II project. Called it a great sin against the Builder and all that. Ironic, considering what Lady Terevaine wrote to me, but it did give me the perfect excuse to retire for the night. Still, it seems I have yet another job to do for this little shrew. And like always, she promises that this one will be the last of them before she finally helps me with my debts. For the life of me, I will never understand what she gets out of these oddjobs, but I suspect it might just be some form of deranged joy at seeing me stumble around robbing everyone I know. And this time, she wants me to steal Lord Cromwell's very passion, the blueprints for his beloved airship. That in itself will not be a hard task, given that Cromwell doesn't allow any guards indoors. From what he has told me, I suspect the blueprints to be in his study on the second floor of the east wing. I'll need to be careful, however. Cromwell is a dangerous man and should my hand in this be known, he will make my money problems seem like a pleasant afternoon stroll. I'll need to mask this theft as a robbery, so I should try and steal as much as I can, perhaps smash a window or two along the way. With any luck, I'll find enough goods to actually pay my debts and get free of that taffing Lady Terevaine..." This is a mission with certain enemies that are extremely dangerous. There are a few known issues on them but I will give you a chance to play the mission before spoiling the nature of the enemies. Changes in ver 1.1 __________________________________________________________________________ Do not read past this line as spoilers may be present in the thread!
  12. I think the idea has its merits, as long as it was actual Thief fans making it.
  13. The missions page is empty, but tell me, why? I just downloaded the game, but I cannot play it because there are no missions :((
  14. We have a Frequently Asked Questions article on our wiki, addressing a lot of common problems: http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=FAQ
  15. Whenever I click on any of the links for the missions on tdm webpage, there aren't any links provided for downloading.
  16. You thought AG was dead? Think again! Here's a playthrough of this mission on Hard difficulty: If you like this video, please share it around. We need to attract as much attention to the game's level editor as possible.
  17. The mission server seems to be down, the game cannot connect to it.
  18. Hello, everyone! I've done some searches in the forums, and looked in the troubleshooting on the wiki, but there's a problem that's been in Dark Mod for the past version or two that's now prevalent enough for me to log in and report. Not sure if it's an issue with the Dark Mod itself or just one model of light that someone developed and is using in more and more missions, but it's driving me nuts. In several missions, electric lights are used and the tone the game has them emanate...well, I'm supposing it's supposed to be a soft hum, but instead it's a piercingly loud sine wave kind of tone, like you'd hear if you were taking a hearing aid test. It's literally deafening compared to the sounds in the rest of the game, and as more and more levels use this light, it's really cutting down on the levels I want to play. Since no other users seem to be reporting this, I'm wondering if it's because of my particular audio configuration. I am using EAX (through Creative ALchemy) on Windows 10 on a current Sound Blaster card, so I'm wondering if somehow the EAX processing is making the sound so damn loud. The latest mission that seems to have this sound is "In The Black." I'm including a screenshot of one of the lamps in question. This one is in kind of an odd spot on an internal balcony railing, and I can hear it buzzing from well down the hall in another room. There are other rooms that have several of these lamps as well. Is there any kind of tweaking I can do in the .pk4 files to silence this model of lamp until the issue is resolved? I really want to be able to play these missions without being deafened. I'm up for any kind of troubleshooting, or if you'd like me to make a recording from a USB mic of how loud the tone is compared to other sounds in the game to hear exactly what I'm experiencing.
  19. I have fond memories of Raven Software's old FPS shooters, Heretic and Hexen... especially the latter. Something about that "dark gothic" element, really worked for me. The atmosphere of Hexen was amazing. I never got around to playing "Hexen 2", though. Is it still worth playing? Are there any mods or "fan fixes" etc? Chime in, folks.. I'll even take suggestions for similar games, or games on the horizon...

  21. The Rats Triumphant (Halloween Contest 2015 Mission) Download links: MEGA (11 MB) ...and the mission downloader Design notes: The idea for this mission came from an old house in a side street where I go to my daily work. It had been dilapidated as long as I can remember, first as a home for beggars and some fairly disreputable people, then condemned and its windows bricked up, and now finally in the process of being demolished. As I went to my work and back, I could watch it disappear day by day, exposing its layers of construction until finally only one wall remained. But for all its ruined state and inhabitants, it had a simple elegance, and I decided to preserve it in the form of a fan mission. (more on building the mission later) Special thanks: to Bikerdude for multiple performance-related and aesthetic fixes. My playtersters, Bikerdude (again), nbohr1more and Premier.
  22. As the title says, what are your personal underrated Dark Mod (and Thief fan missions in general if you want) missions? Missions that are good/great/fun that never got a lot of attention or have otherwise faded away, in essence. Personally, I'll give a nod to Briarwood Cathedral by buck28. Not the best mission, and some of your goals can be obtuse, but it somehow hit this vein of pure *fun* that I can't articulate well. The same with his first mission, Lockton Manor. I'll also give a nod to Lords and Legacy by Kvorning. A fun, complex city/mansion mission that the author dropped on us all and then vanished without a trace. It's very fun and I'm tempted to give it another go one of these days, and it's a shame that I don't see it mentioned more often.
