You can also drop some of the keys, some door that are frobbabe mean there is another way inside - explore u taffer! # Due to TDM being a lot more of a resource hog than T2 I have been forced to limit the number of Ai in the mission, but they have better placement than my last mission. # On all difficulty levels the player starts with vertualy no tools/weapons, there are weapons to be found - read, read, read! # For the love of all that is holy, read the briefing otherwise you will problems completing the mission. Known issues:- # This mission will have less than optimal fps at a few points on the map, mid range DX9 card(X1900/GF7800) or higher required. # On low end PCs I recommend, V-sync is off, AA is off, Aniso is 4x or lower and that any and all background apps are closed.

I am trying to port a Quake 4 map over to UT2k4(Unreal Tounament 2004) and I tried out Dark Radiant which turned out to be the right program for the job! The Q4 map is q4xdm10.map called Central Processing and when exported as a .obj file the texture mapping is for some reason messed up completely. I tried the export the map as a .ase file and that worked a lot better which I then saved as an .obj file but unfortunately the map is saved as individual objects and not grouped according to texture\shader used.Is that possible to have the map exported as as .ase file but instead of tons of groups the faces\surfaces are grouped and named according to the shader used with each face which not only brings the number of groups down from about 4000 to about 30\40 and I can then fix the map in milkshape 3D which I have a licence for and then export it into a format I can use as either a brush\static mesh into UnrealEd? I can then import the textures as I have already imported most of the static meshes from the map and I will import the pick-up meshes to be used as proper pick-ups with their Q4 sounds. Is is possible to do that for Dark Radiant as this is kinda urgent? Thanks.

Thanks for the heads up. Combining the two FMs into the same archive is troublesome because they will try to share assets that are different between Tales of the Riverside and Down by the Riverside and will therefore break each other. I've changed the download link to one that I know should work. The book has a few hidden objectives attached to it that get completed when you reach certain pages. In any case, it's probably better addressed in the tech support forums and will need a copy of your savegame to trace back to what's causing the crash. -

Besides that it appears that a ton of the assets shipped with the mission are in the meantime part of the core mod causing tons of warnings to spam the console. So it may be worthwhile considering an update either way.

Yes it was in a discussion where someone was saying how unhappy they are with the way game companies grant themselves permission to do whatever they like to your PC and personal info today. I pointed out that giving up games completely is an unnecessarily overkill solution when there are free games like TDM to play.

I'm happy to present my first FM, The Spider and the Finch. There may be a spider, but no ghosts or undead. It should run a couple hours. It's now available on the Missions page or the in-game downloader. Many thanks to the beta testers Acolytesix, Cambridge Spy, datiswous, madtaffer, Shadow, and wesp5 for helping me improve and making the mission to the best of my abilities. This would not be have been possible without Fidcal's excellent DarkRadiant tutorial. Thanks also to the many people who answered my questions in the TDM forums. Cheers! 2023-12-13 Mission updated to version 3. Fixed a bug where the optional loot option objective was not actually optional. Hi guys, through the "cheats" topic I got the idea, that it would be quite useful, if there were tags for missions (the post was about removing the killing restriction in some missions to suit the prefered play style). I don't know how easy or difficult this is, but with them, it would be quite convenient to pick missions with playstyles, environment, etc one does want to use. This could also be expanded to other mission properties. I remember a discussion about climbable drains, handles on doors, that cannot be picked and other things the map author chooses for himself. That way these things would be clearer and as I said before, it is easier to choose missions with playstyles that suit oneself. What do think?

Well) There is my story with some log files... Darkmode starts and works on doom3.gpl well, but with some random crashes. All you need for start darkmode - is (slill) original game data from doom3. (*.pk4 files in base directory) Here are some steps I have passed. (it is crappy scenario it maybe, but it works) 1) I have cloned git-repository from https://github.com/TTimo/doom3.gpl to /home/_data/_setup/_incomings/id_tech_4_src/doom3.gpl/ (this dir figures in logs - so it may be important) 2) After compilation (just compilation - I did not intalled it), I created the ./base directory in .../doom3.gpl/neo directory (there you have doom3.x86 file). After that I put there the original doom3 game data files ( all *.pk4 from original installation installation for example), and created simlink "/usr/local/games/doom3" targered to "/home/_data/_setup/_incomings/id_tech_4_src/doom3.gpl/" (directorythere we have doom3.x86 file). 3) it may be you could also need to copy .../doom3.gpl/neo/gamex86-base.so to .../doom3.gpl/base/gamex86.so and create empty .../doom3.gpl/base/default.cfg file 4) so - after that I downloaded darkmod to ~/.doom3/darkmod directory and started tdmlauncher.linux (well, you know - as for me - it starts well and via mod-loading menu from original doom`s gui, but, it may be, I have somethink missed ? ) 5) That`s all, as I remebbered... I was asked for cd-key also but you have it on your Doom3-disk There are some random craches - you can see log for some information. for example this fault : ASSERTION FAILED! cm/CollisionModel_rotate.cpp(1295): 'tw.axis[0] * tw.axis[0] + tw.axis[1] * tw.axis[1] + tw.axis[2] * tw.axis[2] > 0.99f' signal caught: Trace/breakpoint trap si_code 128 Trying to exit gracefully.. Since due to the nature of this forum, file/image sharing is used quite frequently, I thought to present some alternatives to the widely used Gdrive, which I don't like so much, especially since the last TOS change. File Sharing To share large files there are several options that also do not require registration. The first is File Hosting Online, which supports files up to 25 Gb, encrypted and also includes a Virus Scan that ensures safe use Another good option is Gofile, free to use, privacy focused and unlimited Bandwith. No refistry needed. While the files are accesed or downloaded at least one time a week, they are never deleted, otherwise inactive files are deleted after 10 days. If you prefer to use P2P, that means to share files directly from PC to other, without a hoster in the middle, there are also very good options, which permits to share files and folders without limites of type and size. The most easy to use is O&O File Direct, a small Desktop app (sadly only Windows), very easy to use 1 Open the app and drag the files/folders you like to share in its window 2 Optional adjust the days and amount of permited downloads and if you want a password 3 Share the link which apears in the app Done The only limits are, that the receptor only can download your files, when your PC is online, on the other hand this permits that you can stop the download in any moment, going offline or shutting down the PC. The other limit is, that the files to share can't be in a protected folder. Her are an Example with a list of Search Enines (Html file 423,56 Kb). While I am online, you can download it https://file.direct/f/pmjVFnjfkjFTKTt5 Videos One of the best options is Streamable (need a free account, inactive videos are deleted after 90 days in the free version) Alternatively you can use Streamja, a simple Video sharer with good privacy, free account optional (nick, mail) Images Ok, there are a lot of Image sharer, most used the known Imgur, because of this I add only one which offers some advantages over Imgur. ImgBox (free account) is a reliable platform to share and host images like Imgur, but it make it very easy to upload and post dozend of images simultaneous, selecting all the images you want and drag them on the window, offering coresponding bulk codes from the selected images to post them with one click for forums (BBcode), Html and others, fullsize or thumbnails. More since Imgur used since some time the hated webm formats for gif images, hardly accepted in most forums.

So I created a Persian wall, but the poly/tris count is insane, despite making the majority of it out of patches and reducing the tessellation to as low as possible. Before I ask someone to look at this for me, if there any way (other then the can-o-worms that is Blender) that I can use to said amounts. The poly/tris count atm is 15/21k, prefabs - mega Just an fyi - I only had 3 instances of this model and a cut down prfab and it caused the the to crash with a malloc error

(Arachnophobes might prefer short mode...) Please expect to need your lantern in regular and ghost modes! Short ("easy") mode is a smaller map, so if you are looking for areas others reference below, or 100% of the loot, you'll need to play on another mode. I wanted to create my first mission before I became influenced by too many others' ideas, and limited myself to what has been done before. As such, this mission is not set in a city/town, and has some features that are likely to be provocative. There's a section some really like, which others don't, either way I kept it short to not last too long. If it's supposed to be an octagon, I don't think the corners need to be bevelled. Certainly it looks much better to bevel square corners, but the angles of an octagon don't look bad imo. If you want a smooth cylinder though, the default cylinder patch has 16 sides, which looks smooth enough in game. That would be easier than bevelling 8 corners. Speaking of smoothing; I was pleasantly surprised to find that if you make a model in Blender with smooth-shading ticked, then export an ase file, it will retain the smooth shading when imported to darkradiant.

The Blender export scripts have been updated to work with the new Blender 4.1 series. In this Blender version, they removed "Autosmooth" altogether, along with the corresponding parts of the Python API. This meant that the "Use Autosmooth settings" option had to be removed from the LWO exporter, where it was previously the default setting. The new default is "Full", which smooths the whole mesh, giving similar behaviour to ASE models, although "None" is still an option if you want a completely unsmoothed mesh.

I suspected that alphabetical pk4 loading order might be a cause, however I'm inclined to doubt it as the default TDM pk4's start with "tdm_" whereas mine start with "tdmu_" which my file browser lists after in alphabetical sorting mode. I am in need of an ASE exporter for Blender. I tried KatsBits ASE export, but it's so old that modern Blender versions don't even list the addon after it's installed. Someone made a thread about an ASE importer recently, but no exporter. I can export to lwo for the time being, but still prefer ase for own reasons.
