1. Terrific! The beta test thread is up: https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/22238-beta-testing-the-spider-and-the-finch/
2. https://www.amazon.com/ZE551ML-5-5-Inch-Unlocked-International-Warranty/dp/B00W94246I/ref=sr_1_3?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1512841427&sr=1-3&keywords=zenfone+2 After my experience with Shamsung and their lack of OS updates, as well as a puffed/overheating battery, I'm thinking about an upgrade. This Zenfone is a bit older, but it still has killer specs. And it has an easy-to-unlock boot loader, ensuring that I can install Lineage OS on it and (in doing so) get more than six months of OS updates on the device. I look at newer devices in this price range and most (all) of them have less memory and NAND than this Zenfone 2. Some are still shipping with 16GB! This bad boy from 2015 has 64GB of nand and 4 GB of RAM! So is there any reason not to get this ZF2? I did see one modern phone that looked attractive by LeEco, but it has no headphone jack, so I ruled it out. Another one that looks nice is the modern Moto G. But I don't think it has official LOS support, so I really do think that I would be better off with the ZF2. The only downside that I see with this ZF2 is that the graphics are PowerVR (proprietary) not Intel (which are open and part of the kernel). This means that they might have trouble updating it in the future if/when PowerVR doesn't feel like providing new binary drivers.
3. Well the original reason I came up with it was to have the possibly of an alternative regular door. When the player opens it, they get teleported right behind the door, like as if they entered through it. This means the door never has to be auto-closed (for performance) and you don't bump into it when opening. But I guess ai will have an issue with teleportation so wouldn't be able to use that teledoor. Btw. what happens if there's an ai patrol route in the location the player gets teleported to and the player ends in the place where the ai is at that moment?
4. Ulysses 2: Protecting the Flock By Sotha The mission starts some time after the events of Ulysses: Genesis, and continues the story of Ulysses. It is a medium sized mission with a focus on stealthy assassinations and hostage liberation. BUILD TIME: 12/2014 - 05/2015 CREDITS The TDM Community is thanked for steady supply of excellent mapping advice. Thanks goes also to everyone contributing to TDM! Voice Actors: Goldwell (as Goubert and Ulysses), Goldwell's Girlfriend (as Alis) Betatesters: Airship Ballet, Ryan101. Special Thanks to: Springheel and Melan (for proofreading). Story: Read & listen it in game. Link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwR0ORZU5sraRGduUWlVRmtsX3c/view?usp=sharing Other: Spoilers: When discussing, please use spoiler tags, like this:
Hidden text.
Mirrors: Could someone put this on TDM ingame downloader? Thanks!
5. Welcome to the Dark Mod forums MarsManon! Thank you very much for the kind words about SLL, it's always nice to hear We all worked real hard on bringing Grayman's map to life and I'm glad you enjoyed it
6. I was so enchanted by this FM, I had to sign up to the forums the same day I finished it to come thank the authors Genuinely, truly incredible work! I was so overwhelmed in places that I resorted to just shouting joy at my monitor two, three, maybe four entirely separate times while playing. Exploring, puzzling, finding something new, trying to use it, and finding it does a whole new, separate, wonderful thing! There aren't enough words inside me to describe the feeling. It was breathtaking. I don't have any specific feedback that hasn't come through this thread before Thanks so much for making this, for all the inspiration and ingenuity and effort it took. If I never play another level this good, in any other game, in my life, I'd be fine with that.
7. @datiswous, made that correction fm_test.subs --> fm_conversations.subs @stgatilov, about srt naming and file location, would you be OK with the following edit? New/changed stuff in italics: srt command is followed by paths to a sound sample and its .srt file, typically with matching filenames. An .srt file is usually placed either with its sound file or in a "subtitles" folder. The .srt file format is described e.g. [1]. The file must be in engine-native encoding (internationalization is not supported yet anyway) and have no BOM mark. It contains a sequence of text messages to show during the sound sample, each with start and end timestamps within the sample's timeline. It is recommended to use common software to create .srt files for sound samples, instead of writing them manually. This way is more flexible but more complicated, and it is only necessary for long sounds, for instance sound sample of a briefing video. It's a simple enough standard that it can be shown as an short example, demonstrating that subtitle segments can have time gaps between them. And the example can show correct TDM usage, without requiring a trip off-site and picking through features that TDM doesn't support. Specifically, the example shows how to define two lines by direct entry, rather than using unsupported message location tags (X1, Y1, etc.). And skips other unavailable SRT font markups like italics, mentioned in the wikipedia description. The example would also show the TDM-specific path treatment. The example could be inserted before the sentence "It is recommended to use common software...."
8. Personally I think this is the worst idea ever. The Reason forums has LOADS of info and knowledge, built up through years and years. I'm really sad to see it go away, and I can't understand why they've made this decision. https://www.propellerheads.se/forum/showthread.php?p=1579099#poststop
9. Still spreading the word about TDM on forums to new peops... Funny to see people say "Awesome, I loved playing Thief back in the day!"

Yes it was in a discussion where someone was saying how unhappy they are with the way game companies grant themselves permission to do whatever they like to your PC and personal info today. I pointed out that giving up games completely is an unnecessarily overkill solution when there are free games like TDM to play.

Honestly the mod/Indie genre is still really booming right now. And they aint got no reason to do shady invasive privacy bs.

What Epifire said. :-)

10. Damn I just had this bow crash but didnt have the debugger. Please mention me if you guys come up with a solution in here. For some reason I feel like Im getting it more than others, it might be because I use a lot of arrows when testing my missions.
11. I have an idea. From time to time, these kind of guard create a penis during animation. This penis creates a thread during spawn, but it starts it as DelayedStart(0 ms). Instead of running the script immediately, it stores its entityNumber onto the callstack of the script thread. Let's suppose that for some reason penis gets destroyed immediately, and bow attachment gets spawned at this exact moment: then the bow attachment reuses entityNumber of the penis. At some moment suicide thread wakes up, reads entityNumber from stack, and kills the entity with this index --- but now it is bow attachment instead of penis. That's a simple explanation why dangling pointers are dangerous! However, if this really works like this, the whole scripting should be completely broken, since scripts in general often wait long time, and all the entities they reference might die during waiting. I can hardly believe this situation is always handled that bad. I'd like to ask people who have used scripting a lot. What happens if you have a local variable X of type "entity", then you do "sys.wait(1.0);", and then try to use X but it has died during waiting?
12. I see you are trying to make subtitles system more complicated, but I don't understand what's the reason. And I prefer not to add complexity/normalization if not needed. If someone needs visual cues, he most likely needs them for all sounds. Why do you suggest adding another parameter about visual cues to subtitles definitions?
13. OK I think I've got to the bottom of this. I've created this forum thread (with bug report): https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/22221-bug-drowning-ai-in-shallow-water/ I can apply a workaround, although it won't be perfect and the bug itself needs fixing in the engine. There are a few other things that need fixing so will put an update together soonish.
14. If any mappers have encountered weirdness with kill objectives not working with drowning AI, I think I've found out why. I don't think it would be a particularly difficult one to fix either. I've raised this bug report: https://bugs.thedarkmod.com/view.php?id=6323 Some context here: https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/21837-fan-mission-the-lieutenant-2-high-expectations-by-frost_salamander-20230424/&do=findComment&comment=487316 I think this is a bug, but just raising here in case some people think otherwise.
15. I think the reason the dev forums exist is to provide a place where the implementation of features can be discussed without getting mixed up with other debates when someone believes what the devs are doing is wrong. We often post public discussion threads for features with subjective elements like the frob outline, because community feedback is very important. But there will always be vocal defenders with strong views for or against certain features, or how exactly it should be implemented in their opinion. At some point a decision has to be made and be carried through, which is what the dev forums are for. Almost all of the threads are very technical, basically explaining and discussing recent or potential code changes with other devs. Its hard to say. Its a hobby the devs do in their spare time, so people come and go when they're in the mood and when they have the time. The team page is mostly accurate except for some relatively newer additions like myself.
16. How you can help depends a lot on what skills you have. I can Record Video Recording "Let's Play" videos or simple walkthroughs of existing missions and posting them to Youtube is great exposure for the mod (see example .) Be sure to let us know so we can link to them. If you have some editing ability, Video tutorials, where you explain how the mod works, or how to use specific tools, would also be great. Video trailers, showcasing interesting places and features, are also great for publicity. An example is . I can Write Writing reviews for missions are always nice, especially if they include good screenshots. Not only does it give us something to post on other forums, but it makes mappers feel good when their mission gets attention (especially if it's positive). We have a collective thread to post reviews in: http://forums.thedar...s-walkthroughs/ Writing reviews of the mod as a whole, targetted an an audience that doesn't know much about TDM, is also very useful. You could also try offering your services to mappers to create interesting readables, or to proofread for their mission. I can Act and Record Audio We are always on the lookout for good quality audio recordings for vocal sets. If interested, you can pick a few different lines from this script: http://wiki.thedarkm...t:_Average_Jack and send the recordings to Springheel, who then writes a script based on the type of voice you have. I can Translate We could always use translations of our menu/hud into more languages. Also, only a few FMs are aavailable in more than one language, so there is a lot of work there, see the I18N Translator's Guide in the Wiki. I can Model Great! Take a look at the model request thread:http://forums.thedar...-requests-here/ and pick something that interests you. Or just post a, "Hey, anybody want a model?" thread in this forum and I'm sure mappers will get back to you. I can Animate Fantastic. We can always use more good animations. Our current character rigs use a Maya skeleton. PM Springheel for more info. I know C++ Have a look at our coding section in the wiki, pick an issue or feature from the bugtracker of the mod or the leveleditor, download the recent sourcecode release (or better ask for an SVN checkout) and get cracking. Make sure nobody is already working on that specific issue and feel free to ask questions. I can Edit Images We can always use completely new textures and/or improved versions of older textures. How to get started and how to import them into the mod. I can Take Photos Good quality photos of useful textures (medieval-ish building facades, dirt, rocks, wood, etc) are always welcome. The fewer directional shadows and higher resolution, the better. I don't have any skills Even if you can't do any of the above, you can still help out. Talk about TDM in other forums; share your (preferably positive) experiences with other gamers you know. Last, but not least, compliment people when you like their work. Saying "thanks", to a developer or, "I really enjoyed your mission" to a mapper will make their day. -------------------- I'll update this further as more things occur to me.
17. The working- and underclass are being reduced to an inferior kind of human and become locked in this state. The inferior people have been hopelessly left behind. There is an ongoing class divide in society based on genetic quality - genes for beauty, IQ, willpower, health. The people with superior genes have overtaken the inferior people and are getting ahead more and more - socially, in education, economically, culturally. Social class is basically a function of genetic class. How far one comes in life, how educated, successful and rich one can be is limited by biology, by one's genetic makeup. Those with superior genes almost never reproduce with those of inferior genes today. The upper class greatly cares for eugenics as true basis for their superiority - for example Warren Buffett only received his wife from her father after he successfully took an IQ test - 70 years ago, when almost nobody in the public even knew about the concept of IQ. (This was different in the past - aristocracy basically legally raped their servants, later successful men married their secretaries (if they were healthy and beautiful) - this resulted in an influx of superior genes in the underclasses, a genetic mixing of the social classes, and allowed - in the following generations - for some social advance.) Not so today: Underclass people reproduce with underclass people, and upper class people reproduce with superior people, only. The middle class dissolves - its individuals either become upper class or fall down to lower class. Therefore, the genetic divide will only grow wider - until the superior humans will become a homo superior, and the regular humans will be reduced to an Orc-like state. The superior people, by natural and sexual selection, will become ever more healthy, smart, intelligent, ambitious and beautiful- while the inferior people will stay ugly, stupid, lazy and diseased, because their genes are never improved by mixing with superior genes. Basically, there is an enrichment of good genes towards the upper class, that is, superior genes wander up, and inferior genes down the social ladder. Therefore, a meritocracy and economic sexual freedom results in a feudal aristocracy on a genetic basis. One could even say, that a true meritocracy must grow into a feudal system based on genetic quality. This effect is, I think, the driving cause for what we see today and will see in economical, sexual and political divide - society, people divide themselves ever more in genetic quality. The controversy in political opinion, economic, sexual and educational matters becomes more intense - because inferior humans are being left behind, and hopelessly left behind, because there is no cure for having inferior genes - inferior people simply cannot successfully compete with superior people, no matter how much they try.
18. Ok, I understand now. The name "Open Doors on Unlock" fooled me for some reason. There are regular doors (and windows) that can expose you and then there are trap doors, manhole covers, chests, strong boxes, jewelry boxes, wardrobes, cabinets, desks, panels, showcases... and the game treats them all as doors. Tricky business.
19. There is certainly a lot of garbage, conspiracy videos and mediocre influencers on YT. This naturally happens on any platform, especially on Odysee, although the reason is more understandable there, since Odysee is based on Blockchain, this makes it impossible to delete any inappropriate content, moderation, can only hide the videos if they are reported, but this only transfers them to LBRY. But YT does not have this problem and the moderation there is quite quick in deleting content that in its opinion is inappropriate, but this corresponds more to political reasons and content that is uncomfortable for Google, rather than other idiocies or complaints from users.
20. Author note: It's hard to believe it's already been a year since Act 1 came out! Well during this mission the player will be following Corbin into the Grimwood district to followup on a lead from last night (Act 1) .. the mysterious tablet! This mission is my first time including full EFX support as well as a HD briefing video file, additionally a new script has been added crafted by the talented Obsttorte which has loot flying towards the player when you pick it up. On a level design front I have tried to change things up a bit by really catering towards a number of play styles, this mission can be completely ghosted or you can use the tools at your disposal to wreak havoc on the citizens of Northdale. For the first time I have tried to create more sandbox environments which don't offer clear answers handed directly to you, so if you're having trouble figuring something out try a different method. This mission takes between 1 - 2 hours to finish depending on the difficulty you play on and how thoroughly you explore. I hope you enjoy your night in Northdale! - Goldwell Voice actors Fen Phoenix Goldwell Random_taffer Yandros Beta testers Amadeus Boiler's Hiss Cambridge Spy Chakkman Crowind Epifire Kingsal SquadaFroinx Custom Assets Andreas Rocha DrK Epifire Grayman Kingsal MalachiAD Obsttorte Sotha Springheel SquadaFroinx Purgator With special thanks to Epifire for creating a large collection of custom models, Grayman for helping out with coding, Kingsal for drawing the ingame map and Moonbo for his script revision on the briefing video. 21. http://store.steampowered.com/app/219640/ Chivalry is now free for some reason. Get it now if you want it forever. Edit: Offer over, apologies.
22. Maybe the reason is that these sounds are non-streaming in the engine...
23. Is there a way to make multiple sounds while getting multiple items? That would be enough to make the player check the inventory. Also auto-search could be the final reason to accept the current implementation ;): short-frob shoulder body, long-frob auto-search body and grabbing it for movement.
