  1. Hi, Hope you can help. I thought there was an updater within the TheDarkMod launcher. I see 2.10 is released and would like to update When I open the launcher, at the first page is show "TDM 2.09/64" at the bottom left corner When I click on that, it says I have the latest update. So.. how can I upgrade to 2.10 and make use of all the hard work you guys have put into making this update? Thanks
  2. There was a change in the installation process - the old updater has been retired for a new installer. You will have to redownload that installer from the Downloads page -> https://www.thedarkmod.com/downloads/ Extract it to your existing TDM installation and run it. It should then allow you to update to 2.10.
  3. When I run "tdm_update.linux" the first thing it does is make sure it's up to date, which is fine except two things: 1. When it relaunches itself, it breaks the connection to the terminal screen so no amount of "^C^C^C^C^C" will stop it. 2. It changes directories somehow because it tries to download the whole mod again in ~/.doom3/darkmod/darkmod. Any ideas? Thanks, Richard
  4. When I tried your .exe, I got this: https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/21477-water-effects-not-rendered-through-warp-glass/&do=findComment&comment=475732 You also suggested trying the 'latest development build'. I asked if that can be obtained using tdm_installer, and you said 'yes'. That's what I reported here: https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/21477-water-effects-not-rendered-through-warp-glass/&do=findComment&comment=475856 So - I am probably doing something wrong but not sure what
  5. Yes, change the priority of the mirrors. Otherwise look at Installation page of the wiki for other methods. But only restarting the updater didnt work? (you dont have to delete the already downloaded files, because the updater checks for this). at this moment freezing up during a download, is a "standard feature" of the updater, for a long time now. so, my question to the developer of the updater: @updater-dev: do the updater checks the speed of the download-dataflow of a current file? the updater shows the speed of the file, but does he react also on it?

I've been considering reinstalling TDS for a wile now... I've still got my original CDs. Have these guys fixed the bug where you get stuck floating? Last time I played TDS, that happened and I was unable to get out of it, so I ragequit.

You can surpass that bug by drawing your bow, performing a shot, and draw your blackjack when the bow is tensioned, to abort the bow shot. I'm hoping it's fixed in the Gold patch too though. Alongside the thing where you move sideways, when peeking left or right.

      @Biker Hmm.

      Build TDM mission in DR.

      Export as portions as ASE

Edit in Blender and export in TDS compatible format

      Import into T3ED

      Edit

      Release TDS mission...

      (or just stick with TDM)

  6. It's not just the Linux version. When you download TDM using the installer/updater tool, it'll download a zip file called tdm_shared or something similar, which it will automatically unpack into the download directory. This zip contains (among other things) the game binaries for both Windows AND Linux. I guess it keeps things simple since you can use the downloaded files on both systems if you want, but it does result in some extraneous files. On the plus side, I guess since TDM uses OpenGL this makes it quite easy to use in Wine without any real downsides if you really want.
  7. I agree with the people above (for the installation method). But according the packagebuild from that repo ("thedarkmod-bin" by diabonas), the standard missions are included. So Erze should got the missions files already. (packagebuild from thedarkmod-bin - https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/tree/PKGBUILD?h=thedarkmod-bin) (repo "thedarkmod-bin" - https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/thedarkmod-bin/) From my own experience, i have seen that that empty mission list and error, when the user doesn't have any write-permissions in the TDM folder. (and i know that most of the linux package installer scripts for TDM, doesnt give them to the user) Check if there are any mission folders and files in the fms folder in TDM folder "/opt/thedarkmod/fms" (?). If so, Add yourself to the user-group "games". (because according the packagebuild, that user-group has write-permissions to that folder) Or give everybody write permissions to "/opt/thedarkmod", and his subfolders/files. Or move the tdm-folder to your home-folder. If not, follow the official linux method. Set the write permissions of the existing tdm folder, download the tdm-updater to the existing tdm folder and run the updater (for more info, see installation methods on linux, on the TDM Wiki.) There is also another repo "thedarkmod" - https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/thedarkmod/ -edit- but that script also does not give permissions to the user. Only to group root and games. (admin, please move topic to tech support)
  8. Above 3 items are released now, on the "Barks" thread: https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/21740-english-subtitles-for-ai-barks/&do=findComment&comment=483331
  9. Instead of that, you could, in that time period, start learning your own missions and in doing so become more active on the forums, learning from others. It's also great to understand how things work in the engine, when you play. It might spoil some immersion though.. Or learn to build games with other engines, like Godot for example.

This looks cool, somehow oldschool in a nice way.

I hope the gameplay is unique to justify him reinventing the wheel instead of, e.g., just forking off of us. The art design looks good.

  10. Made 2.09b the default version. I hope at least a few people have installed and played it I'll finish the release process tomorrow (tags, source, pdb, etc.)
  11. @Dragofer, I'm wondering what template tags to give to this page, besides the usual "Editing". I'm tempted to add "Physics", but are force fields really considered part of the physics engine?
  12. There is no SS3, how can they do a remake? And thank god they got rid of unity, that engine is total trash garbage on anything over 60 fps. Just spend 5 minutes on steam forums for Unity project games, and there's just thousands of people complaining about poor performance, stuttering etc.

Part two is recorded. Now I only need to add the subs and rip it down. Should be on youtube tomorrow.

I didn't know that first trick setting up the base, so thanks for that.

  13. Sure. There are several methods to install and run TDM on mac os. Read our wiki article: https://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Installer_and_Manual_Installation#Mac_OS I recommend you to use the playonmac-method to run the most current version of tdm, version 2.07. PlayOnMac (a WINE frontend) is an free application suite you need, for de windows version of the tdm client and the tdm updater to play, update and install TDM on mac os. because there is no 2.07 mac os binary for tdm. Install play on mac by following the steps from the video in the spoiler below, Until 07:19 in the video, where you can choose the TDM installation methods: run the TDM updater, Instead of the notepad++ installer. Download use "tdm_update.exe" from the windows instructions. follow the steps from the video 07:19 to 09:50, then select at that point the tdm_update.exe. run freyks unofficial installer, Instead of the notepad installer. (recommended method) download it from the download page. follow the steps from the video 07:19 to 09:50, then select freyks unofficial installer. (and see instructions on the wiki) Or Use the The dark mod setup build in playonmac (but its very unstable). from video 07:19 in the video, step 3 from "install tdm" in our wiki article. And if you have any questions about it, please create a new topic in our tech support subforum. note: on 29 march 2020 i re-tested the options above. Please use freyks unofficial installer, for now. Because the other options gives you several errors on start, that we need need to fix: tdm updater gives immediately you an write error. After a restart of the app, the write error doesnt appear. the tdm build in play on mac is veeeery slow while installing his (old) wine environment.
  14. I'm trying to fix the warnings on my end, but remodelling the models is out of my league, so you're going to have to fix the stairs model on your end: "WARNING:ConvertLWOToModelSurfaces: model 'models/darkmod/architecture/stairs/set01_stairs.lwo' has 17/8108 nontriangular polygons. Make sure you triplet it down" Edit Also there's this model, which is probably a modelling issue as well: "WARNING:ConvertLWOToModelSurfaces: model 'models/darkmod/misc/clipmodels/pickaxe_cm.lwo' has bad or missing uv data" I still have hopes for script-hotfixing the following warnings: "WARNING:Couldn't load image: tdm_tongue [map entity: atdm_ai_townsfolk_female_1] [decl: atdm:ai_head_female02_base_brunette in def/tdm_ai_heads_springheel.def] [decl: female_head02 in def/tdm_ai_heads_springheel.def] [model: models/md5/chars/heads/npcs/female_head02.md5mesh] [decl: tdm_tongue in <implicit file>] [image: tdm_tongue]” (Edit: I hotfixed this issue and attached the hotfix in the tech support forums. The "tdm_tongue" shader should simply be renamed to "tdm_character_tongue".) “WARNING:Couldn't load image: models/darkmod/wood/boards/wood_brown_dull01 [map entity: func_static_53] [decl: old_plaster in skins/tdm_models_architecture_modules.skin] [decl: models/darkmod/wood/boards/wood_brown_dull01 in <implicit file>] [image: models/darkmod/wood/boards/wood_brown_dull01]" (Edit: I hotfixed this issue as well - see the tech support forums - but I think you should still go over this file, because there are a lot of other suspect textures in there as well.)
  15. Probably the .script file that's needed, but unfortunately can't be included with a prefab. Maybe there's a comment somewhere in the prefab (or in the wiki or forums) that says what script it needs and where to find it. (The similar combination setup I used earlier doesn't involve "slot", so clearly uses a different script that I what I have.)
  16. I bet having multiple setups of settings on one computer, can introduce issues as well. Then when I go to update, the updater could be very confused over where "the" installation path is. You're talking to a guy who really didn't have time to reinstall one new version, and you're asking him to install a second one. I'd much rather wait and see if the bug fixes itself. There's a good chance that it will, and if not, I'll just have to keep moving the other view a bit, like I've been doing, to get the camera to unfreeze again.
