I'd play that... Too bad nobody uses double-sided DVD's or you could have both games on one disk. XD

Yeah I've seen some really nice and convincing skyboxes in TDM. Of note is the one on Chalice of Kings.

  2. @jaxa: yes, I'm taking the class

I never got into Doctor Who. My best friend loves it. I have to wait for the crap to finish every Saturday night before we can go out.

    3. Sir Taffsalot

OTOH Red Dwarf is absolutely awesome. I have every series on DVD. Got a bit weak towards the end but when they were firing on all cylinders it was magic.

    4. Baal

      Baal

Most people I know have never heard of it because it wasn't aired in germany. And it's really hard explaining it without sounding totally silly. Which it is but I love it. ;)

  4. Another silly sign: A restaurant near us has a sign that tells you when they're open. Unfortunately, it's an electric sign and when the restaurant's closed, the sign is turned off. So if you pull up off-hours to see when you can go there to eat, the sign is off and you can't read it.

      161803398874989

Doesn't that get the essential message across? If the sign says they're open, they're open. If not, they're not.

      jaxa

It was open. You just forgot your brick.

    3. nbohr1more

      nbohr1more

Oh yeah. That's when your wife asks you to leave the warmth and comfort of the car to get up close to the sign. Typically in a bad neighborhood endangering both your health and safety...

  5. Back to fixing bugs for a little while. A whole day to find a tiny little missing 'else' statement. Gotta love it.

Me too! Your post reminded me that I hadn't gotten around to watching the show. I have literally been pausing the episodes every few minutes so I could get screenshots of the sets!

If Doom music is not enough, you can amp it up with Brutal Doom music:

    4. Xarg

      Xarg

Brutal Doom music *is* awesome, but NEDM is a meme, basically "even the coolest thing ever can't make what I'm doing right now less sucky".

Haha! That's why at work I try to avoid putting coders in an open-plan office. Sketch out your plan on a piece of paper first and cross out stuff you've done is my only advice. It helps when trying to pick up the thread.

      Sotha

Haha! I am familiar with this cyclical interruption thing.

Just don't move any of the objectives when you're done... ;)

  10. From the Master Foundry's review of "Thief" (http://themasterfoundry.com/thief-revew/): "I’ve played better fan missions than Thief, I’ve played better Thief games than Thief, I’ve even played better Thief-inspired games than Thief. The Dark Mod alone is miles ahead of almost anything you’ll find here, and it’s completely free. So please make sure to give that a try before even considering giving Eidos Montreal your hard-earned money."

  14. Hosed my darkmod tree while trying to revert backward for bug fixing. Looks like Tortoise SVN has some issues in that respect. Downloading the whole thing from scratch, so today is shot.

Olive oil is good for cleaning bronzes, maybe some was left over after such a clean.

  21. In TDM, I pile fences, crates, whatever on top of walls to keep the player from mantling upward. In RL, I pile pillows on the bed to keep our new dachshund from leaping from the floor to the bed. :)

I sometimes like to play without the lightgem. It's another element of challenge. You have to pay attention to where you're walking, though I still think it's right that it's in the vanilla setup.

One way to get rid of hud is binding with body awareness: when you take bow, you can see arrows sticking out of quiver at bottom of screen. If you want to see stocked items, you take a look at your chest and pockets under coat, or open sack. Also left hand is not so busy, so you could have light gem as watch on wrist(compass, etc) -left hand could be switched on and off just like right hand with sword.

    4. Lux

      Lux

Was not aware of that but excellent! I'm going to try that this weekend to up the challenge.

  22. MODDB's Mod of the Year voting has begun. Continues for the next 10 days.
