  1. https://youtu.be/fwJwNLRY4kg "I am not enjoying my journeys, its so cold at the moment I imagine the chill could freeze a candle flame into a fire-gem and ole scratch's tears solid to his stoney face. Suffice to say, I'll be happy to get out of these whipping winds. A friend has asked me to keep an eye on his place while he is out of town. That part of Bridgeport is quiet enough, but he has been having a few problems he would like sorted out. I will know more when I get there." Build Time: God knows, too many hours. Thanks:- - As always espect to the Dark Mod team and for all the hard work they put and continue to put into it. - Flanders for his excellent models and textures. - Special thanks to the people that answered my technical questions on the forum. - Beta testers: Oldjim, Lowenz, AluminumHaste, Greyman, nbhormore, McPhisto, Lost_soul, Pranqster and the original testers! 2. I'm using the version from kcghost. I just tested and I can't see any difference inside the inventory. On the stats itself it doesn't show the different loot types (still seen in the inventory), but instead gives more info on stealth score. Edit: I see Dragofer made an updated version of his script. I have to check that out. Edit2: That version works: https://forums.thedarkmod.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=21272&key=02755164a3bed10498683771fe9a0453
  3. So there will be no contest after all?

  9. Announcing the Release of 'Requiem' for The Dark Mod! Download Download the latest version of the Dark Mod here: http://www.thedarkmo...wnload-the-mod/ Download the mission here: Mediafire: http://www.mediafire...u89/requiem.pk4 Southquarter: http://www.southquar...ons/requiem.pk4 Fidcal.com: http://www.fidcal.co...ons/requiem.pk4 Create a folder in your Dark Mod install with the path "darkmod/fms/requiem" and place the downloaded .pk4 file inside. When you load up The Dark Mod, the mission will appear on the "New Mission" page. Requiem can also be found directly using the in-game loader. Gameplay Notes While this mission is playable in TDM 1.8, for an optimal experience please download and play in TDM 2.0 (or higher). Most inventory items in the game can be dropped, so no need to carry them around after they are no longer of any use. Note that If you use noclip or other console commands while playing, there is a good chance that you will break the intended flow of gameplay. Credits Mapping and Readables: Gelo R. While I've been involved in indie game development for a while now, I'm first and foremost a writer. My most recent project has been a novella that tries to capture the visual feel and tone of the Thief series (you can find the link below). As I was writing, I found myself playing a lot of Thief and Dark Mod fan missions, and got to thinking that maybe I wanted to make one myself, as a companion piece to the book. When I finished up writing, I had a bit of down time and decided to take the plunge. Having never done any serious mapping before, my plan was to make a small mission that I could bang out in a month or two and call it a day. Well, as sometimes happens, the project got a little bit bigger than I had planned. Ten months, and lots of elbow grease later, Requiem is finally ready for you to play. I'd like to thank everyone who helped pitch in to help make Requiem come alive, from those who took the time to answer my many questions on the forums to those who actively contributed to the FM. I especially want to thank Bikerdude who served as my mapping mentor, and Obsttorte whose clever scripts really turned what was in my head into the game that you are playing. Above all, I want to thank you for downloading and playing Requiem; I hope you enjoy it. 11. It wasn't a "sacrifice", it was a deliberate decision. People wanted the game to be as close as possible to the original, including pixelated graphics. If you ask me, the former version based on the Unity engine looked and felt better. But, hey... I guess I'm not the right person to judge that, as I never played the original, and always found that the art style of System Shock 2 is much better anyway. This also illustrates the issue with community funded games: Too many cooks spoil the broth. In game design, you need freedom, not thousands of people who want you to do this and this and that. Just take a look at the Steam forums and see how all those wimps complain again about everything. Hopeless.
  12. DarkRadiant 3.5.0 is ready for download. 13. After being spoiled with so many great entries in the contest, we have another amazing mission! I also think it's a good idea to put up an unofficial poll for this one too to see where it would have landed. Thanks Goldwell (and everyone in the contest) for raising the bar!
  14. What I understood is that the idea of TDM was born from that it was unclear if T3 would get a level editor at the time. Source: https://web.archive.org/web/20050218173856/http://evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=268
  15. @stgatilov, you said, RE string comparisons: I'm unclear if you are referring just to changes you made in 2.11. I think equality testing of two strings (one of which is "text") was working and is a good and expected capability, and should be supported. Including against an empty string. I noticed in your bug activities that you did remove some comparisons with ... == "". I see you also removed string concatenation with "\". No problem, but does that mean multiline macros are no longer a thing? (If so, I'll need to change some examples) BTW, the series so far hasn't really tried to cover the 2.11 changes, since I figured it's a work in progress. But since you did a great deal of GUI work in July, perhaps it's stable enough to try to consider it. I see the logs listed in bugtracker, but don't have access to the private forum threads mentioned there: https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/20526-gui-refactoring/&do=findComment&comment=477179 https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/21535-order-of-evaluation-in-expressions-materials-and-gui/ (Nor do I have SVN currently set up on my newer machine, for changelogs from there.) Any place else I should look?
  16. Wow I thought there would be at least 3. That's sad... Anyways, with all this arctic air heading here for Christmas maybe I can get my own FM going. The one I've wanted to build for decades (meant for T2) is quite elaborate, but maybe I should just start with one that works (with flowing water, that's where it crashed for me, in TDM lol) With the new desktop it shouldn't be many issues anymore. Let me ask you this. Dark Radiant, what's the latest version these days? Do I need any more drivers or other stuff like graphics & such. I still got PhotoShop 6, so it's still cool to do new stuff too for wallpaper, paintings. Problem is, my old hdd. I don't want to open the new pc to install my old hdd as a slave just yet. There's other ways, these days. No CD/DVD on this one either. Using my old laptops external thing from Samsung to install older stuff like T2 & T3, but there seems to be an issue with Win 11. I'll figure it out eventually. Were you doing horror themed too? Not into those really. Mansion/Castle maps is the original of my idea. It's actually the lay out of Bamburger Castle in the UK. So, if there is no contest, yet, how far to plan for a new one? Valentine's?
  17. Congrats! This is a LANDMARK release and is almost too good to be true! It's pretty incredible that we've had multiple unbelievable missions come out recently! I just put the blasted shards of my blown-up mind back into my skull from the last batch of missions, and now this comes along and my brain matter is back on the floors and walls Mission is available at Moddb now as well: https://www.moddb.com/mods/the-dark-mod/addons/noble-affairs-210-beta-required Even though you aren't officially in the contest, it would be cool to have a poll on the thread so folks can see where it might have placed. I feel that there are multiple perfect score releases in this contest so it really comes down to more critical players as the deciding factor.
  18. This one is really essential: https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138607 Should work fine with the GOG version.
  19. Likewise, I was thinking of secretly finalising a very horror-themed mission for this contest but time got the better of me. Nevertheless it's budged yet closer to release.
  20. Due to a lack of contestants (I think i'm the only one now...) i'm going to be pulling out my entry as well. It's disappointing but I don't want to release a mission for a contest where i'm the only one competing. The mission i've shown off in the what are you working on thread will still see release in the future eventually though when the timing feels right, so I guess not all is lost.
  21. No Beta testing yet for the contest missions? Christmas is just around the corner
  22. As suggested by nbohr1more, we've still got time for a very short, focused Halloween contest. I hereby propose the following rules: Make the mission public on Halloween (31 October, Saturday). Prefabs and modules are okay, but don't just relabel a fully built mission you have worked on for five years and call it a submission. There is no rule 3.The deadline should make things neat, simple and focused. Don't build your dream mission (although feel free to build your worst nightmare!), because you won't finish in time. Build incrementally, and focus on getting something short and simple out the door. [edit] I don't know how to turn the poll results public, so please let it be known you are participating. I am participating!
  23. I originally thought it silly to join the contest because my map was in development(on and off) for like 4 years, and I had no real connection to any other FM. I hadn’t read beyond the first page because I was so busy with IRL stuff and I didn’t expect to release anytime soon. So to be honest I am woefully ignorant of what transpired up until this point in the discussion (I’ll read the whole thread on my next break) but if the end goal is mod exposure for an article on ModDB, then Builder willing, I’d love to join. Didn’t feel worthy to enter a contest with my first FM but I just want more folks to play the mod.
