DeTeEff Posted October 22 Report Posted October 22 This is definitely a fine map, epsecially for a/pair of begginner(s)! One should not compare with one's own work, but if I should compare this to my first mission in TDM, wow, this little mission is really good! Game play 3 I know the station was shut down, but there should at least be one or two AI present, for gameplay reasons. There is a new layer of work with adding AI (monster clipping for one) so I guess their abscence was because of time restraints. Other than that, there was not much to critizise. I loved the sneaking up on the ropes and good use of verticality. Story 3 Nothing special. The clues made sense. Short, descriptive briefing. Visual 4 Apart from some misaligned textures I found nothing distracting. I did find the areas after the pipecrawling a bit strange. It felt like outside, but there was some kind of roof? Was that whole area meant to be the interior of the station? 1 Quote
datiswous Posted October 22 Report Posted October 22 I wait with voting till the mission is upgraded. Currently I would (probably) vote everything 2. 1 Quote
RedNoodles Posted October 22 Report Posted October 22 the "undercity" concept is criminally underused- as the city grows taller old streets end up buried under new apartment buildings. I love it! very few FMs do this. one example I can think of is Whispers Below the Cobblestone for Thief Gold 3 Quote

Bikerdude has been helping us make some changes that I think would be unfair to try to submit for the competition specifically. But we appreciate you wanting to hold off for so long! Around every couple hundred years, the Builders construct a new layer, covering the old buildings and streets. 1 Quote
nbohr1more Posted October 24 Report Posted October 24 The new version is now available in the mission database. 1 2 Quote Please visit TDM's IndieDB site and help promote the mod: http://www.indiedb.com/mods/the-dark-mod (Yeah, shameless promotion... but traffic is traffic folks...)
thebigh Posted October 24 Report Posted October 24 Looking much better! More varied lighting, and quite a few graphical fixes, and now there's even a guard! 1 Quote My missions: Stand-alone Duncan Lynch series Down and Out on Newford Road the Factory Heist The Wizard's Treasure A House Call The House of deLisle

The Black Arrow Posted October 30 Report Posted October 30 (edited) I have given it a try and here is my short summary: - Amazing graphics, this is especially true Spoiler to the "Underground City" esque at the end. - The overlay is a bit confusing at times, but it's not too bad. You should add something more "dumbproof", especially to the main objective, I didn't know the top had something I needed to progress. - Coins? Inside a furniture? This should be one of the many "Deadly Sins of TDM Mapping". Please never do that again, it's such a bother and I am skeptical about anybody or anything being able to ever fix it, it's just terrible to combine a frobbable with such a TINY loot, even "Frob Helper" left the building. - It was short, way, way, waaay too short. It's a good mission, I'd say the graphics were spot on, the story is very "who cares" though, it's like an excuse plot. Gameplay is fine, it could be better though due to the mentioned issues I've found. Also, it could have been a bit lengthier, you could have added a pace where you would have to escape but since you can't come from where you came, you'd find another way. I'd rate it as overall a 3.5/5. Hope to see you improve and make more missions, it has a good start to it. It was made by "Korthak", I wish he could return, haven't seen a mission of his for years... Edited October 30 by The Black Arrow 1 Quote

I looked at version 2 (which is the newest version in the mission downloader) and it's practically the same mission. Edit: There was something wrong with my installation so I didn't play the new version. Now I did. Rating: Game Play Quality: 2 Story Quality: 2 Visual Quality: 3 I'm sure the mediocore rating is mostly due to releasing your first mission without proper beta-testing. I hope you'll try again and take a bit more time. The mission had some interesting aspects. Edited October 31 by datiswous 1 Quote
Cambridge Spy Posted November 3 Report Posted November 3 Here's my playthrough of this mission: 2 Quote "Let me guess - little blue men with three heads stole your sweetroll?"
MirceaKitsune Posted November 4 Report Posted November 4 (edited) For a short and simple FM this was pretty good. Had a bit more detail than I expected at first, even if there's a few objects clipping into walls and surfaces. It's a bit more linear than the average mission too, I can see this being played in speed runs. Found almost all loot but as always there's that little bit I end up missing Edited November 4 by MirceaKitsune 1 Quote Mods: Builder Blocks minigame | Keypad | Disguises
