Komag and Keepress have their first baby!

Wow, I finally have a few minutes to hop on the forums and make this announcement to you guys. Milly gave birth to our first born, a son, on Sunday, June 7, weighing 8lbs 14 oz, and 21.5 inches long. We had a home birth! So our little boy was born right in our own bed in our new home which we only just moved into one week ago! I know it sounds sorta crazy, but we really were careful to research the risks and benefits of hospital birth in the US versus a professional midwife attended home birth, and it turns out that if you are a healthy woman with few or no risk factors, that a home birth is equally safe. (The hospitals here often actually introduce complications, leading to our ridiculously high 30% cesarean rate for instance)

Now, his name ... you MUST believe me that this has NOTHING to do with Thief, and I even resisted it a little on that basis, but in the end Milly and I decided on "Garrett Sterling Ramsey". I know some of you are laughing your butts off over that, and I can't help but realize that it DOES look awfully funny for a huge Thief fan to name their kid after a computer a game, but the truth is that we like the name and I even almost decided against it due to the game, but then I just figured "Hey, we really like this name, and who cares what a few Thief fans online think", so we went with it.

But we all know I'll still be calling him my sweet cute little thief. :D

Congrats and enjoy, Komag. If this is your first child you're in for a ride you won't forget. :)

Congrats to the family! Hope all goes well in the future.

I tried the midwife thing, it didn't work, because I wasn't doing anything, the baby wasn't coming. I didn't progress, still didn't progress, she sent me home, we waited, and waited, even over night, I still wasn't progressing. My midwife, sent me to the hospital, glad she did.

They hooked me up to some monitors, they were going to induce labor, it didn't get that far, maybe 15 minutes after they hooked up the monitor, my daughters heart rate suddenly drop. If I would of waited a few more minutes at home, I would of lost my daughter. I did have to have a C-section, the cord was wrapped around her neck, and her shoulder, thats why she wasn't progressing. Things do happen, midwife and hospital, both are needed. I'm glad it worked out for you both. :-)

Yeah, right.

In other news, my first child will be called Gordon Freeman. The fact that I am a Half-Life fan is purely a coincidence, of course.

Congratulations :) Glad it worked out in the end! :)

Thanks everyone!!!

Garrett is sleeping in my lap as I type this. He's very adorable and I'm in love for life. I have indeed gotten very little sleep, which sort of make me a bit loopy and emotional ON TOP of everything.

I probably won't have much time for the mod for a couple months, with the baby and the new home still needing a lot of moving into and all. But maybe, we'll see.

Here's a pic of us napping when he was about 12 hours old:

Congratulations! :D I'm really happy for you! And the foto really looks great! Nice little guy. :D Reminds me when my own kids were born and how happy I was then. :D

I think the name is cool. If all names were blocked just because a protagonist of a game was happen to use it, I guess we constantly would have to come up with new ones. And Garrett is not really that strange a name. Would be bad if you had called him Wolverine or some other obsucre game name, but that name is really fine! :D

FWIW, my brother named his first son Piers Jacob after his - and his wife's - favorite author, "Piers Anthony Dillingham Jacob" (aka Piers Anthony).  ^_^

LOL! I used to like read Anthony quite a lot. Became a bit repititive after some time, but when I was young I read almost all his books. :D

If you find the new Beatles song "Now and Then", which was created with the help of AI, totally boring, then you should better play the mission of the same name by our esteemed mission maker friend joebarnin, because the latter is actually a creative milestone!

      Idea: Thief 3 style missions.
One of the great features of Thief 3 are missions defided in small segments with loading screens when you move from segment to segment. We all miss those right? I was thinking of mapping only horizontal, so not stacked. When you go up or down (stairs or elevator), you get a 20 seconds fake loading screen where you can play a minigame (The Builder's Blocks?). After that you get teleported to a different area that seems to be on top of the first, but actually isn't in the map file. It's much easier mapping, because you can see everything in one glance from above. This could also give more freedom building, because it doesn't have to fit. Everything is predictable because guards don't move to different sections.
This could be used for the Thief 3 contest possibly..

Just found out by accident how to change the tittle of a topic you made. You long-click (2 seconds) on a topic tittle, then you get an edit dialog to change the topic title.
The other way I know of is to edit the first post.

I always find it kind of strange that in DR you can't apply spawnargs on specific brushes (I think), but you can apply textures. But those are not listed as spawnargs, so they're difficult to see except if you select the brush and go into the Surface inspector.
Wouldn't it be easier if DR would list textures for every seperate brush in the entity view?
