I was going through the textures in TDM earlier when I found one called "Painting11" however I can't find any painting models that use it http://i.imgur.com/UuI5x9P.png does anyone know what painting model uses this?

What the hell is a Bob Ross painting doing in TDM? It's a good thing it's not used, since it's not only anachronistic but probably a copyright infringement as well.

Haha, actually I think it was 45 minutes. It's the opening room to the Chain Project for T2 if you want to see it. A bare small room with a locked door, table and plant, and an AI that immediately attacks. You kill him and the door opens. 4 hours is a bit more rational. How could you check anyway? Dromed saves the age of a map. I guess make a branch save when you start and then check the time stamp with the final save.

no map size limit, 2 days, or 48 hours. And map to have at least 1/2 hour play time.

In all seriousness, some spammers actually sit there and solve those things. When one is solved, it can be added to a database and all new encountered ones can be compared to the known existing solutions for a match automatically.

Is it possible to place too many loot items in a room? I don't know if i've lost the joy because frequently obtaining loot loses its special feeling or if i've played this part of the map about a hundred times

That's a good analogy, I guess i'll just have to keep tweaking. The main issue I have is that I love to decorate with paintings but they are usually loot too. So you can enter a room (noble) with say a golden brush, a chalice, some wine and then 2 or 3 paintings... and therein lies my problem.

You don't like using func_static models for paintings? (I know it gives rise to the problem of identical-looking loot and non-loot, but that exists in plenty of existing maps.)

Agree with Springheel. See Thief 4 for why "trash loot" is a problem.

Is there an ETA for 2.03 or 2.1 or whatever it will be yet?

Not quite yet. We're getting close to the pencilled-in roadmap date, so people with works in progress have started talking about what gets in, and that'll end up setting the date. We've already got plenty of goodies for 2.03 but there're other features close to being ready for testing.

It's interesting watching how your FM develops over time. At first I had this really simple idea of just a house & then I started adding on other ideas. Now I have an entire city mapped out, and when you start building it branches off even further, it feels like you are able to take your imagination and translate it into a 3D explorable world. Very cool! Mapping is so much fun

It's funny, I've actually expanded my FM quite a lot because I felt the plot would be too rushed if I didn't. So it goes both ways :-). I definitely agree w/ bringing at least one section to completion. I've been making my FM scene-by-scene, and I started out by taking one small starting section and buffing it to a polished shine (w/ Biker's help).

That's not really amusing, it's sad. It's sad because it means that another great franchise has been sacrificed on the altar of money-making. And it means that good types of gameplay get buried to keep us on the track of the same Railgame-Action-Shooter bullshit that we have since decades. It means, that the evolution of games towards a medium that can be taken serious apart from only being entertaining has stopped. It means the end of this very specific kind of art.

This is a discussion for a forum topic, but...
1) Whatever Underworld ends up as, it will be a B title, not an AAA one.
2) Assume a generous 1.5 year dev cycle for both games plus half a year of preparations for the next KS. That's 3.5 years before it even becomes a possibility.
3) Thief just had a 100-million-dollars AAA game. It's unlikely anybody could pay for the license.
4) Modern engines have real problems with editing. TDM still does...

Playing Thief 2 again with the HD texture mod, what a fantastic job they did! Also it made me realize how closed in games are now days, T2 has beautiful open non-linear levels that are still able to narrate a fantastic story.

If the players are jumping too much, put down more metal and marble floors. Anyway, fuck this new breed of casualized game designers.

if its broke already it cannot be fixed. imagine trying to implement jumping with mantling in ocarina of time halfway through dev. absolutely impossible without complete level redesign. this is not going away.

So I found out a very cool piece of news today. My WIP is going to have a small voice acting cameo from an industry veteran. He has worked with Bethesda, Blizzard, Konami and he was even in Doom 3. But more on that later!

Sounds like Rumplestiltskin from the tv series "once upon a time." Pretty cool, but my problem was it was difficult to understand what he is saying, so if he gives an objective to the player, maybe the speech need to be clarified a bit?

@Sotha yeah I will write the script a bit better I just had this idea for a character and decided to record something on the spot so I made up that "script" as I went along haha but it played out well. After you meet this person an optional objective will be added for the player as well

So The Accountant has finally hit Alpha status! Major progress has been made over the past few weeks, if things keep going this way I might even be able to go into beta this month and then meet my (hopeful) release date of January 2014. Very exciting stuff
