  1. Is there something wrong with the forums lately, or is it my browser? I've been having trouble formatting posts, and just now I couldn't format anything at all.

    I'm using Vivaldi.

    Usually I have to: select text, click bold, nothing happens, select again, click bold, then it works. 

    Same for other stuff, like creating spoilers, bullet points, links. Nothing works the first time.

      I have no problem. I use Firefox. @Zerg Rush also uses Vivaldi. Have you tried without extensions, or in another browser?

      (btw. bold, italic and underline have shortcut keys: Ctrl B, Ctrl I and Ctrl U, you could try that)

       

  2. How fun is it to play as an undead in thief trilogy / dark mod ? The haunting(T2) and To the end with nothing(T2). Those FMs are exemplary according to me

  3. Since Aluminum directed me here ( https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/9082-newbie-darkradiant-questions/page/437/#comment-475263 ) can we have unlimited renderer effects? Well, maybe not unlimited, by maybe 3-5? Thanks.

      There already is a kind of sorting, sort nearest, sort decal, sort <n>. For things like windows and such, sort nearest should probably have the desirable affect, though looking through multiple translucent shaders might kill performance.

      Is having multiple render effects really killing performance that badly? I don't understand. You're saying that if I have two transparent objects side-by-side, then they'll just count as two render effects, but when combined, they somehow become something much more difficult to render?

      Never-the-less, unless we're talking some kind of infinite portal problem, why not let the mapper choose how much he wants to kill performance? Just warn him against putting too many effects close together.

      Yeah and the wiki and moddb. It should have those links in the footer I think. Probably easy to add by an admin.

      Edit: And a link to the bugtracker. I'm always searching for a post in the forum that links to that because I can't remember the url.

  6. Since Necromancers are capable of raising human corpses as zombies or haunts, and may be capable of commanding ghosts, I got to thinking what else they could raise from the dead. Animals might make a good form of guard dog in the case of dog, wolf, and fox corpses. Undead bears could be terrible foes you would need to sneak away from, because they'd have an insane amount of health. Undead squirrels, rats, and birds could make good spies, with the Necromancer using spells to see through their eyes. Undead horses, cows, and deer probably wouldn't be too useful, unless you were using their muscles and viscera as parts for Undead Constructs. Now, when I say Undead Constructs, I mean like the Frankenstein Monster and other beasts stitched together from different corpses. If you can texture and program it, it could be put together by a Necromancer who has enough dead bodies on hand. If there was a plague or battle of some sort, or the Necromancer made a shady deal with a morgue, they could have enough body parts to make something truly terrible. Hell, a butcher dabbling in Necromancy could cobble together an army of Frankenpigs like in Amnesia 2. One idea that went through my mind is a "Human Centipede" like the movie, but made of corpses. A other was a form of aquatic undead made from rotten sea creature globsters, like in Resident Evil. But then I came up with something original after reading a news article from London. What if a Necromancer went into the sewers under Bridgeport, and brought to life what is known as a "Fatberg"? For those who don't know, a Fatberg is when enough rotten feces, toilet paper and, most important of all to the vile mixture, grease clog together into an iceberg like growth in a sewer. Nonliving ones in The Dark Mod would serve as disgusting obstacles you'd need to find a way to break up, dissolve with acid, or get around in sewers, but if a Necromancer is twisted enough, they could attempt to bring that rotten heap of greasy shit to life. Imagine if Nurgle corrupted a Shoggoth, and you'd get what I'm imagining. A slowly moving mass of filth that gurgles horrid roars and patrols sewer tunnels, crushing anyone unfortunate enough to get in the way. So, what is your opinion on these ideas, and what sort of Necromantic Constructs could you imagine being made by those practitioners of necromancy who lurk on the outskirts of Bridgeport and the Empire?
  7. Not so long ago I found what could make a pretty good profile picture and decided to try it out on these new forums. But I couldn't find a button anywhere that would let me change it. I asked on Discord and it seems Spooks also couldn't find anything anywhere. So I logged into an old alternative account and, lo and behold, that account has a button. This is on the first screen I get when I: 1) click on my account name in the top-right of the browser -> 2) click on 'profile'. Compared to my actual account: Are you also missing this button on your account? It'd be very much appreciated if that functionality could be restored to any of the affected accounts.

      Yes it was in a discussion where someone was saying how unhappy they are with the way game companies grant themselves permission to do whatever they like to your PC and personal info today. I pointed out that giving up games completely is an unnecessarily overkill solution when there are free games like TDM to play.

    Ok, I've done a search on the forums and come up with a couple threads, but none of them contained any clear, definitive answers, so I've got to ask again, for those of us who are to fog-headed to make it out. How does one deal with the various types of undead in the Dark Mod? To date, I have avoided any and all missions dealing with the undead. After trying one, with disastrous results one evening, and finding nothing I tried seemed to effect them, I went through and played all NON-Undead missions I could find. However, with a bunch of Halloween missions out now, my list of unplayed missions is starting to outweigh my played missions, so its time to start tackling those. But I still have NO idea how to efficiently deal with those nasty things. Need I mention, I'm in the 'I hate undead' camp? Last night I picked up a (seemingly) normal mission, only to discover it was a haunted one again. -sigh- Not sure what all is in there, since I can't get passed the skeletons - or, worse, flaming skeleton. Nor do I have any holy water. So, what does one do to have to remove: skeletons flaming skeletons haunts zombies <any others>? Flashbombs used to be my favourite device, but since those don't work here. . .and I'm not *THAT* good at ghosting. . .

Hi guys, through the "cheats" topic I got the idea, that it would be quite useful, if there were tags for missions (the post was about removing the killing restriction in some missions to suit the prefered play style). I don't know how easy or difficult this is, but with them, it would be quite convenient to pick missions with playstyles, environment, etc one does want to use. This could also be expanded to other mission properties. I remember a discussion about climbable drains, handles on doors, that cannot be picked and other things the map author chooses for himself. That way these things would be clearer and as I said before, it is easier to choose missions with playstyles that suit oneself. What do think?
