Oh wow, Streamable got a lot more mercenary since I last used it.

I figured since there wasn't much room for facades or alot of 3d stuff in the distance I'd use a foggy skybox and cover up the bottom of it for the most part as a fix for outdoor areas looking odd, hows it look?

You can use a patch inside your skybox to resemble the ground blending into the distance instead of covering it up, but it takes a lot of fiddling to line it up and if your FM is high up, the regular skybox looks fine!

I find the animation a bit illogical. Seems mostly going horizontal loop, while the cog is moving round. Maybe it's normal, but I think I've seen better examples.

It looks pretty logical to me. The shadows of the spokes, and the lit beams between them, should move horizontally as their orientation to the red light in the background changes.

It's just a regular old point light, so as far as the engine is concerned that's how it should look! That said, I subscribe to the rule of cool in any case ✨

Also, the elves at the prefab factory have been hard at work.

Very cool, I remember my ex had something like that in her house, but it was a much smaller box, kind of like a portable seamstress kit, I think? It had a carrying handle in the middle. I should have photos of that, buried in depths of my drive somewhere :)

I have that one. Found it on the streets. I might post a picture later. I use it for electronic components.

The shadows of the spokes

Ah now I understand the motion better. I think I just miss a giant shadow of the cogg on the ground, but maybe that's normal.

think you forgot to add a license. I think you should.

There is a line in the source code Form1.cs:

/* by Geep for The Dark Mod. Open source as with other TDM assets */

Yeah, pretty vague. I agree that, since I'm releasing source in a .zip file, I could easily include a license file. I'll have to research what that might say, which might take a while. The 60,000-character LICENSE.txt file distributed with TDM installs is not a good fit for this.

I was just looking at that. I'm currently thinking to go with MIT License, since that's also used by the .Net Framework components I'm redistributing. Except for non-software (like app icon), probably CC Non-commercial 3.0 Share Alike.

For now, I plan to just add a link to the wiki to the license; later, on next code update, add it into the zip download.

Edit: Link to license done.

I posted about it before, but I think the default tdm logo video looks outdated. For a (i.m.o.) better looking version, you can download the pk4 attached to this post and plonk it in your tdm root folder. Every mission that starts with the tdm logo then starts with the better looking one. Try for example mission COS1 Pearls and Swine.

I finished DOOM - The Dark Ages the other day. It is a decent shooter, but not as great as its predecessors, especially because of the soundtrack.
