I think I'll join in on the onslaught of pretty, pretty, pictures. This is my WIP, put on hold momentarily. No title.

Volumetric poo, crap, eww, yuk, sludge, muck, and crud in the sewerwater. Guess what happens if you try to dive in?

What Arnold Schwarzenegger would look like in TDM setting?

Answer: Yes, but he definitely won't sound like it. Just a few more vocal takes, and then spend some time incorporating it into a soundshader and entity def.

I'm currently working on a tablecloth. I think this is about as good as I can get the edges. Only done this one corner. I need to extend the long length which means adding columns not just dragging. I think I can clone and rotate this but I'll still have to do the other two corners manually.

My fingers are bleeding from dragging verts around Biker! More than I care to remember because I did it different ways. First the top cloth I put curves down at the edges. That didn't work because the angle didn't match somehow. Then I tried separate bevels. That didn't work for the same reason. Then I put the curved edge on the top of the vertical drops so the far edge was exactly horizontal and that is tolerable so I've gone with that. I don't know if the very corner edge is right because it is so tiny I couldn't see what I was doing so I just tied some verts in a knot and hoped nobody could see it.

@Sneaksie: Who was it over at ttlg after launch said Dark Mod was boxy and not organic enough. Not much! Try our onions sez I.

Now all this reminds me; do you remember in Thief 2 there was a set of model furniture all draped in dust cloths? Now that would be a challenge.

Damn! Now I've just extended the long edge and there's an artifact - a lone dark line along the top. It seems to be within the top cloth which is just a simple flat patch.

Yes, what it is I have a shadow texture because under the table because I am inside the table's bounding box the lantern wasn't working somehow. So I gave the table noshadows and put in a patch or brush of shadow texture. But I'd forgotten - I'd dragged it half way down the table so I could see what I was doing and also it got filtered out! Leastways, it starts right at that point so it must be that.

I'm also curious to see how this tablecloth looks with the lace decals.

Yes, very interesting and effective. Need a new tiling lace decal methinks but in principle it could be good.

You should export that to a 3d modeling program, make it a whole new modem with the table and cloth. BTW it looks fantastic!

I always assumed I'd taste like boot leather.

Yeah, it would be cool to have prefabs or model tables with table cloth. Or even a tutorial how to do tablecloths.

Fids, when I looked first the thumbnail image for the first tablecloth image, I thought it was a photo of a real table with tablecloth as a mapping aid. Well done!

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
