Vampyr is now out, I am not a fan of third-person combat from a developer whose past history is bad teenager drama and a game I can't seem to recall right now, but I sure do like victorian london settings! Unfortunately, 50 dollars is too high of an admission ticket to just gawk at architectural pieces, so I'll just settle for the concept art from the game:

It's a good game.....not awesome but good. Dialogues are very good, LOTR War in the North/Shadow of Mordor style

Level design is Thi4f / Dishonored inspired :P (and characters too)

Gameplay is Witcher inspired (and bosses are frustrating hard)

Music is haunting, being Arcanum (YES, that Arcanum!) inspired

Story is a bit convoluted, sometimes rushing too much.

Uploading these pics in a new post, so they won't get buried without bumping the thread.

Definetely cool. Although I am not sure whether one could call it a steampunk fan, as there does not seem to be any steam involved (actually I am not sure how this thing works in detail).

That looks cool. The video shows some kind of piston, so that might be a kind of minature combustion engine there? Definitely steampunkish, and even if it doesn't work that way, there's no problem for imaginative modeler to make it look more steampunk :)

Surprisingly simple and elegant. :awesome:

I've heard about stirling engines before, but never took a closer look at how they work. Thanks for the video.

Nice catch, those closeup shots will be useful.

Btw. I'm making a furniture set right now, and I stumbled upon this page: https://www.havertys.com/furniture check out their tables, beds, cabinets, or bookcases, IMO they're pretty good reference material for modeling.

Digging through my old stuff, I found some photos from Wieliczka salt mines. I wasn't a really good photographer back then, so there are some imperfections on these.

An idyllic small manor enclosed by a moat, a little more emphasis on the vertical dimension in the small space available. It'd be suitable as someone's first map.

But be aware of traps that comes with this kind of map - my Crystal Grave was hard to visportal, the structure have to be quite enclosed looking from afar.

Just think of the millions of people and stories that have walked those steps. It's also interesting the step wear is

greater than the water wear from the gutter on the right.

So randomly whizzing around London in G-maps and found this, a perfect example of a cobbled and paved street, notice how the change in direction of the cobbles is done - perfect use in TDM. And there there is the curbstones and pavers.both of which are sorely needed in the mod -

This looks like a war machine, not like something a noble would like to have stumbling around in his garden ;) And I would tend to put it into the Dieselpunk category opposed to Steampunk. But the transitions are fluid, so this is just my point of view.

This looks like a war machine

This is true, that's what this one was designed to be. My thought was that several of its stylistic elements may be suitable for our own concept, such as the colour scheme, the smokestacks, the use of cylindrical structures. Perhaps we'd even get fairly close to a usable design if we took out the middle segment of the bot and thought up a new design for the legs.

I posted about it before, but I think the default tdm logo video looks outdated. For a (i.m.o.) better looking version, you can download the pk4 attached to this post and plonk it in your tdm root folder. Every mission that starts with the tdm logo then starts with the better looking one. Try for example mission COS1 Pearls and Swine.

I finished DOOM - The Dark Ages the other day. It is a decent shooter, but not as great as its predecessors, especially because of the soundtrack.
