  1. Is there something wrong with the forums lately, or is it my browser? I've been having trouble formatting posts, and just now I couldn't format anything at all.

    I'm using Vivaldi.

    Usually I have to: select text, click bold, nothing happens, select again, click bold, then it works. 

    Same for other stuff, like creating spoilers, bullet points, links. Nothing works the first time.

      I have no problem. I use Firefox. @Zerg Rush also uses Vivaldi. Have you tried without extensions, or in another browser?

      (btw. bold, italic and underline have shortcut keys: Ctrl B, Ctrl I and Ctrl U, you could try that)

I may have read this wrong, but the UK government looks like it's going to try and force age verification on every website that provides a service to UK citizens under the guise of removing cookie consent pop ups & preventing children accessing porn They're doing this by asking you to prove your identity, not you age Given the content of some of the missions in TDM I'm pretty sure that will include this site So if you want to access pretty much any website from the UK you'll need to prove your identity with some government approved identification For UK based websites there's a list of approved age verification services you can use at a cost of about 10p per check and if you don't have a credit card/passport/driving license etc they're thinking of using an AI & your webcam, hello phrenology That's 10p for every access to your site even if your site is free or funded by donation, so if someone closes their browser & comes back later that's another 10p because there's no proof it's not a different person, I'm not entirely sure why websites outside the UK are going to go along with this idea, a cheaper way for them would be just to block access for every UK based IP address The bill is extra-territorial being located offshore isn't good enough to save you, I have no idea how they intend to enforce that, too busy picking my jaw off the floor so I may have missed it A few highlights "UK-only versions of browsers" - that can die in a fire for a start https://webdevlaw.uk/2022/06/17/data-reform-bill-cookie-popups/
  5. Since Aluminum directed me here ( https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/9082-newbie-darkradiant-questions/page/437/#comment-475263 ) can we have unlimited renderer effects? Well, maybe not unlimited, by maybe 3-5? Thanks.

      There already is a kind of sorting, sort nearest, sort decal, sort <n>. For things like windows and such, sort nearest should probably have the desirable affect, though looking through multiple translucent shaders might kill performance.

      Is having multiple render effects really killing performance that badly? I don't understand. You're saying that if I have two transparent objects side-by-side, then they'll just count as two render effects, but when combined, they somehow become something much more difficult to render?

      Never-the-less, unless we're talking some kind of infinite portal problem, why not let the mapper choose how much he wants to kill performance? Just warn him against putting too many effects close together.

  6. Hello all' taffers, I have printed the_hammer_medium2.lwo with my 3d printer: Material is transparent and unfinished, and I'm still unsure whether to paint it grey or gold. But it will get a special place on my computer place every time I play a dark mod mission or building on my own level. Greetings from Hamburg, ol' Dyger

      Yeah and the wiki and moddb. It should have those links in the footer I think. Probably easy to add by an admin.

      Edit: And a link to the bugtracker. I'm always searching for a post in the forum that links to that because I can't remember the url.

  9. A new AI based system is now capable of reconstructing a entire image just from a small piece of the original information in real time, is just impressive stuff but really really makes me sad about the future of gaming, PC gaming in particular.
  10. Not so long ago I found what could make a pretty good profile picture and decided to try it out on these new forums. But I couldn't find a button anywhere that would let me change it. I asked on Discord and it seems Spooks also couldn't find anything anywhere. So I logged into an old alternative account and, lo and behold, that account has a button. This is on the first screen I get when I: 1) click on my account name in the top-right of the browser -> 2) click on 'profile'. Compared to my actual account: Are you also missing this button on your account? It'd be very much appreciated if that functionality could be restored to any of the affected accounts.

  12. I select holy water; hit use; a clock comes up and starts ticking off 30 seconds; I shoot water arrows at the skeleton guard; hit him in the face twice and nothing happens. It doesn't even slow him down. If anything, it just makes them run right at you faster. I don't think holy water works. If you have to shoot him a dozen times, it's pointless. It's a bow and arrow, not a machine gun. I don't get it.

  14. Good day Darkmod team, I have been playing Thomas Porter series, and I did enjoy those. Currently on the Transaction episode. The battle with the lich took me off guard for sure, but I liked the decision to look outside player's comfort zone. However, I was totally unprepared for the battle, since I used all my water arrows to douse crucial light sources and free the girl; as such I had HW, but could not use it properly. As such, it sparked couple ideas in my head. 1) Ability to apply holy water on the sword, like applying poison on daggers type of scenarios, to make melee fight vs undead more effective; same consept as applying HW on water arrows. 2) Make HW as a throwable flask, like in TDS, turns into a puddle of water deadly for undead. I'm not talking about next releases, but is any of it worthy to consider?

      Afaik, the LWO combine/exporter in DR will not format smoothing values correctly when doing so. An easy fix if you've already got Lightwave but a bit more of a hassle if you don't.

      @Springheel: At least when reexporting a lwo model, for example after rotating or rescaling it, edges that were formerly smooth show up hard. This implies that the orientation of the vertex normals have changed. It appears that the exporter uses the facet normals as vertex normals.

      This also seems to be a common problem of non-Lightwave software. As Softimage doesn't support proper smoothing in LWO exports either.

      Yes it was in a discussion where someone was saying how unhappy they are with the way game companies grant themselves permission to do whatever they like to your PC and personal info today. I pointed out that giving up games completely is an unnecessarily overkill solution when there are free games like TDM to play.

  17. I've heard mention on the wiki that the capital of the Empire Bridgeport is part of is heavily guarded. But heavily guarded, in my eyes, means high risk=high reward. So what sort of treasures could there be to steal in the city? Ideas I have: Royal jewels of the Emperor's crown, the Hammer used by the God of the Builders to lay the first stone of the holy city, a series of golden statues of Builder Saints, and priceless paintings by famous artists, confiscated by the church.

Hi guys, through the "cheats" topic I got the idea, that it would be quite useful, if there were tags for missions (the post was about removing the killing restriction in some missions to suit the prefered play style). I don't know how easy or difficult this is, but with them, it would be quite convenient to pick missions with playstyles, environment, etc one does want to use. This could also be expanded to other mission properties. I remember a discussion about climbable drains, handles on doors, that cannot be picked and other things the map author chooses for himself. That way these things would be clearer and as I said before, it is easier to choose missions with playstyles that suit oneself. What do think?

      "for some reason" I imagine is you being sarcastic as we all know everybody and their brother/sister are online on Sunday either shopping or looking at porn combined with all the gaming packets.
