      Did the TDM team removed D3's internal Joypad feature? (tdm works only with systemkey binders for joysicks)

      Thanks to shadrach, i got my joypad working in TDM on steam link!

  3. Some time ago I started investigation for a better differential update algorithm. The first attempt was known as time-travelling tdmupdate (also "tdmsync"). The second attempt has been much more cumbersome, but I think it has reached some usable state. Here is the new tdm_installer: Windows (32-bit) Linux 64-bit Linux 32-bit Note that it is not a finished application yet: it has some important features missing, probably bugs also. If your TDM installation is important to you, better copy it before running the installer on it. Please read the comments below to know how to workaround some issues. If you select "Get custom version" check, then you will be able to choose which version to install. Notice that it includes the very first dev build of TDM (with manbeast changes and the new experimental rendering backend). Needless to say, development builds of TDM come unsupported: they are very likely to contain bugs. They are not intended for normal playing. We would be happy if you report bugs for recent dev builds of course, but won't mind if you wait until next beta phase. Obviously, old versions of TDM won't get any fixes Some known tdm_installer problems: 1) Installs/updates cannot be canceled/interrupted properly yet. If you click on "START" button, there is no turning back except for killing the process in task manager. 2) It is strongly recommended to always enable "Force scan" check on the first page. It will spend some time, but will save you from error at the end of installation procedure. Normally, you don't need to scan if you did not modify your installation after previous install. But it's better to be safe yet. 3) The installer does not unpack zips yet. So after install you will have to unpack everything from tdm_shared_stuff.zip manually. 4) As of now, the installer downloads data from the main TDM server. It is rather slow, so think twice before running it in empty directory. Instead of clean install, better copy all tdm_****.pk4 files from any existing installation into a new directory and run updater there. Note that you can see how much data is going to be downloaded on the page with "START" button.
  4. Hi, The FAQ for getting TDM running on 64-bit Linux (which is now very common) http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=FAQ#Does_it_run_in_64_Bit_Linux.3F simply says: "Install the ia32 package". However, that package hasn't been part of Ubuntu for many years now. Having scoured the forums, it seems that the actual answer for how to do it on modern Ubuntus starts with: sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386 sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install libc6:i386 libncurses5:i386 libstdc++6:i386 libpng12-0:i386 libx11-6:i386 libxext6:i386 libxxf86vm1:i386 But then I get stick with an "Unable to initialize OpenGL" error, and I can't figure out which package to install to make it go away. Can someone please post, and add to the FAQ, a step-by-step set of instructions for getting TDM running on a stock copy of both the latest LTS and the latest normal 64-bit Ubuntu? Thanks :-) Gerv
  5. Nice to see you can install Linux on this as well. I don't really like it's white though.
  6. id Studio did a poor job in defining its categorization of variable nomenclature, so in subsequent documentation and discussions there are divergent views (or just slop). In my series, I had to choose something, and went with what I thought would be clearest for the GUI programmer: Properties, which are either Registers (like true variables) Non-registers (like tags) User Variables (also true variables) I see that your view is more along these lines (which perhaps reflects C++ internals?): Flags (like my non-registers) Properties, which are either Built-in (like my registers) Custom (like user Variables) Also, elsewhere, you refer to "registers" as temporaries. I am willing to consider that there could be temporary registers during expression evaluation, but by my interpretation those would be in addition to named property registers. I'm not sure where to go next with this particular aspect, but at least can state it.

  8. Hello Folks This is my first Post in the forum (but I´m your Fan for much longer ) and i just Registered : Cause there is some ennoying stuff with the Engine or your Host-Servers ! To clean my Computer and to prepare a Virgin TDM Database for my Brother , Yesterday i made a totally new Tdm Installation with 2.09b and a Second ! with beta210-07 than i started to download the Missions from the ingame-online-Archive This worked realy Horrible : To clear a Mission as Downloaded (and not anymore as available , so you know you have the newest stuff ) one has to Download it mostly 3 sometimes 4/5 times !!!!!! 1.: Download "Mission-name" 2.: Download "Mission-name *" 3. Download "Mission.name #" sometimes these where enough , sometimes I had to do it again , Sometimes it was cleared fromm the available (But reappeared by the next start of the Game) Sometimes instad of cleared it appeared 2or3 times in the List . This Happend with both Installation 2.09b / beta210-07 and it seemes also to be with my fomer 2.05 updated to 2.08 Install For a Totally NEW TDM-Install ONE Mission-Download of the newest Mission-Version should be good !!! Maybe You all have the Missions updated time by time at the Moment a new version had been out , so nobody realised this or your Download-Server gives them one by one : but if so : a pure Mission Update shouldend be as big as the Original Mission . Hopfully you can look whats the reason of this behaveiour and solve it for other/new Users . Happy Greetings To all of you You all earned at least a GOLD-Medal P.S. : I just made a Test with my old Tdm 2.05 install in The Ingame Downloader appear all of the new Missions so I loaded some of the Newer : Deadeye / The Factory Heist afterwords loading does , install goes -- but starting remains Black ! Not a big Deal -- these are made for newer Versions of TDM But not everybody updates to the Newest Version So it would be fine to make it known (visible before Download) in the Game Discription underneath : Which TDM-Version is needed to play
  9. Wow I thought there would be at least 3. That's sad... Anyways, with all this arctic air heading here for Christmas maybe I can get my own FM going. The one I've wanted to build for decades (meant for T2) is quite elaborate, but maybe I should just start with one that works (with flowing water, that's where it crashed for me, in TDM lol) With the new desktop it shouldn't be many issues anymore. Let me ask you this. Dark Radiant, what's the latest version these days? Do I need any more drivers or other stuff like graphics & such. I still got PhotoShop 6, so it's still cool to do new stuff too for wallpaper, paintings. Problem is, my old hdd. I don't want to open the new pc to install my old hdd as a slave just yet. There's other ways, these days. No CD/DVD on this one either. Using my old laptops external thing from Samsung to install older stuff like T2 & T3, but there seems to be an issue with Win 11. I'll figure it out eventually. Were you doing horror themed too? Not into those really. Mansion/Castle maps is the original of my idea. It's actually the lay out of Bamburger Castle in the UK. So, if there is no contest, yet, how far to plan for a new one? Valentine's?
  10. Thanks, I can also recommend gog galaxy. The idea of the custom tags is really nice, I'll have to try this out too!
  11. I created a simple installer script, that uses a popular method to install TDM as non steam game to steamdeck: Just run several commands, by running a desktop-shortcut. (this creates a folder in the homefolder, downloads the official installer zip package, unzip it and runs the TDM installer unattended) go to desktop mode Download the attached file from this post, to the desktop and run it. hit execute button and wait. After the process, you wil find the TDM folder in de home folder Add the file "thedarkmod.x64" from that folder, as a nonsteam game to the steam library tdminstall.desktop
  12. Keep in mind also that mission size, and complexity have increased dramatically since the beginning. For a lot of veteran mappers, it can take over a year to get a map made and released. The last dozen missions have for the most part been pretty massive, with new textures, sounds, scripts, models etc. We seem to be long past the point of people loading up the tools, and banging out a mission in a few weeks that's very barebones. We still do see some of those, but I noticed in the beta mapper forums and on Discord, that mappers seem to make these maps, but don't release them, and instead use the knowledge gained to make something even better. Could just be bias on my part scrolling through the forums and discord server though.
  13. YOU TAFFERS! Happy new year! Deadeye is a small/tiny assassination mission recommended for TDM newcomers and veterans alike. Briefing: Download link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JWslTAC3Ai9kkl1VCvJb14ZlVxWMmkUj/view?usp=sharing Enjoy! EDIT: I promised to someone to write something about the design of the map. This is in spoiler tags below. Possibly useful to new mappers or players interested in developer commentary.
  14. So I'm trying to install this on linux and it seems to start strong but then immediately cease getting new data. I've left it overnight and it still indicates the same files, I don't think it got any new content. Is there some means of specifying mirrors or for that matter a means of going to a mirror directly to get what I need?
  15. Steps to build TDM 2.06 on ubuntu: 1. Follow the Installing TDM manually instructions: http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Installer_and_Manual_Installation#Installing_TDM_on_Linux.2C_manually But install in your home folder /darkmod instead of /usr/share/games/darkmod 2. Download the source code http://www.thedarkmod.com/downloads/ and extract into your home folder /darkmod_src 3. Update GCC and G++: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install build-essential software-properties-common -y && sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-toolchain-r/test -y && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install gcc-snapshot -y && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install gcc-6 g++-6 -y && sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/gcc gcc /usr/bin/gcc-6 60 --slave /usr/bin/g++ g++ /usr/bin/g++-6 && sudo apt-get install gcc-4.8 g++-4.8 -y && sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/gcc gcc /usr/bin/gcc-4.8 60 --slave /usr/bin/g++ g++ /usr/bin/g++-4.8; 4. In your file manager go to /darkmod_src directory edit SConstruct and add the line of code as follows: ....# C++11 featuresBASECPPFLAGS.append( '-std=c++11' )# maintain this dangerous optimization off at all timesBASECPPFLAGS.append( '-fno-strict-aliasing' ) # In order to build with old C++ ABI, you have to add the following line:BASECPPFLAGS.append( '-D_GLIBCXX_USE_CXX11_ABI=0' ) if ( g_os == 'Linux' ):# gcc 4.x option only - only export what we mean to from the game SOBASECPPFLAGS.append( '-fvisibility=hidden' ).... 5. Install prerequisite packages http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=The_Dark_Mod_-_Compilation_Guide#Linux sudo apt-get install scons //'scons' is currently not installed sudo apt-get install m4 //'SCons Environment' object has no attribute 'M4' sudo apt-get install subversion //svnversion: not found sudo apt-get install mesa-common-dev //no such file: "Gl/gl.h" sudo apt-get install libxxf86vm-dev //no such file: "X11/extensions/xf86vmode.h" sudo apt-get install libopenal-dev //no such file: "AL/al.h" sudo apt-get install libxext-dev //no such file: "X11/extensions/Xext.h" 6. Then run the build either: scons BUILD="release" TARGET_ARCH="x86" .. //on 32-bit OS scons BUILD="release" TARGET_ARCH="x64" .. //on 64-bit OS 7. This will create a new thedarkmod.x86 or thedarkmod.x64 file in the /darkmod folder, make it executable: chmod uga+x ./thedarkmod.x64 8. Run ./thedarkmod.x64

  17. Seems to confirm: https://bugs.thedarkmod.com/view.php?id=5718 does it happen in the latest dev build: https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/20824-public-access-to-development-versions/
  18. https://github.com/HansKristian-Work/vkd3d-proton/tags <- directx 12 wrapper for dxvk https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/tags <- directx to vulkan wrappers D3D 9 to 11 eg. dxvk if you want to try it with horizon zero dawn you need to copy out dxcompiler.dll from Tools\ShaderCompiler\PC\1.0.2595\x64 and bink2w64.dll from Tools\bin and place them next to HorizonZeroDawn.exe. then copy over dxgi.dll from dxvk and d3d12.dll from vkd3d and place them next to it to. now fire up the game and let the shaders recompile -> profit.

  20. https://github.com/KozGit/Blender-2.8-MD5-import-export-addon This was mentioned to me on Discord. Just tried it but no matter how I install it the addon won't show up in Blender. Its description says "Blender 2.80 through 3.4" and I'm now at 3.5: Either Blender 3.5 introduced a breaking change from 3.4, or it's just for 2.80 meaning it's one of the old addons and I'm still looking. Update: Scratch that out, I was just installing it wrong. Tested and it works perfectly!
  21. I thought (at least in Windows) you can install multiple versions of DR. So you can install the v3.0 while keeping your current install, just to see if this fixes your issue.
  22. I think the reason the dev forums exist is to provide a place where the implementation of features can be discussed without getting mixed up with other debates when someone believes what the devs are doing is wrong. We often post public discussion threads for features with subjective elements like the frob outline, because community feedback is very important. But there will always be vocal defenders with strong views for or against certain features, or how exactly it should be implemented in their opinion. At some point a decision has to be made and be carried through, which is what the dev forums are for. Almost all of the threads are very technical, basically explaining and discussing recent or potential code changes with other devs. Its hard to say. Its a hobby the devs do in their spare time, so people come and go when they're in the mood and when they have the time. The team page is mostly accurate except for some relatively newer additions like myself.
