So, what are you working on right now?

That room is missing loads. Just blocking it out at the moment.

 

I'm trying to think about how to make banisters that are generic enough to fit on most stairs, so that I can reuse them but also share with everyone else if they're good enough.

I've been converting the map "Reims Cathedral" by Loren Schmidt from doom 3 to more of a TDM centric setting/theme. Look out for it in some future Bikerdude mission ;)

 

There are still a couple of textures which need replacing, look forward to some nice stained glass!

Congrats Neb - done better than I managed. Look forward to seeing more! There are lots of possibilities for even relatively simple model to be useful. I keep thinking of them when I'm looking for stuff but forget to write them down.

 

Meanwhile, All the main features in place now in Sotha's Alchemist so I have an early alpha completable FM. I hope to have the first true testplay from start to finish tomorrow. Be interesting to see how long it takes me, playing ignorant. I'm betting 3 hours, maybe more. This has turned out better than I anticipated and I'm looking forward to playing it even though I know what happens! ;) Should go beta in a week or two. :)

Inside your darkmod folder you could put it in "models\darkmod\architecture\balconies", but since the model isn't part of the mod then "models\darkmod\custom" is good to keep track of it. Make new folders if you need to.

 

I haven't made a shadow mesh for it yet so noshadows is probably a good idea.

I like it, though I'd recommend keeping an eye on polygon counts. For instance most of the rounding detail around the top of the poles can be simulated with normalmaps, and modeled onto a hexagon or possibly even diamond shape, and then you get the same appearance for 1/3 the polys spent.

      i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
      tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

      I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
      Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.
