Well, my first mission is basically finished. I need to wait for the release of 1.06 before I can ask for proper betatesters, however. I created literally dozens of new assets for this map, and they'll be included in the 1.06 release. Here's a glimpse of the loading screen as a bit of a teaser:

score1.jpg

The new usable assets include a dozen new animations (eat_carrot, sit_turnpage, bang_door, 3 sitting gestures, 2 peer around, lift_skirt, throw_dice, and a few new torch animations), new decals (scattered newspapers and distant city skylines), new models (large chandelier, new lanterns, a few special things) and a new character head. I can't speak for the quality of the mission but at least you'll see something you haven't seen before. :)

Should I be making any changes to door handling to accommodate this?

I assume you're kidding, but I was also thinking ahead when I made it...we had talked once a while ago about what AI would do if the player stole their key or locked them in a room, and this animation would work well for that. :)

Good stuff, SH!

The door banging thing sounds great - I would LOVE to use something like for a revenant trying to chase the player and being locked out at the last moment... =-P

Oh, you mean they "let me out" bang on the door?

I thought you meant they banged a door open or closed, which would need some speed changes on the door rotation, which is why I asked.

Now here is something to wait for. I wonder how long till v1.06.

Most cool things take their time I suppose..

Really looking forward to your offspring, Spring. ;) From what I saw until now, I must say that it looked pretty damn good... I especially like how subtle your loading screen is compared to most of the other authors.

I am sure the mission will be fine!

Speaking of custom assets, would you be willing to make a few small models for me, basically things that mix&match things we already have?

I am missing things like:

* a round lantern that you can hang outside, but which doesn't include the chain

* a variable length chain (or even better a short, 3-element version of our rope that we can dress up as chain to get a swinging lantern)

* a ladder with 7 steps (so you don't have to use the 4 and a 3 step together)

etc.?

Exiting new assets Springheel! ... love that subtle moody loading screen as well :)

Wait until you see it while it's animating.... ;)

I like the new face on that thief Ai, I assume that is new also..?

It is, but that went out already in 1.05.

Sure, but better post it elsewhere so it doesn't get lost.

Oh, you mean they "let me out" bang on the door?

Yes, it's banging the door with their fist--either "Hey, open up!" or "Hey, let me the f* out!". :)

Having a closer look at the loading screen now, that must be one big ass candle if it stands on the table. :D

Just a regular candle in the copper holder, I think it's just kindof a fish eye view. The candle is right in your face, but the thief is across the table and down.

Was just thinking that... clarify who performs such an action, guv?

Intel Sandy Bridge i7 2600K @ 3.4ghz stock clocks
8gb Kingston 1600mhz CL8 XMP RAM stock frequency

That was merely a joke, but anyway, my bet would be that Spring had that candle in the grabber when taking the screenshot and he then cropped the upper left corner. :)

New rule:

Springheel must create new missions annually! (New missions = new assets :) )

@Siyah

You always post such great screens, I hope to be playing one of these one day  ...

I posted about it before, but I think the default tdm logo video looks outdated. For a (i.m.o.) better looking version, you can download the pk4 attached to this post and plonk it in your tdm root folder. Every mission that starts with the tdm logo then starts with the better looking one. Try for example mission COS1 Pearls and Swine.

I finished DOOM - The Dark Ages the other day. It is a decent shooter, but not as great as its predecessors, especially because of the soundtrack.
