Aand finished!

Not bad for a first map, not at all:
I like that you kept it small, but condensed - it was just the right size for the story you set out to tell, architecture was nicely done, there was a lot of details on the streets and in the structures, secrets were nicely hidden (apart from maybe one or two, which I would not be able to find without cheats, as I wouldn´t even thought looking in those places, not deeming them accessible).

I liked that this time, loot objective was optional, so you weren´t forced to find all of that, and the cookbook was pretty nicely hidden :)

Also the main objective was original - I don´t think there was a mission yet where you had to steal a cookbook :)

Looking forward to your following maps! :)

Really nice mission! I finished in just under two hours with a total loot of about 6,000 and found all five secrets. Admittedly, one of them was a really lucky frob. Congratulations on the release. It's a really fun mission.

It's heartwarming to see people enjoying my mission.

Thank you, everyone. :)

Many thanks. :)

I also had these two screenshots lying around, if you want to add them to the database:

Congratulations on the release!

This is a very nice looking, small mission. I really like the layout of the street and back alleys. Well done.

Task is not so much to see what no one has yet seen but to think what nobody has yet thought about that which everybody see. - E.S.

Awesome mission. Very detailed. When I read it's small and your first FM, I did not expect a beast with verticality, secrets, and optional objectives. Perhaps it's smaller, but the verticality and level of detail make it look bigger. I had lots of fun exploring it and searching for all the secrets.

Thanks!

Question: why this guy is NOT knockable, not having a shoulders/low neck protection?

You mean that he isn't K.O.-able, or that the blackjack just goes through him? The latter seems to be a bug with some NPC's since at least 2 TDM versions. At least I've experienced it in quite a few missions now.

Both things!

1) BJ doesn't rise

2) I can only kill him

I think it's an issue with v2.11 (dunno if it's also present with v2.12). For example, I noticed it with the first guard (Builder) in Written in Stone (but also in other missions). I couldn't really successfully replicate it every time though, just sometimes.

You blackjack someone, and the blackjack just goes through, without hitting the NPC.

@lowenz @chakkmanit's not a bug, it's a helmet that protects against blackjacking.

From the wiki: blackjacking:

Quote

v1.01: Certain heavy-duty helmets make their wearer immune to the blackjack. These can be identified by a face grill and a low back, which protects the base of the neck.

That's why the bj doesn't rise. Though if it still doesn't hit the guard, then that's a bug, I suppose.

I think the game lacks a proper way to inform players about these helmets. The Training Mission doesn't include any guards with protective helmets, so currently the wiki is the only place one could learn about them...

In my opinion, the "low back" can be deceiving. The guard in the screenshot doesn't have it, and some guards have it but can still be blackjacked.

Agreed, this should be unified - all the guards with low back should be non-blackjackabble (that´s a moutful :D) so the player could see it from faraway there´s no point in trying.

I just uploaded a new version of the Visible Player Hands mod. It's been updated for TDM 2.13 and has new animations. Check out the post if you're interested!

I moved from Manjaro Linux (rolling release) to Linux Mint (LTS). One of the reasons was that I found the updates a bit too often and long. But now on Mint I get updates every day, although they're usually small updates.

I'd like to track my level design progress a bit more often now, so I'm using the feed in my profile here.
I've been working intensively on Springheel's YouTube course over the past few days. I'm currently up to lesson 8. There is so much information that needs to be processed and practiced.
I have started to create my own house. As I don't have the imagination to create a good floor plan, I grabbed a floor plan generator from Watabou and experimented with it. I chose a floor plan that I will modify slightly, but at least I now have an initial idea.
I used two guards as a measuring tape: The rooms are two guards high. It turned out that I can simply double the number of boxes in DarkRadiant in grid size 8 that are drawn in the floor plan.
I practiced the simplest things on the floor plan first. Drawing walls, cutting walls, inserting doors, cutting out frames, creating VisPortals, furnishing rooms.
I have had my first success in creating a book. Creating a book was easier than I thought. I have a few ideas with books. The level I'm creating will be more or less a chill level, just for me, where I'll try out a few things. I don't have an idea for my own mission yet. I want to start small first.
For the cellar, I wanted to have a second entrance, which should be on the outside. I'm fascinated by these basement doors from the USA, I think they're called Bilco basement doors. They are very unusual in Germany, but this type of access is sometimes used for deliveries to restaurants etc., where barrels can be rolled or lifted into the cellar.
I used two Hatch Doors, but they got completely disoriented after turning. I have since got them reasonably tamed. It's not perfect, but it's acceptable.
In the cellar today I experimented with a trap door that leads to a shaft system. The rooms aren't practically finished yet, but I want to continue working on the floor plan for now. I'll be starting on the upper floor very soon.

On a lighter note, thanks to my cat-like reflexes, my superior puzzle skills and my perfect memory, I was able to beat the remastered version of "Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation" in a new superhuman record time of 23 h : 35 m, worship me!
