  1. I don't think it's using it's own gui for the intro video and it works fine if an audio file is used instead of the audio from the video. I don't think there's another mission that uses fromVideo and has subtitles included. I don't actually know any other mission that uses fromVideo. So I was wondering what you tested it on.
  2. I'm pretty sure I tested this case. Note that subtitles display only if there is appropriate GUI. If you have your own overlay or own GUI file, then you might be missing proper #include of subtitles.
  3. I re-played this, and just finished it. Really nice, classic mansion mission. Again, I didn't really care for the K.O. limitation (I played on the medium difficulty, and I just knocked everyone, ignoring the failed optional objective), but, I accomplished all the other optional objectives. I like that this mission feels so polished, it seems well tested. Nonetheless, the one thing I'd definitely criticize about it is the K.O. limitation objective. It just doesn't make sense to limit the player's approach that way (and it doesn't make sense from the mission perspective either). Really can't stress that enough. Please give the player all the options to play his way, and don't force the player to play your way. Cardinal error in my opinion.
  4. Thanks, I can also recommend gog galaxy. The idea of the custom tags is really nice, I'll have to try this out too!
  5. Keep in mind also that mission size, and complexity have increased dramatically since the beginning. For a lot of veteran mappers, it can take over a year to get a map made and released. The last dozen missions have for the most part been pretty massive, with new textures, sounds, scripts, models etc. We seem to be long past the point of people loading up the tools, and banging out a mission in a few weeks that's very barebones. We still do see some of those, but I noticed in the beta mapper forums and on Discord, that mappers seem to make these maps, but don't release them, and instead use the knowledge gained to make something even better. Could just be bias on my part scrolling through the forums and discord server though.
  6. YOU TAFFERS! Happy new year! Deadeye is a small/tiny assassination mission recommended for TDM newcomers and veterans alike. Briefing: Download link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JWslTAC3Ai9kkl1VCvJb14ZlVxWMmkUj/view?usp=sharing Enjoy! EDIT: I promised to someone to write something about the design of the map. This is in spoiler tags below. Possibly useful to new mappers or players interested in developer commentary.
  7. Lets test some bats! You'll need at least version 2.10b5 for testing (Dragofer added "animal_patrol_wait" which is needed properly behaving bats). I've tested the bats in my testmap and now they are ready to be let loose and tested in your maps to see if everything works as it should. Think about free roaming in (very) large spaces and small spaces. Also maybe have them follow paths, I didn't test that, and other things you can think of. The bat can by default be killed but has no ragdoll, instead it has a deathScript that makes the bat disappear with a visual effect. Maybe someone wants to make a ragdoll for it? Set spawnarg "noDamage" to "1" to have invincible bats. The blender files can be downloaded here: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/815315205483397142/936191315845206046/Bat2.0_Blender_Files.rar The files needed to have bats in your map are in the attachment. There are 2 different sized bats and there is also a red test skin for both. I added the original tdm_mage_effects.fx file in the fx folder as an example how it works so you can easely make your own visual effect for the bats deathScript, if you wish. Update 2.01: Fixed aas, size, mins, maxs in the .def. Should work fine now, I hope. Bat2.01.rar
  8. TDM Modpack v3.2 released in the opening post Completing a mission without being seen is something that can be done with some practice and patience, and I find this self-imposed challenge quite rewarding. The STEALTH ALERT MOD will play an alerting chime whenever you are seen so that you don't have to monitor the Stealth stats all the time. This mod has been in my back-burner for some time. Despite the small scope getting it right not to annoy anyone was key and it was challenging to find a middle ground for players that may be interested in the feature and players that just don't care about stealth. The mod has been extensively tested and the end result blends in quite well, imho, and I hope it will either be useful or go unnoticed... You can find the download in the opening post. Full changelog: ============================== v3.2 - New release ------------------------------ • STEALTH ALERT MOD v1.0: Inital release • QUIET DOORS MOD v1.1: Improved code Cheers!
  9. I can reply with the very same text: why fixing tiny issues of developer/cheat commands in any version if they get broken anyway a year later? We usually support and fix some commands/cvars that mappers use regularly when working on missions, but that's it. I don't have that much time fixing all the minor stuff. It does not pay off fixing some noclip issue that you can a) not get into, b) fix with other console command. When game developers follow the idea "all console commands must work flawlessly", they usually close the console, so that players cannot get into it And yes, that's how testing works: the software is tested constantly, again and again, and the very same bugs are discovered again and again. There was definitely a case when we aimed for stability release (like 2.07), but I don't feel 2.11 is anything close to that.
  10. Seems to confirm: https://bugs.thedarkmod.com/view.php?id=5718 does it happen in the latest dev build: https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/20824-public-access-to-development-versions/
  11. The mystery is solved, because I just tested it on the Bafford mission. I only engaged with one guard; clubbed him to death with the blackjack, and then knocked him out while his death animation was still playing (this is slightly qwerky to pull off and is generally more likely to occur in dark areas). But it registers as both a KO and a kill on the stats screen, in spite of the fact that it was the same guard and he was killed before he was knocked out! lol
  12. https://github.com/KozGit/Blender-2.8-MD5-import-export-addon This was mentioned to me on Discord. Just tried it but no matter how I install it the addon won't show up in Blender. Its description says "Blender 2.80 through 3.4" and I'm now at 3.5: Either Blender 3.5 introduced a breaking change from 3.4, or it's just for 2.80 meaning it's one of the old addons and I'm still looking. Update: Scratch that out, I was just installing it wrong. Tested and it works perfectly!
  13. I don't know which versions exactly you are talking about, but in my patch I use Dragofer's Statistics Scrolls, which does not replace anything in the inventory but is an additional item. I haven't tested it on 2.12 yet but I wouldn't know why it shouldn't work anymore...
  14. Oh wow: Areas in my city I clearly remember yielding 60 FPS from some positions / angles now reach well over 80 FPS with latest dev, same quality settings just the new optimizations and defaults. While it was commonplace to get barely over 60 FPS in many zones, I barely found a spot where it now occasionally hits 69 FPS for just one frame You've truly worked miracles with those optimizations. Didn't imagine even more performance could be squeezed out of the engine by software fixes alone. Haven't tested broadly but they'll be felt on every FM for sure. Thank you lots!
  15. Did a great find today: Quake 4 mods for dummies. Now online readable. http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/5576-book-quake-4-mods-for-dummies/?p=412644

  16. https://github.com/HansKristian-Work/vkd3d-proton/tags <- directx 12 wrapper for dxvk https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/tags <- directx to vulkan wrappers D3D 9 to 11 eg. dxvk if you want to try it with horizon zero dawn you need to copy out dxcompiler.dll from Tools\ShaderCompiler\PC\1.0.2595\x64 and bink2w64.dll from Tools\bin and place them next to HorizonZeroDawn.exe. then copy over dxgi.dll from dxvk and d3d12.dll from vkd3d and place them next to it to. now fire up the game and let the shaders recompile -> profit.

  18. I think the reason the dev forums exist is to provide a place where the implementation of features can be discussed without getting mixed up with other debates when someone believes what the devs are doing is wrong. We often post public discussion threads for features with subjective elements like the frob outline, because community feedback is very important. But there will always be vocal defenders with strong views for or against certain features, or how exactly it should be implemented in their opinion. At some point a decision has to be made and be carried through, which is what the dev forums are for. Almost all of the threads are very technical, basically explaining and discussing recent or potential code changes with other devs. Its hard to say. Its a hobby the devs do in their spare time, so people come and go when they're in the mood and when they have the time. The team page is mostly accurate except for some relatively newer additions like myself.
  19. I just read@motorsep Discovered that you are able to create a brush, then select it and right click "create light". Now you have a light that ha the radius of the former brush. Just read it on discord and thought it may be of use for some people in the forums here too.
  20. Paid for Premium and tested a couple of movies I thought should be 4K but I'm uncertain they are. The info I got was that there should be a 4K or UHD logo but I never see that, only HD. I can't think of any technical way of telling if what I am looking at is very good 2K or simply 2K resized to 4K. I mean, my display is 4K. Netflix's own info says to search 4K or UHD and list lots of movies, but none of them I glanced at said anything other than HD. I mean, what does a UHD logo look like? Is it just the text UHD? I never see that.
  21. Btw. why is there a button called Mission Statistics under the Mission Statistics screen. Is that for the details screen? I don't remember, but it seems unnecessary. Edit: I just tested and you first get a mission succes screen, where you can click on the Mission Statistic screen. But if you click on it, the button stays there, but it could be easilly removed from the statistics screen. By adding code: set "statistics::visible" "0"; set "statisticsH::visible" "0"; to windowDef statistics_select under onAction

Haha yeah, I feel like that from time to time. Good to see you around.

  23. Tiniest question...how do I kill the player via script if $player1.kill(); doesn't work? I have tested and yes, the script fires as it should...
