Video is updated and should be bright enough. All sfx is WIP. Background ambience will be changed.

Fantastic work.

"I really perceive that vanity about which most men merely prate — the vanity of the human or temporal life. I live continually in a reverie of the future. I have no faith in human perfectibility. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active — not more happy — nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. The result will never vary — and to suppose that it will, is to suppose that the foregone man has lived in vain — that the foregone time is but the rudiment of the future — that the myriads who have perished have not been upon equal footing with ourselves — nor are we with our posterity. I cannot agree to lose sight of man the individual, in man the mass."...

- 2 July 1844 letter to James Russell Lowell from Edgar Allan Poe.

stunning. I hope we get to explore the necromancer's tower

You sure will, I'm rebuilding the whole map with my own personal touches and missions. I'm not planning on rebuilding Angel Watch, maybe a rendition of it in the future, not 100% sure just yet.

looking forward to it. I've always wanted to see some of the old T1/2/3 environments reimagined in FMs set hundreds of years after the events of the original games. that's one of the things I liked about Thief 4.

I loved the atmosphere in Thief 4, but the gameplay was lackluster imo. This is my second time mapping out Life of the Party, my first attempt was more of a copy with minor visual upgrades to see if I can pull it off. This time around, I decided to build in sections, treating each area as though they were their own FM. Essentially, my goal with this project is to create a very atmospheric and nostalgic experience.

Below is an image of my first time mapping Life of the Party quite a few years back. I was fairly new to Radiant coming from mapping in Hammer. This map wasn't as successful as I'd hoped, but it definitely helped me learn many valuable lessons.

Can the original layout be visportal'd properly so it runs smoothly or do you think some alterations will be necessary here and there?

Thats partly as to why I didn't release my first attempt. The original is incredibly difficult to visportal properly, there were way too many drastic frame drops in key areas.

Going into it this time, I plan on adding more density and use a strong atmosphere to create a subconscious illusion of a bigger space. Some areas I already know will be very difficult. I'm also giving myself a bit of flexibility on how faithful I want to be to the original layout. This will give me leverage to work within my limits to optimize performance.

Oh this is so cool! I always wished to see an original thief mission becoming alive in The Dark Mod. Good luck - I can't wait. Good idea to not build it 1:1 the same BTW.

Say, I know it's been a while since the site got overhauled from the crash. But did we ever figure out if/how to get the recent topics & replies list back? It's not a total deal breaker but it was nice for becoming a thread creeper again...

Some of you who've been on the TDM discord know I was out of work last Winter, just putting in hrs for the developer portfolio. Currently I've been working a seasonal job to pay the bills and now I'm finally in my last week before I get bumped off. Things will be tight but I'm planning a long off period to make as much content as I can. Big plans in Unreal Engine as well as my most ambitious TDM collab yet! Never been so excited to be a stuck at home to pursue my life's work. With a lotta time and maybe some luck, I'm hoping to get enough art work done that I may start applying around to studios.

I finally got around to play Prey and I truly loved it. It is an incredible homage to System Shock and Deus Ex. While the gameplay is not en par with those two titles, the game makes up for that with its well written lore and story. The whole "world" just feells so authentic and it features a ton of really god environmental story-telling. Recommended for every immersive sim fan, i.e., everyone on this forum.
